I was an instructor at TDK Pretoria in January 1981, I think Bravo Company. What is very sad to me is the fact that I never took some of these troops back ground into consideration. I was also a 18 year old called up for duty. This is a brilliant story thanks Dries, life can be very sad.
Andries, i have the utmost respect for you! i am so sorry about your hard childhood, i could relate to some of your hardships. Thank you for your service and the man you became. Thank you also Koos, see you soon.
Tiffies...unsung heroes for sure. During Ops in Koakaland early 1983, our Ratel engines (Bussing) took a pounding and had to be nursed along by the outstanding Tiffies. All Ratels were subsequently sent to Grootfontein to be reconditioned prior to winter ops into Angola where they performed outstandingly. Many good memories for me personaly. 61 Mech, Omitiya, 1982 - 83 Veteran.
Thanks Andries and Koos . Pity that there are 919 VIEWS but only 56 LIKES.....come on people ....what's there not to like. This is history that can't be erased .
