0:40 I started my world and held off on watching Kibitz for a very long time. Then I started and caught up to where I was really quickly. I ended up doing a similar Fuel Generator setup as him but I used MK.5 Belts and it's supposed to produce around 80GWs. I, too, have had this same issue with it. It is only around 46GW. Edit: My solution was also to use smart splitters. It failed. Thus now I am coming back to fill up a bunch of industrial buffers with turbofuel as extra stored power so that I can destroy my canisters and reroute three 780 belts for 3 sets of 5 overclocked packagers. Then the odd few extra packagers go on one 780 belt by itself Edit: Power Grid is up 61GW out of 80GW. I'm letting it run for a bit to see if needs more balancing or if my modifications will balance it in time.
Since you only have 3 lines... Before your belts hit their current "load balancing zone", put in a merger on each source line. After the new merger section, put a smart splitter on each imput line. Configure each smart splitter so that its primary output is a straight pass-through, with one of the other outputs set to Overflow and the final output disabled. Belt each of the 3 Overflow outputs into their own basic splitter. (Recomend placing the basic splitters directly above the imput lines they came from to help keep things sorted.) From 2 of the output sides of the new basic splitters, run a belt to the mergers (on the OTHER 2 source lines) you added to the beginning of the load balancer setup. This will logic-lock the game into evenly splitting any backups that occur onto the other belts. If 2 belts are fully saturated at different "pressure rates", the 3rd belt will seamlessly take whatever surplus load that it can handle. If all 3 lines fully back up... Install a second set of smart splitters in each line (between the mergers and smart splitters you just installed... even if you have to move the mergers farther "upstream" to make room for them lol). Configure these new smart splitters so that their primary outputs are straight pass-throughs with the second output set for overflow. Belt from the 3 new overflows into awesome sinks. This will cause your belted materials to shift to wherever they can possibly be used BEFORE they get purged to keep your system running at capacity. It also negates any inconsistencies or glitches that might crop up if the game gets funny later on. I'm pretty sure that this should be called a "3 to 3 Balancer, with pressure relief", but the community might already have given it a name😅
@mmorris2830 the way I solved my issue of a closed loop canisters not being balanced is as follows: All packagers are fully overclocked (150 p/min * 5 = 750) 5 packagers on 780 belt * 3 + a weird one. Those four belts go into separate small storage containers, and I let them auto balance manifolds while keeping any eye on the storage containers to make sure there were always a stack or two there but never accumulating more. (This way, empty canisters are always full in the water packagers and always flowing in the fuel unpackagers)
@sselesUneeuQ that would definitely get the job done as well 😅. Pre/Re-loadable imput buffers are always a solid bonus lol. *edit: After looking at my first comment... I would like to apologize for not initially stating vocally enough that my comment was only ever intended to be a VERY soft suggestion of a potential resolution option. Thank you for treating it that way even though I wasn't as clear about it (as I would have liked to have been) when I posted it.
I'll never understand using diluted packaged fuel over the plain diluted fuel recipe for builds like this. removing the need for packagers and packaged fuel entirely is unreal. Is there any reason to use the diluted packaged fuel recipe instead?

23:00 I had turbofuel jetpack long before my fuel generator factory. I had made a computer factory that used various recipes including plastic and rubber. I used the heavy turbofuel alternate to create a byproduct disposal system. It was originally all packagers @ 101.6 turbofuel per minute and then I put most of it into fuel generates (11) temporarily
For the name, I like the sound of "sanctum". Like maybe "Turbo Sanctum" or "Power Sanctum" or "Turbo Control Sanctum" etc. Sanctum kinda sounds like tank and aquarium put together, but also has like an isolated connotation. The vibes just feel right to me.
Hell "The Sanctum" alone even sounds great. Power is the most sanctimonious thing in this game and it must be treasured. So naturally it would be produced in such a place.
21:07 I think a good name for that would be The Nature Preserve, because that is the area that will provide your factories all their needed sustenance, life and natural fossil fuels needed for the beauty of grey concrete. And because that's the location of your first big project, it deserves to be preserved in concrete.
My friends came up with the name: Lake Maracaibo for that area a long time ago. Always have a power plant there, and that lake is known for having nightly constant lightning storms, every night.
