  • Part 3 of 3. We are up in the Vic High Country behind Licola, we camped on the Caledonia River, such an awesome spot. In the morning we packed up camp and headed back up the Dingo Hill Track.
    I had been having issues with the troopy all weekend, it wasn't performing as it normally would. To say the least I was nervous about tackling the Dingo Hill Track. As I later found out I had driven the whole weekend in 2WD. As seen in the previous 2 videos.
    I hope you enjoy the adventures
    Thanks to Braydon and Chris for coming along.

    A few years ago Caledonia River Track was a series of difficult mud holes. There were some bushfires during which the CFA made a base near Dingo Hill track and they filled all the mud holes with rocks, so now it's an easy drive - but still awesome. I don't think you would have got through with 2WD in any vehicle back then.

    • @aguyandhistroopy
      @aguyandhistroopy  Рік тому

      Hey Ein, thanks for watching. Yeah, the troopy doesn’t like big bog holes, no clearance with the rear springs and hangers etc so I’d struggle in 4WD drive most likely f@&k all chance in 2WD ! 😂

  • @AustralianImage
    @AustralianImage 2 роки тому +2

    You should have seen what Dingo Hill was like in the early 80s, it was considered Australia's hardest track back then, with maybe two switchbacks on the entire length. It had lots of broken 4WD bits on the side of the worst parts. Had to pull a Troopy back onto the track one year as it had slid completely off the track and only saved by a long tree that had fallen along the track's side. I suspect that the seats in the Troopy had to be pressure washed clean after that incident.

    • @aguyandhistroopy
      @aguyandhistroopy  2 роки тому

      Could only image how difficult these tracks were back in the day. But in saying that… they would of been better days back then. Have to give it to the pioneers of this country, they cut some pretty awesome tracks into some amazing places.

      It’s down the bottom of Dingo Hill Track, you cross the Dingo Creek, then the Caledonia River once from memory and it’s before the second river crossing on the LHS as the track goes up the hill.

    Hi there
    I subscribed long time ago and regularly check for new videos from you.
    A big thank you for taking time and effort to record your trips, to share your experience and to teach people about a lot of things related to VHC and 4wd.
    Purpose of me as a viewer would also be to give some sort of the feedback to you.
    I would like to ask you to put some accent or give a little example on how important is to keep our beautiful environment clean and tidy.
    Even if all people at the start of their videos ask viewers to respect mountains, forests, rivers, tracks and roads, camp sites... not leaving rubbish everywhere or not destroying grassy areas or tracks...it will still be some doing totally opposite.
    I believe we all agree this is serious issue in the 4wd community.
    If more people go that way we all could be banned of going to those places or to pay to go there, or to make a booking, or...who knows.
    Beside all that I like to watch you going and recording the tracks I just recently travelled or some I am planning to do.
    If I see you one day somewhere there I will definitely come across and say hello and to thank you in person.
    Thank you again mate.

      Hi, yes it’s something I should mention in my videos, I’m still new at this UA-cam thing, and often get back from a trip and think I should of done that or said that.
      I’m all about respecting the bush and everything out there, definitely not into ripping up tracks, vandalism, or leaving trash out there, my actual pet hate is seeing cans and stubbies left in fire pits.
      I appreciate your feed back and will endeavour to remember to mention in my new videos from now on and to pass on the message.
      A lot of UA-camrs have been on this topic lately, which is great to see. Hopefully people take it on board and we are able to keep getting out there and exploring our great country !

Not sure if they do reduction gears for troopy's but it would be worth checking out to sort out the runaway problem on steep descents. Cost $2300 intalled, a hefty price to pay for a bit of peace of mind and safety but as you know in the High Country one day you will run into a steep mountain that'll make your life flash before your eyes. Life > $2300.
