- One thing you won’t get in all of the COVID-19 press conferences “is truth,” according to Sky News host Alan Jones.
“I inflicted the ultimate pain upon myself by watching an absurd press conference on Friday by Gladys Berejiklian,” Mr Jones said.
“I hope you don’t submit yourself to such punishment every day. The recurring theme was stay at home, uttered a million times.
“You saw them all on stage, Hazzard, the sign language interpreter, Chant, Worboys, and then a retinue of assembled media. Why weren’t they staying at home?”
Mr Jones noted that Dr Kerry Chant “had something in her eye” and the Health Minister Brad Hazzard gave her a tissue for it.
“His hands are all over it … and she puts it all over her face and puts it in her eye,” he said.
“All of which we are being told not to do.”

I was going to visit family in another state, in order to satisfy a particular family member, to feel comfortable w/me, (a non-vaccinated healthy person), I got a covid test. $265. No surprise, I didn’t have covid. At the testing center I watched all 15 others tested before me clean results. There was long line of people still waiting to be tested. What a racket! Turns out that particular family member isn’t even satisfied with the clean test, says I could’ve picked it up covid on the plane. Waste of time & money!!

In most cases, politicians are simply giving the majority what they want. There may be some clear headed, rational thinkers commenting here, but I would venture to guess that you are the minority. On top of that, most people are horrendous at assessing risk, so even given statistics, they can't interpret the fact that Covid is not a mortal threat to the vast majority. And now you have the crowd that wants protection from infection. Here I was, thinking all this time that the hysteria was about death. But now that the death counts have dropped by 95%, and virtually 100% for the vaccinated, it's all about case counts and infections. The mantra is now a risk free existence. Makes me wonder how these people survived pre-Covid.

This takes me back to the 1975 episode (wasn't actually alive then, but through what I know of it) despite their being mass protests etc. of Whitlam's dismissal, Fraser was returned to power with the largest victory since Federation. Not saying its directly comparable situation (this one is probably worse, Kerr though acting unconventionally acted entirely within his legal rights to dismiss a government which could not command or coerce confidence and supply through the Parliament) but any precedent is useful, especially if the stakes are so high. Perhaps a better comparison would be the 6/1 protest in the US. Some even managed to get inside the Capitol but the actual structure of government (and therefore the rule of the elites which they managed to make themselves an integral part of the government it seems) were never under serious threat. Quite possible similar results could happen here, a even more bitterly divided nation with many of the protesters being charged with serious offences and a elite-friendly media/mainstream sheep offensive on the protesters as "conspiracy theorists". We already saw a smaller version of this with the Melbourne protests...though most protesters were not just conspiracy theorists (don't doubt there were some professional protesters or nutjobs caught up in the hype though) they were still largely still seen as such by many, which is not productive for real change.

It’s not just the masking but the vaccinating. From what I’ve heard kids will get vaccinated at school and the parent won’t even know.
@tony king yes you are right, I have friends who are training they kids to say no and to contact parents if it is falsed on them. Secondary school age is planned 12-16 so the parents have to tell their children about it. I would go made if they gave it to my kids, thankfully they are older. Most people don’t understand that it’s still only in stage 3 of the trials, no kid should be part of a trial. We don’t know the long term effects yet.
