Who gave this video a thumbs down? My mouth was watering the entire time! Thank you for an excellent video...we're hoping to get a wood cookstove in the future!
WOW!! New sub 🌟 Thrilled to find your channel as I’m new to cooking on a wood stove.. we have one in our Sugar Shack where we’re currently spending LOTS of time for Maple Season...Much blessings 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Looks yummy! I remember from little house on the prairie books that Almanzo Wilder's mom refused to bake the round ones. She said she didn't have the time to turn something that could turn itself (or something to that effect lol).
I just love your kitchen, it reminds me of my grandma's house/cabin here in TX. I just loved this video and the bread making one I saw first. Thank you so much for sharing your home!
Thanks for the upload. You have such an amazing kitchen, I love the old school farm house kitchen. I can't wait to get my coal stove installed and burning. Hopefully I will have the rest of the flue pipe in a week or so, can't wait, its going to be epic. Donuts look sublime.
Boy does this bring back memories. My grandmother made some of the best deserts. I remember as a small child she did this in the summer kitchen so as not to heat up the house. She made pies, jams, etc. We would go out & pick berries & fruit. She would turn those into preserves.
I have been buying and storing my oil lamps for emergences I will be getti them out and using them very soon. I just orderd a wood cook stove yesterday I will be going back and watching more videos thank you!
Hi, the donuts turned out great yesterday!!. I don't subscribe much, yet i went ahead and added you. Thanks . I made topping by an old chocolate fudge recipe which turned out great just after putting a clear glaze on
Oh you made me hungry for doughnuts lol I only clicked to see your wood cookstove. Think I'll make a little extra dough today cause I'm baking bread anyway so I'll see how I do with these. I've also heard of them twisting the dough so they'll flip themselves so I'll try that & see what happens :)
So Glad to see you back hun =) I was walking down memory lane a few weeks back which caused me to make some of my own =) didn't have powder sugar so I used a cinnamon and brown sugar glaze Yummm
I think my husband is gonna love you. lol. Found this video when looking for how to bake bread in my wood cookstove, and now I have another non diabetes friendly thing to make. lol. We're all gonna die, but it will be with SUGAR! Kidding. If there was a diabetic donut recipe that actually tastes good, I would be on it. But right now I really have to minimize modern wheat due to health issues, but am working on learning so I can use the expensive stuff without crying when I burn it. Thank you for your video!
P Colvin I totally understand, I crave real home made bread but my brother who happens to be a Chinese medicine practitioner wants me on a gluten free diet and though I have found a half decent gluten free bread it's just doesn't compare to a quality loaf of wheat bread.
MaZEEZaM hello you mentioned your brother being in Chinese medicine, does he deal with multiple sclerosis? I have been searching for a real Chinese medicine Dr. for years. Please have him contact me if he is taking new patients. Thank you
wanted to let you know & thank you for both the recipes ( bread & donuts) and gold and white flour.. I now buy only that and their corn meal..the down side is friends want bread .. rolls or my bread sticks all the time lol..but living in the woods in Rvs ( we have two lot and two 5th wheels.)I want to try my best to keep to natural foods.. I do wish for a tiny cabin and great kitchen.. ahh yes we can dream right? lol
Your hair is so beautiful long. I use to have long like yours. Now homesteading I keep my hair short. What do you like better cake or yeast donuts? I love you cabin. Your kitchen especially. Love you cindy
Middle hole maker on the doughnut cutter doesn't get the shearing advantage that the outside cutter is getting. The hole just moves together as a unit with the doughnut, it's basically cutting by pressure only and you will keep having this issue no matter how sharp. I would suggest that you purchase a small circle cutter the same size as the hole ring in this cutter and just do an extra cut after doughnut falls out. However, this will create a more uniform product and you may lose some of the unique character of your fried goodies. Nice video and beautiful charming place, much respect and envy!
Donuts look delicious, my mom used to make them when I was growing up but not on a beautiful cookstove. I have a question not about cooking but about your long hair....any secret homemade recipes for hair tonics? I remember seeing a video about the Sutherland sisters from the late 1800's and each of the 7 sisters used a special recipe for hair growth and they all had hair that reached the floor and was 4 inches thick in width. I love your videos and everything about the way you live the Simple Life. God Bless you all.
nice video, I was watching because i want to see how a coal stove works. I recently bought a house and it has a coal boiler and stove in it so i need to know how to make these machines work.
Thank you so much for your videos! :) What recipes did you use for the glaze and chocolate glaze? Would love to do these for my littles (and us ;)) !! :)
Hi and thank you for watching. I used a powder sugar glaze for the the clear one. That simply called for organic powder sugar, 2 to 3 cups, 1/2 stick melted butter and then enough milk to make thin. The chocolate was powdered sugar (3 to 4 cups) soften butter 1/2 stick, 4 to 5 table cocoa and then enough hot water to make pasty. If that one becomes too thick you can thin it later with more hot water. Thanks again!
Your donuts look yummy =) I've been wanting to make donuts for a long time. low carb diet=( I think I will make them for my birthday. =) p.s you should use a kebab skewer to flip and take out your donuts so they look pretty, no fork please =)
Hi and thank you for watching and the kind comment on our vids and home. We use oil lamps a lot but our home is wired for electricity so we do use it periodically/more then we want :). Thank you!
+Sarah pauline Hi Sarah and thank you for watching! Actually I fry foods so seldom anymore that it is worth it to me to just replace it. I do know that many people who fry regularly keep their oils for a year or more and just ad to it as they need to. My thing is many oils when heated too high become carcinogenic. I don't know the specs on long this takes or even if all oils do but again, I fry so seldom that it's just not worth it to me and when I do get in a mood and go on a frying frenzy I don't have a problem using it for a few days but after that I'm done. Hope that helps, you might want to do some research if you don't have any qualms keeping the oil, many folks are fine doing it. And as long as it doesn't go rancid you could use it. Thanks again for watching!
A lady that knows her way around the kitchen and can produce some nice looking donuts. For doughnuts do you add extra shortening to your basic white bread so they would be more tender.? How deep is the oil in the pan that you are frying with, would a normal 12 inch fry pan work.?
I had to laugh, my grandmother would have ushered out of the kitchen LOL until your hair was pulled up. LOL She ran a restaurant and hated women to come into the kitchen with their hair down, they would have shut down her shop. I've tried this method, but the dough is not sweet enough, so perhaps it would work as well with added sugar to the recipe. Nothing like homemade donuts and its a technique I hope to master. Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
I love watching all your videos, do you ever put your hair up? I have long hair and get am so afraid I'll light my hair on fire while cooking, so I put it up. thanks for all you share with us!
Hi and thank you for watching and commenting. Yes I do put my hair up often:) Wearing it down while cooking has never been an issue though, however I do try to be very careful! Thank you again for watching our channel!
I was wondering how your able to burn 3 coal oil lamps and not feel sick? I burn one kerosene lamp and my stomach starts to burn? My wick is turned down so not to smoke and yet your lamps even look brighter.... what do you burn in your lamps? How is it that it doesn't seem to bother you? Thank you.
If I was to cook doughnuts, would have to close the windows, cops in my neck of the woods can smell a doughnut a mile away. Would have the whole police department at my house.
Your kitchen and wood stove is amazing and am sure those doughnuts were extra tasty! Yeast doughnuts are the way!
Thank you! Thanks for joining us!
Lady, those donuts look fantastic. I want a glazed, plain, and a chocolate. Your family are lucky people.

