    I love the effect acheived by pre-eqing the DI, especially in the boxy area. Making it less energetic instantly turns the tone into a snappier, more precise thing, without the ''scooped'' texture...

    In the past year, I started making short covers of songs and then trying to make the mix sound like the original song, I originally did some tone matching stuff, using Zagreus by Periphery, coincidentally, and I've had pretty good results. They're not exactly the same, but doing different styles gives me a bunch of different templates to choose from as a starting point for new mixes. It's also interesting to choose drum, guitar, and bass sounds to try and figure out how your favourite recordings came about. It gets you out of your own shell and you get to try new things! Other than that, always use a reference to at least get in the same ballpark. My mixes got so much better once I started referencing.

      I've done the same before. It's a great way to learn what to listen for in different tones and also why you enjoy certain mixes 😊

    Good video! I've learned (and still learning) the most important thing is the clean DI track. Would have been nice if you spent a little time on the guitar you used (tone knobs too)... although maybe you have a vid on that already? 😁

    you know guitars and distortion doesn't always have to be about making it an alto instrument, particularly metal distortion done right is letting cleaner lows and mids come through with out having to pull back any muddy situations... i feel like marshall or orange is still yet to be contended with, as the distortion mechanics seems to be more digital as we've apparently progressed...

    This might be a stupid question but I recently tried to make the switch to DAWs and whatnot for different/better tones than my irl setup. I have been using the Rocksmith USB cable to connect to the PC. I heard something about high z and direct inputs and whatnot and my guess is the reason why my tone sounds bad is because of that cable and not using the actual audio jack.
    Do I have to use an actual audio jack or is USB fine? Does it matter which cable? I have a THR10C that has a USB connection and that seems to perfectly replicate the amp on my PC speakers/headphones.

    • @MOMetalProductions
      @MOMetalProductions  3 місяці тому +1

      I have no idea about USB cables but what is widely done is an audio jack into a interface and then into the PC. What matters is that you can get the Direct Input (DI) to sound good

    • @MOMetalProductions
      @MOMetalProductions  4 місяці тому +1

      Its regularly going on sale, I think I got it for only 15$ at one point.
      Otherwise you can achieve the same thing with a normal eq, just have steep low and high cuts and close off a certain range of the mix. Put your reference track in the session rather than in a plugin and that should work perfectly 😊

      The concept of "real music" makes 0 sense. Music is supposed to be open to creativity. There shouldn't be a definition of what music "is" and "isn't." Quite an immature statement.

    Does anybody else just mess with the Bass, Mid, and Treble knobs until it sounds good? This is way too deep for something you would never be able to replicate live, and a lot of unnecessary steps.
