    Another very helpful video, Rich! I have used documents for years, but they were not as organized as I would have liked. This will help me go through the documents and folders I have on my iPad/iPhone and get organized! My problem is NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND THEM AFTER SAVING! I now realize that when I want to save a pdf & I click on d/l icon, it automatically saves to Google drive. BUT, I don’t have google drive! That’s why I can never find these! Thank you for making a channel just for seniors. I thought I would use my iPad for talking to family and keep using my laptop for everything else. But I love the iPad so much I rarely turn on my ancient laptop anymore. I need your info so much! Thanks again. Hi, Rich. Great video! I’ve been wondering about files, and wanting to use them on my new iPad Air 5th gen, which I bought after watching your suggestions. (Love it that bigger screen so much!)
    Question: My accountant sent me a pdf of my income tax return in an email. How do I make a folder for it and future returns, label it “tax returns” and put the pdf in it? I’d like to use that folder to store my returns in that same folder in the future. Also, is there a way to secure the folder on my iPad so no one can open it but me? With a password maybe? I have no idea. My previous returns are in my old MacBook Pro, which needs a password to open it at all, but I didn’t do that. I am wanting to move to doing more on the iPad than on the computer because it’s old, and I don’t plan on buying a new one, as it was mostly for work, and I’m retired now.

    This was good information but I need more. When I first started fiddling with the Files app I discovered that I have all kinds of files all over everywhere mainly from my main computer that somehow got into iCloud and then got onto my iPad and so everything is all over everywhere. What I would like is to have virtually all of my files in the iCloud area with the ability of occasionally move something to my iPad or iPhone because like you say I may not have an Internet connection. So maybe in advanced files tutorial would be very welcome at least by me.

      I plan on making a new video on the files app. But in the meantime, it might be helpful to know that the files you have in your iCloud account are not "on" your iPad unless you download them. They're in the cloud and available for you to view. I've taken some time getting my iCloud mess organized and now things don't look so bad on my iPad. Hope this makes sense.

      If you're file is in iCloud Drive and your iPhone and iPad are using the same Apple ID, then it's already there! Just open the files app on your iPhone. Otherwise, you could email it. Hope this helps!

Even swiped and did a search for the app, nothing. Thought it was on my iPad automatically? Before I do anything I’ll check with my husband who will probably tease me and one of my grown sons who will also tease me but that’s ok. I’m learning and I’m grateful 😂❤

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 11 місяців тому

      What kind of documents are they? If you right click on a file you copied, and choose "Properties" what extension does it show? It will usually be something like .txt (text) .pages (Pages file), etc. Apple loves to do things in a proprietary way and don't like to play with other companies. Sometimes you have to export whatever file it is to a standard or more widely used format.

    • @JJFlores197

      They are 2 separate apps for different tasks. Notes is to jot down notes. Files is a file manager app that lets copy files between your iPad and other services like Google Drive, iCloud, or an external drive you may have plugged into your iPad.

      You're not the only one. In fact, quite a few people find the background music distracting. Equally, a lot of people find the background music enjoyable. I think I'm going to ditch the music soon. I want to help folks, not drive them nuts with background music. I do try to keep it low. I try to use music to help the flow of the video. I agree the music is VERY distracting. When I sign up for any kind of course the instructor does not play background music. Remember this is for seniors, and when seniors went to school the teachers were not playing music in the classroom.
      My vote is to PLEASE ditch the music. I wanted to send this to my 90+ year old Dad but the music would prevent him from getting anything out of this video. Thanks for listening.

      @JJFlores197 Рік тому

      That's where Apple falls flat with their iPadOS. To my knowledge, you go to "on my iPad" in the locations heading. That shows you the files you are able to access. Apple doesn't give you a real file manager on iPadOS like they do with Mac. It is pretty rudimentary so you can't see any system files or anything like that. Apps usually create a folder with their icon where they store their documents and maybe settings.
