Tyree Flores wise words
It’s crazy how a different drummer can change the vibe of a song. Both Dave and Chad have an interesting and unique twist on the song that is cool to hear
The little changes Dave made (two bass beats between the snares in the verses instead of one, swinging the eighth notes on the closed hi-hat during the verses instead of playing them straight, longer snare rolls in the lead up to the chorus, open quarter note hi-hats during the chorus instead of closed eighth notes) make all the difference though. Dave made it sound more dynamic, heavier and groovier in my opinion. Not to mention the backing vocals Dave supplied, which are the icing on the cake.
People who don’t play the drums just hear the intro fills and think Dave played the whole song exactly the same as Chad, but there are definitely a few subtle changes that make a big impact.
Not really bloke
I like Chads drumming better
Chad sucks. Dave was actually the missing piece in Nirvana.

It pisses me off that the rock n roll hall of fame didn't include and induct Chad Channing with Kurt, Dave and Krist. Chad was in the band during the time they had to work the hardest. Being crammed in a van touring the country with no money, etc. He was there for the toughest times helping the band make a name for themselves. Who cares if he only played on one album, his contribution went beyond that.
+jimmy fabs A lot of the drum lines on Incesticide were Chads and he taught Dave them
Well I'm pretty sure Chad only did like half of bleach but he also did some of incestiside! Poor Chad, he didn't get anything did he?
He gets a percentage of everything that sells that he was on. That is a ton of money. Most musicians traveling around for little or nothing don't ever get close to that. That said, it should be up to the band which members are indicted in my opinion.
+jimmy fabs actually Dave gave credits to Channing's drumming for Nirvana
Exactly. Chad was there with them for the beginning.
This version of the song combined with the video really conveys the vibe of Nirvana as the peak of their career was in bloom... The uncertainty, mounting tension, yet chill vibe of just hanging out with your best friends.
this comment tho
Right? This video combined with the raw sound is what makes me love this version so much, its pure nirvana. Everything from nevermind and on is not just nirvana, its the professional producers and mixers and a little bit of nirvana. Many don't know this "alternate version" was meant for a unreleased album in 1990, this was the first single to that album
An alternate version in music typically refers to a different rendition or variation of a song or musical piece. It could involve changes in instrumentation, arrangement, tempo, or even lyrical content compared to the original version. These alternate versions are often created for various purposes such as remixes, acoustic versions, live recordings, or special releases.

Makes me think that maybe being a rock star was a poisoned chalice. Imagine if Kurt Cobain had just remained living in Washington and we never knew him , would he still be alive? Like in a parallel universe where nirvana never made it big?
@@conorsmith8551 i think the band being successful is also what made him want to live a bit more. based on the videos I've watched about his upbringing and life, he tried to kys a couple times and thought about it a lot, especially with the stomach pains he had for 6yrs

I like the rawness of this version a lot more. But then again, Kurt said that Nevermind had too much of a polished production, which was not what they were looking for.
polished production is exactly what they were going for on nevermind lol
malkintities Yeah, but later when In Utero was made, they said that that kind of sound/production was exactly what they were trying to achieve for a long time.
this music video is all from their bleach era. Its kinda BS because the song is on neveremind. The drummer isn't even dave grohl. And also the older one was Kurt's fantasy of making a beatles like music video being fufilled.
Cally Quinn I see. Well, personally to me the Bleach era was the best, I love that raw sound in general and the overall tones they used... I like it more than the production of In Utero. I don't think any of the albums had a production that I considere bad or anything, but I have my preferences. As far as the different drummers they had, I think all of them were very good. I don't exactly prefere one over the other. But Dave has that amazing stage performance and delivers so much impact...
I heard somewhere that they performed in front of iggy pop and some record producers at a show and they kinda fucked up so krist shaved his head

I Love Nirvana! Their music had soul, unlike most modern-day rock...
modern day rock has. You're just a poser that only listens to big ol' bands
Bruno Romero
No, I tried to listen to modern-day rock, but it is soul-less... Nirvana and other bands of that era were born out of suffering, unlike modern musicians of whom most of had a cushy lives and upbringnings, all that effects their music.
i agree
Try listening to Ty Segall, Bass Drum of Death, FIDLAR, Wavves, Cloud Nothing or even us! Some of the band's i've metioned have a garage/grunge type of sound with a modern take and many of them are heavily inspired by Nirvana

Why are people surprised Chad Channing is in this? This was recorded in 1990 for Sub-Pop, a record company in Seattle. Dave hadn't come into the band until after this song was made. Yeah, they probably were high for most of their careers, but i don't think whilst filming this they were, that was just weird ole Nirvana. Personally I love this music video, it shows how happy Kurt was before the fame blew up Nirvana, they're just being themselves, whereas in the newer video of In Bloom they're just going against society and what they think and being sarcastic [which i love, it's what i do as well] Looking between the two videos i see a significant difference in Kurt's mood and it's saddening.
