Their album Out of the Cellar was fire when it came out in 1984, and it all is still fire today. This is one you want to turn up loud in a great sounding stereo system and just let it all play out.
When Ratt emerged out of the L.A. scene in 1984/ '85, they were fresh, energetic and fun... the girls loved them and the guys thought they were cool. But on top of that, they had simple songs w/ hooks and melodies & choruses which could stick in your head. They got big so fast (after years of playing clubs) and even Bon Jovi and Poison opened for them early in their career. Besides Ratt fans, many don't recognize the name of Ratt founding guitarist Robbin Crosby. He passed away in 2002 after battling heroin addiction and AIDS, but he was a remarkable riffmaster back in the day. Years before Cardi B, Ratt had this album in 1985 titled "Invasion of your privacy"... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Unfortunately they didn't make it, but my dad was the singer to this band called Black Rayn and they once opened for Ratt at the Hard Rock Cafe. Love them as well you guys. Let's Go! ✌️💚💪
One of the more under-rated 80's hair bands. They are really good in concert. Had a couple of really good hits. "Wanted Man" and "Back for More" are good ones if you check them out again.
@@JG-zt5vr because that was played on the radio. They played the living crap out of that song on the radio. LOL....should've been Lack of Communication.
The song is nothing but that riff is the killerest riff that ever riffed (there's a reason DeMartini is playing it over and over in the song). Distinct memory: walking into Guitar Center in the mid-80s and every stringy-haired dirtbag teenager in the place was playing this riff (incorrectly). I was buying strings at the counter, looked at the aggrieved clerk, and said, "Lay it Down, eh?" His reply was the deepest sigh I ever heard in my life. 🤣
This may be the most well written song of Hard Rock history. I took this song to my music teacher in college. After listening to it about 3 times…he commented that this band was indeed different then most of the other bands in that era. Extremely talented he said.
I have seen ratt twice growing up in the 80's. as a guitarist Warren D. Martini was one of my favorite players. I still have two of his stainless steel picks he played that i caught at those concerts. we (friends)would always look to see what side of the stage his gear was at and live in front of that side of the stage 😂 my God the room was Electric.
Really like Ratt too. This band has a bunch of good songs. These were my hs yrs. lol. cruisin on a weekend with the top down on the Jeep....man. gooood shit
My favorite Ratt song is "Round and Round." They were an interesting band haha. Their songs remind me of our inside devious voices telling us to do things we normally wouldn't do lol.
I saw them in concert in 86’ when this album came out. They had a very little heard of & up & coming band called Bon Jovi open for them. The following year Bon Jovi released Slippery When Wet & well, the rest is history. Bon Jovi became the biggest band in the world & Ratt was an afterthought.
Love Ratt! Need to check out "What you give is what you get", "Round and round", and "shame shame shame" Thanks for this! Brings me back to when hair metal ruled!
when they came to the arena near me back in the 80's, they sold out fast. everyone at school was talking about the upcoming concert. . this was one of my favorites by them. i wasn't able to get tickets, til a kid i barely knew aproached me at my locker..."can't go...two tickets ...$40. want em?" Hell yeah i do!! got off the bus, told my dad i got tickets!! an hour or so later a knock on the door. a friend of my dads, that he hadn't seen in 30 years, and his son, a classmate of mine. short and skinny...kid was smart enough to write down the serial numbers of the tickets before he brought them to school. i had boughten stolen tickets. i never got to go...the 4 of us paid a visit...i got my money back...
They were great live, did worked with them back in 94' I believe. All the 80's bands we had play at the Electric Ballroom were great. But they were all very nice guys. Cool stuff.
I did like RATT back then...not my favorites of course, but I did have a couple of their albums. Asia...♥your expression when BJ is explaining how to "Lay it down" ...but perhaps in all of the wrong ways is priceless. ♥ U both.
RATT N ROLL!!! My favorite band. I saw them twice once in the 80’s in Honolulu and a few years back in Kalamazoo. Check out their Greatest Hits and the videos.
Wife here.., RATT.were .OG's of the Glam Rock/ Hair Metal Genre.. They were Awesome...As an adult ( far from the 80's).. I do realize this to be quiet the "Lil nasty song"..I am cracking up Ms. Asia that was GOLDEN !!!!...Matchmaking for sure BJ.!!!...2 Great U2!!! 😅🤘🤘👍
saw them in plaistow nh me and my buddy went ,were going to the front to get a better view and my sister jumps out at me, i didnt know she was there with my brother in law what a fuckin great concert
other great songs, " You're in Love" " Between the eyes" " I want a woman" " Way cool junior" " What you give is what you get" " Eat me up alive" incredible songs and many more.
Your not wrong about people hooking g up at concerts to songs like this. The music and emotional trance you get into you can meet ladies under those circumstances. You two are absolutely correct. They would dance sexy!!!!
Give Ratt's "Wanted Man " a listen...great video too ! And if you haven't checked it out "Round & Round" is also a great video. Weird fact, Milton Berle was in the video because he was Great Uncle to Ratt's manager at the time.
As someone who was listening to Sabbath, Floyd and Zeppelin around this time, this always sounded kind of like garage band music, and still does. Not that there's anything wrong with that.😁
Thank you very much for reacting to this song, when you guys get a chance check out the official video, it shows the guys and a little story with it that's pretty cool, and clean, haha, Thank you again
Check out Lovin’ you’s a dirty job , I want a woman , Wanted man , Slip of the lip , Given your self away , Dance , One step away , We don’t belong . Ratt has a bunch of great songs
"You're in Love", "Lack of Communication" and "You Think You're Tough" are just a few bangers from Ratt back in the day.
I'd add Body Talk to your list.
@@digimortalone2759 Awesome scene from The Golden Child when the bikers are watching the video for Body Talk
Round and Round is their big hit, check it out !

Invasion of Your Privacy was the album
Both were great albums
Yes, this song was on Invasion of your privacy
Their first 2 albums killed!!!
I was a junior in high school in 84, RATT kicks ass
One of the great bands that defined the 80’s!!
One of the greatest guitar riffs ever. Best RATT song...
I've said this for a while and I stand by it to this day. Probably hands down one of the best riffs ever written.
Fully agree. Especially from the 80s.
I agree! I thinks it’s a shame how Warren Demartini goes unrecognized as one of the best to play, especially in that era!
I think this is a WInger kind of riff, kind of reminds me of their song "17". Still, it kicks ass 🤘🤘

I saw the Ratt/Bon Jovi show (free ticket) and it was loaded with hot young ladies.
It was an anthem song in the '80's. Bands like Ratt had many groupies in every city that they would Lay It Down with.
Badass band...great catalog of material.

Yeah right. 🤣 Ratt is one of the worst bands of the 80’s!
One of my all-time favorite songs and Band , include Dokken because of Juan Crocier.
I can just imagine Ben Stein being that professor...

I agree with you Asia. A proper guitar solo tells a story that is interpreted by and recreated by the listeners, each in their own way(world).
The Ratt Geico commercial is the best! The funniest is the Peter Pan class reunion Geico commercial , thanks y’all!