The controls center makes me realize how cool it would be to have sensors for throughput & item counting, as well as displays that you could link to those sensors so you can see all that info.
09:28 Hi just wanted to let you know that you don't need to delete all conveyors to replace a cube, just when you put a new cube on the old one you need to press Ctril and build, and the cube will be replaced just like conveyors are replaced.

So much time, effort, and materials sunk into this place, all to keep that Company Mandated™ Freon-Based® Suit-Portable® AC up and running! Oh, and the lights too, I guess.
I built a turbofuel factory that does 55MW as well, last weekend! I used the diluted fuel recipe rather than the packaged one, however, which I think makes things waaaaay easier.
FYI, you can now hold down control and build the smarter splitter to replace a merger or splitter already in place. A splitter - smart splitter breaks no belts.
Fun thing is, once you get access to Nitric Acid, you can upgrade your Turbofuel power to Rocket Fuel power pretty easily. Rocket Fuel has almost double the energy density of Turbofuel.
I get real slushie make vibes from your control room. Also light strip pattern in the underside of the ceiling would be very visible from the whole factory and would look great
Hi @ImKibitz, I just saw when you placed Smart Splitter that you removed the existing splitter with belts to replace them (because it would not reconnect the belts if you replaced the splitters only.. BUT, if you press and hold CTRL and place the smart splitter on an existing splitter, you can UPGRADE the existing one and you don't have to replace belts :) this may save some rebuilding time. (also for anyone else reading, who didn't know) Bonus tip for anyone: did you know you can add mergers and splitter to the end of conveyor lifts without conveyors and they work? Less noodles ;)
For names for different factories, I go with company sounding names. I usually do clusters too. So one company does oil products and fuel, another one does steel based products, etc. And each one has their own architecture style and colour pallets. Just a personal preference.
I put the packaging and unpacking of the water/fuel in 1 blueprint with the refinery in between. Added a belt that goes from the unpacking to the packing. Pre filled all the lines with a stack and it just sends them back to the same package/refinery/unpackage setup.
quick tip, if you need to replace a splitter with a smart one, you can hold ctrl for it to replace the current splitter without having to remake the belts that are connected to it
A little tip about splitters/mergers. If you have a Splitter and want to replace it with a Smart Splitter, just select the Smart Splitter, hower over the Splitter and hold CTRL. It will allow you to replace the Splitter without needing to remove it and redo the belts
Maybe you can name your power plant "BIG RED TURBO PLANT" as a nod to your first playthrough as your main base was called Big red. also love the new series :D
I really want to introduce you to my belt differential. just uses splitters and mergers. No 'smart' stuff needed. And it keeps things moving. Basically stack splitters/mergers to whatever height for in/outputs, and have the center go straight over to merger, but on sides, one side goes up one, and one side goes down one (with a loop at bottom/top of each side). Will perfectly balance things and is jam proof
The best fix for the power plant: don't bother with packaged diluted fuel, unlock bauxite and make it in blenders without the need of canisters. Or if you are really impatient you can put smart splitters on the empty canister lines and awesome sink the overflow.
I highly recommend not doing big Turbo Fuel until you have Blenders. It’s super simple, just need a lot of compacted coal but that’s easier to make in that biome now.
Kibitz you should make a hyper tube priority switch that only connects to your hyper tubes so if you have power problems the nonessential factory’s can shut down while leaving your quick way to get around intact.
i mean, im new to the game, but youre too good man! in the time i got to stage four for the first time, u already got boifuel and sht. and u are awesome at building!
19:17 that is the best black you can get using the sliders between 0-1 and such in the customizers but you can manually edit a color option and type in larger and smaller number like -10 or 10 for blinding white or total black rather that light and dark grey.
Hey kibitz, cool thing. When you finish a phase on the space elevator look up when you send it to the orbital station. There are nice animations of the space elevator upgrading by each phase you launch for more learnings of crafting and such!
Just wait until Kibs learns about the Nitro Rocket Fuel alternate recipe (but that does require Nitrogen which needs the Resource Well Pressurizer which is Tier 8 tech, so the Turbofuel plant makes sense for now).
