Blue and white ,that paper and whitish paint was terrific when you finally staged it with the linens and colorful Scandinavian bits . Worthy of any fantastic room. Thank you.
John Alden was my 11th great-grandfather! He came over to Massachusetts on a boat called the Mayflower in 1620. I can't picture him adding floral rice paper to any of his creations but I have to admit it really looks fresh and clean and... happy. 🌼
I so love your videos and all of the charming narrative. You say what so many of us are thinking as we navigate the actual work of reworking a blast from the past to live in today's world. As and adjunct business (what you don't have time?) you could create and record diy bedtime stories for those of us who could then fall asleep to the stories of saving yesterday to flourish in today's world and beyond.
Great job. It's beautiful!!! I agreed with with your decision to do something with those doors. Glad you took them off. I would never thought to use Bondo to change things. Again great job, Andy. Thanks for sharing.
I just found you and I love you!!! How much fun do you have playing 2 personalities!? Brilliant! I have dabbled in furniture restoration and renovation and know I will learn a lot from you!
I LOVED this video.!! You did such an amazing job on these pieces and there were so many of them. I also loved the clips in the beginning that showed a glimpse of your lovely Spode china with the Buttercup pattern. I have that set that I was lucky enough to receive after my mother passed away years ago. She got the set after she was married in the late 1930's and I cherish it. I think it is so delicate but not so sweet that it looks extremely outdated. I so enjoy your channel and watch your videos often. Wish I had your creativity and stamina so I could tackle some projects in my own home. Thanks for posting this and giving all of us a huge dose of inspiration. !!!😊
Wow Becky - thanks so much for this! I just recently found that china in a little antique shop near my folk's home...I couldn't resist! I agree - it's a neat pattern - delicate, but not overly sweet. Seems to work in well with more modern pieces! So glad you enjoyed this monster of a fable, and if I've provided any inspiration, I am so glad!
I found myself looking for a peaceful moment during my day and grabbing a cup of coffee to enjoy your video! The “drama” at the beginning, the music, the great family team working together, the amazing project attacking that monster!! Andy “my darling “ you are an inspiration! Love love love from the upper peninsula in Michigan 💖 for you and your family
Oh Andy, it's SO cute, you should be so proud!! Thank you for posting this video and highlighting the importance of prep. I'm working on bedroom set with some dated details that I've been filling in and it's just as annoying and painstaking as you say, but your video has given me the motivation to just keep at it and persevere. Thanks for sharing this one with us :)
Hooray! Thank you so much for sharing that Sarah - obviously you know first hand all about this! Sooooo many little things to deal with, right?? I am rooting for you!! 😊
Wow, wow, wow! Loved all the Scandinavian touches and the Dala horses, which symbolize strength and courage. I think you displayed both in tackling this project. Absolutely stunning!! You have also inspired me to refinish a 1950s -era solid maple dresser that needs attention. Thank you!
Andy, so glad you are sharing another legendary labor of love. What a wonderful family, pitching in, getting things ready so you can work your magic. John stepping in so you could sit one out...what a sweetheart. I love your decision to fill in those door fronts. Adding the blue and white backdrop is a wow factor. You did a beautiful job and a lucky someone is going to get a one of a kind bedroom. Have a great week and thank you for inviting us to share your vision. From North Carolina, Karen
Glad you are back.... and you have given me hope for my father's Early American furniture he made. Yes, it is all calling for painting. I just can't get rid of it
Oh how I love your videos! Thank you. This one makes me want to clear out the garage of bikes, surfboards and kayaks and fill it with kerb side finds, fusion and Dixie bell!!! And your editing skills and story telling is right on the spot as well! Love it.
Thank you so much Caroline! I'll admit - one of the best parts of this whole journey was the cleaning out of the garage...really let's your creative ideas flow when you see some wide open space! 😅
Beautiful. I painted my kitchen cabinets and friends kitchen chairs in salt water. I love it. The finish on the cabinets is rock hard after curing. Love the results.
Oh my! It is so gorgeous!!! Job well done!!! I can’t imagine taking on such a job! It came to the right person for the task! I’m sure it is a relief to have it completed!
Another one bites the dust!!!!! Amazing Amazing Amazing that's all I can say about you and your talent. This is beautiful; so glad the elderly couple gave this to you Andy. They wouldn't believe it was the same bedroom set after all that tedious work you put into your projects. I would love to do something to our '87 French Provincial bedroom set with all the curves and carvings?????? What was I thinking???? I do love French Country and would love to paint, paint, and paint our set. My husband loves to see the grain of the oak wood and it is beautiful but I love to change things after all the years. Thanks again for a great presentation, your work ethics being so meticulous about every process makes each piece More Beautiful!!!!!!!
Thanks so much, Joy! Yes - for a big project like this, a less expensive paint could be a good option, although a premium product does help give some peace of mind for a quality outcome. 😊
Once again, you taught me some techniques I did not know. Thank you. Kudos to you for taking on such a large project! You made this damaged, out of date look wonderful!!
A big job for sure, but it completely outfits a bedroom. The most inventive part was those washed drawers. Very nice indeed! I also liked the lucite drawer handles which resemble ice that goes completely with the Scandi design. Bring out the chocolate fondue! I think you are channeling Meryl Streep in the preceding narrative -- that conscious mind telling you NOT to do it, that you CAN"T do it, that you are silly to even try. And then you DO it. This is what flows through the minds of all of us when we think we just might be biting off more than we can chew. Sometimes you just have to get started, stay in the moment and just keep moving forward. Eventually the job gets done; if a project involves many steps write them down and check them off as you complete them. Then it is much easier to keep at it til you are done.
OMG!! I am old enough to be your mom, but I want to be you when I grow up! You are an artist! Very entertaining and your descriptions of everything you do and everything you use leaves me with few questions. All teachers should take a lesson from you. I love the fact that you show your mistakes without hesitation. Thank you so much for sharing.
I just found your channel tonight. I love what you do. I have always tried to furnish my home with upcycled furniture, because throwing things in the landfill is so sad to me. The bedroom set came out so pretty!

Thanks so much!
Just found your channel!! Love the spin you put on furniture restoration!
I'm always amazed how much paint and finishes cost.
Thanks so much, Joy! Yes - for a big project like this, a less expensive paint could be a good option, although a premium product does help give some peace of mind for a quality outcome. 😊

Hooray! Thank you Crystal!
Lovely to see you back, I hope you’re alright. What a marvellous transformation. Your staging is beautiful too.
