Recently I have been getting ads saying learning songs on guitar on UA-cam wont help you, but I find Marty really helpful
Dude their just sales men I am 100% self-taught and I can play anything from Jimi Hendrix to Steve Vai you can do it

I started learning with marty in may 2019. Surprise marty is a good teacher.
I love how it’s so easy to learn any nirvana song as soon as you get that power chord form and transition down. It makes me realize how genius they were making those songs because they’re so simple yet so creative and different.

After learning the riff for smells like teen spirit all of these songs got easier for me. It teaches you in muscle memory the form and how to spread your fingers further apart. It also teaches you how hard you need to press down on the strings.
You are right for sure but at the same time. I doubt anyone can play it the exact same as they would play live. Also some of their not so popular songs are pretty difficult.

Students: If you take nothing else away from this video, take this: if you can't hum it, you can't play it. Whether you're just learning something, or teaching like Marty is here. Being able to hum what you're playing helps to train your ears and reinforces the melody or chord progression you're working on in your head.

I already knew the song, but while discussing the techniques of humming and rhythmic scat singing with some other guitar playing friends one of them mentioned that his son was learning a lot from teachers on UA-cam and that one of them "hums along a lot, like, a LOT, but my kid says his videos are some of the easiest to learn from, maybe there's a connection?". I don't know if the humming along thing just comes naturally, or if it's something your teacher(s) did, or if it's a conscious choice you made regarding how you want to teach … but having a well-trained ear is such a valuable skill, and it can be applied to every instrument, even singing, so keep it up and pass it on! 🤘🏼

Why do you always skip the guitar solos? 😔😢
I guess because then the video would probably take a very long time to make but sometimes he makes separate videos that show how to do the solos
My guess would also be that people are more likely to click on shorter tutorial videos since they would think (short video=probably easy song to learn). At least thats what i did at the beginning when i wanted to learn songs haha :)
Thats why I usually watch Carl Brown for full songs, If im learning a riff tho I come to marty, His lessons are always very simple
