  • The Mazda 3 Turbo Hatchback. This. Now this has been my favorite mainstream Mazda to date. Let’s discuss. I was very much reluctant to let it go back to the press dungeon for starters. But in this time, I fell in love with this 2023 Mazda 3 Turbo Hatch. As a daily, especially with Mazda’s new premium ethos and this Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint, it’s perfection. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Under the hood is the 2.5L Turbo 4 making 250HP (227HP in 87 octane) and 320 lb-ft of torque, (310 lb-ft of torque on 87 octane) a decent amount of power in a tiny sedan. Power is sent to all four wheels only through a surprisingly good 6-Speed automatic. 🏁

    **long story**
I was looking for my next car and i started developing interest in Audi SUV’s and coupes. I detail cars for my job and get to see tons of exotic cars everyday. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the Audi interior and infotainment system. Not to mention the sound system.
Fast forward a year. I moved out my parents house and I found myself at the Nissan dealership getting my car serviced one afternoon. Soon the dealership was asking to buy my ‘19 Sentra SV, of course I was interested! So after going through a list of cars and it started to seem hopeless. The sell’s woman randomly brought the Mazda 3 up. The moment I saw it I had to have it 😂 . Before seeing the car i was pretty bummed because I couldn’t find anything I liked, seeing the Mazda 3 lifted my spirits.
I took the test drive and that was it, I signed the papers and drove it off the lot 👍. One of best investments I’ve made in my life, wish I got one sooner! It’s such a joy to own, I initially was draw to the car because of its looks but soon found out the mystique of the Mazda 3. It truly works for me, I’m fully sold. I use to want the wrx but I feel more unique with the 3 in America. Enjoy Mazda!

I like the idea of the Skyactiv X engine, but the power and torque are actually less than the 2.5, and the gas mileage increase isn't huge. It makes sense in Europe where they don't get the 2.5l engine or turbo, but not so much in the U.S...especially with a price premium vs the 2.5

Not really, you can just theoretically get a better launch turning off traction control and using manual mode. I haven't tried it on my car, it's quick enough just mashing the pedal to the floor.

You got the car I was originally considering before I bought my turbo hatch. I had already decided it was either FWD with manual (second fastest Mazda 3) or turbo with auto and AWD. There were no manual Mazda 3's within 500 miles so I spent a bit more for the turbo. I'm more than happy with my car, but sometimes I itch to row my own gears and the paddle shifters or slapping the gear level back and forth isn't the same. In my mind you have the next best thing to the turbo, enjoy!

  • @jbm0866
    @jbm0866 Місяць тому

I did buy this car, but in machine gray with red leather interior. I agree with everything you said, I never use lane keep assist and the radar cruise is about one car length too far even on the closest setting, but is still very nice on long interstate road trips. The ride is definitely firm, maybe a bit too firm if your local roads are in poor condition, (a mix where I live, some smooth, some badly in need of resurfacing) but overall not bad when compared to some other sporty cars. I rarely notice the torsion beam rear suspension, it's most noticeable going over speed bumps as it tends to "thunk" a bit on landing..but otherwise not an issue in daily driving or spirited twisty roads.
The best part (other than interior) is the effortless power. I've had my car nearly 4 years now and gotten used to it, but I miss it whenever I drive pretty much any other car...especially crappy rentals like Nissan Altima or small crossover from any number of manufacturers. Overall very happy with it and only issue has been the factory battery only lasting two years (replaced for free) and a cracked windshield from a small rock. Not the cars fault on the last one, but the front glass does seem a bit brittle and thin. Other than that, smooth sailing and still love it.

I would only get the CX-30 (in any form including turbo) if you really need the extra ground clearance...such as live in a rural area with real winter weather and roads that arent always cleared. Other than that there are better pseudo SUV's for going off road, and the raised suspension blunts some of the Mazda 3 platforms handling prowess.

I have the natural aspirated version I'd honestly go with that it has enough power and you don't need as much long term maintenance as the turbo. It still has a satisfying rumble when you accelerate and is a cheap luxury car. AWD is awesome on it I live in a snowy place I find myself passing trucks and jeeps with 4x4 daily and have never had even the slightest lose of control.
If you don't know what skyactiv actually is I suggest looking into it.. it really milks the most performance possible out of these engines it's amazing.

    • @jbm0866

Wow, that's a tougher choice than it seems on the surface😂 I mean on one hand you have a two seater that's considered by many as the most fun car in the world, (all things considered) on the other hand you have a small hatchback that may as well be a two seater (with seats in the back for occasional use) but has way more useable cargo space. I'd say as long as you have another larger vehicle and whichever you choose will mostly be for driving yourself around and on occasion one passenger...why not get a Miata? I'd have one in a heartbeat if I could afford to own, maintain and garage another larger car, but that isn't where I'm at unfortunately. (I live In a condo with a single car garage and have a Mazda 3 turbo hatch)

yeah that’s mazdas weak point, but i think their reasoning behind it isn’t as they can’t do it, it’s more of they have this strict philosophy of you ONLY focusing on the road. it’s a deep philosophy of theirs. it’s why they have such a good HUD, why they don’t want people having a touchscreen, and a whole other host of reasons.

As for why are manuals only 6 speeds...have you ever driven a manual before? 8 gears would be a bit too much😂 iirc a few years back someone offered a 7 speed manual, but I think 7th gear was just an extra tall overdrive for gas mileage purposes, not really used in daily driving.