I love your videos Kibz and haven't built anything close to the scale you have. Allow me to make a humble suggestion. Once you unlock Blenders and the "Diluted fuel" alt recipe you have the same ratio of Heavy Res and Water to Fuel except it's like having the whole thing OC'd to 166% because it's 50 res 100 water to 100 fuel. Can save all that space and all the time messing with the canisters.
I built a similar turboplant using your (patreon) spreedsheet. But I noticed a major problem when using overflow on the packagers. Their input stack to 100 which made the last packagers empty most of the time. Big issue. Had to insert TONS of empty canisters + buffers. Anyway I redesigned the loops into smaller (about 30 or so) closed loops, which eliminated that problem. The plant does not look as neat, but it is 100% reliable. Thanks for all inspiration. Makes it more fun for me as I dont have the same amount of time to play.
Me taking notes and labeling things all the time in my day-to-day life: "Disguise your struggles to comprehend the complexity of your surroundings with signs!"
Name Recommendation: Since you called the control room a fish tank. The slab could be called the S.U.M.P. Sumps are used to hold and filter water in fish tanks. Super Ultimate Mega Powerplant. Or something like that.

Pre filled all the lines with a stack and it just sends them back to the same package/refinery/unpackage setup.
quick tip, if you need to replace a splitter with a smart one, you can hold ctrl for it to replace the current splitter without having to remake the belts that are connected to it
because of you im buying satisfactory today it my birthday thanks kibitz for the amazing content
A little tip about splitters/mergers. If you have a Splitter and want to replace it with a Smart Splitter, just select the Smart Splitter, hower over the Splitter and hold CTRL. It will allow you to replace the Splitter without needing to remove it and redo the belts
Don’t forget those hanging lights that were in the nuclear plant control room!!!
Will perfectly balance things and is jam proof
scale of that powerplant is mindbogling to me
The best fix for the power plant: don't bother with packaged diluted fuel, unlock bauxite and make it in blenders without the need of canisters. Or if you are really impatient you can put smart splitters on the empty canister lines and awesome sink the overflow.
I highly recommend not doing big Turbo Fuel until you have Blenders. It’s super simple, just need a lot of compacted coal but that’s easier to make in that biome now.
I can't believe you did all this with Mark 1 power poles
Kibitz you should make a hyper tube priority switch that only connects to your hyper tubes so if you have power problems the nonessential factory’s can shut down while leaving your quick way to get around intact.
I vote to call it "The Fishbowl" (had an office where all the bigwigs would meet that looked similar and that's what we all called it)
i mean, im new to the game, but youre too good man! in the time i got to stage four for the first time, u already got boifuel and sht. and u are awesome at building!
how bout… SPICY JUICE FACTORY
Nah, that will be a name for late game super fuel factory (I forgot the name)
19:17 that is the best black you can get using the sliders between 0-1 and such in the customizers but you can manually edit a color option and type in larger and smaller number like -10 or 10 for blinding white or total black rather that light and dark grey.
Hey kibitz, cool thing. When you finish a phase on the space elevator look up when you send it to the orbital station. There are nice animations of the space elevator upgrading by each phase you launch for more learnings of crafting and such!
Hearing the overflow solution to the canister problem made me think: "Solving long-term problems with short-term solutions, it's the FixIt way!" :D
You can change the color of concrete to a black black and a white white. all you have to do is chnge the bottom slider number to (10 or -10)
Just wait until Kibs learns about the Nitro Rocket Fuel alternate recipe (but that does require Nitrogen which needs the Resource Well Pressurizer which is Tier 8 tech, so the Turbofuel plant makes sense for now).
I think a cool name for the area could be something like "glossy pond" or "slick crater plant"
"We have to fix the powerplant"
Dammit Kibbs, I got a paranoia thanks to those words.
this thing is INSANE! love it !
Me taking notes and labeling things all the time in my day-to-day life:
"Disguise your struggles to comprehend the complexity of your surroundings with signs!"
Name Recommendation:
Since you called the control room a fish tank. The slab could be called the S.U.M.P. Sumps are used to hold and filter water in fish tanks.
Super Ultimate Mega Powerplant. Or something like that.
