Chief Pennington served as the Superintendent of the NO PD from 94-02 when he left and became the Atlanta PD Police Chief from 02-10. He died in 2017. We need more officers willing to get rid of the corruption and officers that have destroyed the trust in the police.
Pennington is the guy who actually restored my faith & belief in the police (well, at least to a degree).

Len Davis is currently on death row. He was sentenced to death again on 2005.

The behavior exhibited by all of the officers involved, shows exactly what the oath of office that all police officers , regardless of what state they're employed in, is supposed to mean to them. There is no amount of money, regardless of my financial situation, that would make me ( a retired officer and current criminal justice student hoping to return to service ) break it. I personally know people who have dealt drugs, but the respect of both the public and my family, not to mention my own sense of self respect has always kept me from soiling the name of my department or tarnishing the badge !! I have a lot of repect for the job, not everyone can do it .
Funny you mention the oath to serve and protect yet when the wire taps indicated the the woman who filed the complain for brutality to her nephew was going to be "taken care of" the FBI and this so called oath never made a move to protect her and as a result was murdered. I guess cops only serve and protect when they have something to gain out of it. IMO all those cops who did nothing to protect her are just as guilty as the actual shooter in my mind that makes them just as corrupt as anyone else involved. So take your oath and stick it where the sun dont shine you self serving hypocrite.

" Oath of office", there's a distinct difference. I don't know what state you live in, but I'm in NY, upstate to be specific.
The oath I took was, " I, ( my name) do solemnly swear to uphold the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of New York, and to execute the duties of my office to the best of my ability, so help me God" !
In our department, there were no reports of improprieties involving our 130 officers. I was taught better than to either allow your partner or any other officer to behave in a manner that was contradictory to patrol guides and memorandums as well as normal departmental procedure...if you did, you'd be left swinging in the breeze and fired, even if you had the union behind you, you could still lose your job, certification, pension, and other benefits.
In my opinion, it's smarter to do as you're expected and supposed to do and keep yourself out of trouble and keep your job while you're at it.
Unless you've put the uniform on and done the job and know how difficult it is to be so many things to do many people, don't judge me, you have no idea who I really am or my prospective on anything other than this particular issue.
This is a format for offering an opinion on something, not for people to call me what you did, who appointed you the gear and powerful inquisitor ? Casting labels on people who have as much of an opinion on something as you do, shouldn't be a priority, notice how I didn't stoop to your level and start calling you any names? It's called common courtesy, everyone has an opinion, just like we can all be thought of as fools, all it takes is for you to open your mouth and remove all doubt !
If you know people "personally" who have dealt drugs and have done nothing about it you are CORRUPT. Youv shouldn't be in the police; you are a criminal. Your lack of self awareness is laughable. Cops aren't famous for their intellect, but you are a joke.

Even back in '93 and '94, it was a terrible time down in New Orleans. And I wasn't even born at the time!
Chief Pendleton had rid the corruption of officers out of the NOPD after he was elected.
Chief Warren Woodfork should have went down as well because this all happened during his tenure.
There were numerous complaints from the public and reports from local journalism that were bought to his attention many of times and he did nothing but denied it all.
He was a POS and also corrupted himself

The root of the problem is “the war on drugs”. It’s just an excuse to expand the power of the state over individuals. Cops have transformed themselves from a public service organization into a corrupt tactical / military force used by the politicians to grab more power and control of the citizens, and of course to steal their money and property. As they say, a few bad cops ruin it for the other 10%!

Like how they illegally seized the contents of those safe-deposit boxes when the company that was renting them went out of business! Was living in New Orleans at this time. When I first moved there, there was only about 150 murders per year. When I left nine years later, it was over 400. Meanwhile you had cops running drug rings, shaking down businesses, putting contracts out on people, comitting armed robbery, and killing other cops (look up Antoinette Frank). It was scary.

@@the1212redeagle Thanks, it was interesting to say the least. Didn't mention that at least once a week there was the all too familiar pop, pop, pop, pop of gunfire just down the street. Couldn't walk through the parks after sunset. Apartment and car got broken into three times. And then there was the poor young lady after one of the Mardi Gras parades. She and a bunch of other people were getting a ride in the back of a pickup truck. She was sitting on the tailgate as it slowly made its way through the crowds and the traffic. Then she was snatched by a couple of guys, right in front of everyone. Her body was found several hours later. Don't get me wrong, I love New Orleans. My Creole roots are there, and my father's parents met and married there. Most of the people and the food and entertainment are incredible. It was just so disheartening to see the town tear itself apart. So really I was more sad and disappointed than scared.

Damn, I've gotta give it up to any and all undercover cops. I mean they truly risk their lives and they have to be in character at all times. That's not easy to do, so those are some big fucking balls they have. Especially mafia undercover cops. I mean they're risking their lives even after they've been pulled off the job. Louisiana man among first to be executed when feds resume capital punishment
The Len Davis scandal era was also marked by record violence. The year Kim Groves was killed recorded the highest number of murder victims in the city's modern history. She was among 424 murder victims that year.
Along with Davis, a half-dozen other former New Orleans police officers were convicted on drug trafficking charges, all stemming from the same FBI sting operation.
Davis became one of the most notorious instances of police corruption in the history of the New Orleans Police Department. While under investigation by the FBI for suspected ties to drug trafficking, a wiretap caught Davis celebrating the murder of 32-year-old Kim Groves in 1994. Investigators later learned that David ordered Groves' killing, because she had filed a police brutality complaint against him.
A federal jury in 1996 convicted Davis on two civil rights charges and sentenced him to death. His execution was delayed when the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed his sentence, forcing prosecutors to hold another sentencing phase. A second jury also chose the death penalty, and Davis has been awaiting execution since 2005.

But that's different from effectively bringing part of the website here and dropping it off without comment or any kind of validation. I have no way of knowing whether this is valid unless I go out to other websites and find out, in which case, what's the benefit of dropping off a chunk of text like that with no context if I have to go find it again on my own in order to learn whether it's complete junk or quality news. That's all I'm asking for - comments, context, source, just simple stuff. In this form, real news and fake news appear identical, only one of them is causing a whole lotta trouble, and news clips from unidentified sources dropped off without comment often tend to be the latter.

Although there are so many things that could’ve been done differently, the fact that the officers knew that there were people within their vicinity that were corrupt and were willing to use their power to solve this issue shows that not every cop is bad and they are determined to bring their own to justice to gain back the trust they’ve lost due to the abuse of power🥺
I've always felt that people like police officers, lawyers, judges, etc. should be much harsher punished for criminal acts compared to non-justice-system -working people because those people are meant to uphold the law and enforce justice. It's like a doctor that willingly murders patients should also be punished much harsher than regular 'murder man'. I mean being proficient in Karate and such makes you a lethal weapon and can get punished harsher for accidental deaths during violent altercations and such...
It's pretty sad when you can't trust the very people who are supposed to protect you and follow the law.

What I want to know is,how were these two clowns able to do this stuff all day everyday,without actually doing any real police work,how were they able to constantly dodge dispatch calls?there had to be times where dispatch would radio them & say "Delta 9,can you take a look at suspicious activity at...! because if I were them,the fact that dispatch didn't call me to taskings would make me seriously suspicious?????

This is why we need the FBI. Defunding them is not a good idea.
Kudos to everyone from the very beginning of the development of this episode to make a decent effort to include one of many women who work inside the FBI. Not all law enforcement are working the streets since technology is such a huge part of the effort now. The whole wire process was fascinating. I enjoyed this episode.
This was amazing. Cudo’s to the FBI for being able to avoid any leakage of their operation against the rogue cops from the NOPD. My only question was why didn’t they remove Ms. Grove from the area when they knew she was in severe danger! That’s on you!

They didn’t know a “30” meant that poor woman trying to stand up to the corrupt cops was going to be killed? That’s not a secret code, and it’s understood by those that have heard it in pop culture, by criminals and mostly obviously police since it’s their code.
That can only mean one of two things.
1. The agents were naive to the point of gross incompetence.
2. They allowed it to happen to either not blow a case that was already rock solid. Or more terrifyingly allowed it add to the charges.
It can only be one of those two things. Remember ignorance is no excuse for the law.

No, it's because those people hate authority in their life (I guarantee they're all atheists as well and for the same reason - they can't stand the idea of a sovereign power in control of their life). They're simply looking for any excuse to use as a a scapegoat. So they take individual cases of police corruption and irrationally apply it to the entire population of police officers and say, "See, THAT'S why I hate them" (when in reality it's not the real reason at all).
LMAO, this case is 30 some years old policing has gotten a lot better but people have not actually people have gotten quite worse.