I remember from little house on the prairie books that Almanzo Wilder's mom refused to bake the round ones. She said she didn't have the time to turn something that could turn itself (or something to that effect lol).

I love all donuts LOL! Just depends on my mood and the donut topping :)
They look fantastic! May I ask, are you frying in lard? - oops! Didn't watch long enough before asking "organic palm" oil. Thank you ;)
:)
Lard will work. It won't hurt the taste at all.
You made me so hungry.....lol.
I wanted to rich out and get me one yummy 😋

Oh my, they are indeed! Maybe too good as they are hard to quit eating!
You have great vids and love your home. just wondered do you always use oil lamps or do you also use electric at all?
Hi and thank you for watching and the kind comment on our vids and home. We use oil lamps a lot but our home is wired for electricity so we do use it periodically/more then we want :). Thank you!
How do you make your chocolate and clear glazes? These look great and I would love to make some for my family. Thank you!
Those look amazing!❤️
👍
Thankyou for sharing this video info, love it I did.
Thank you for watching!
Lived this video, how do you save/store your oil for reuse? How often can in be reused?

love your home, stove and your hair, mine keeps breaking off and getting shorter all the time sad
Oh how I miss this kitchen.
Beautiful wood stove. Would love to have one someday. What is the cost of that one?

Enjoyable to watch, thanks for sharing. Btw Palm oil 😢 I hope it's certified Chimpanzee friendly.
we use a roll of biscuits from the store to make our doughnuts but never have done glaze or chocolate. I'll have to look into that.
♥️
💞💯💯💯💯💯👍!!!!
Can I ask where did your dough bowl come from?
louv it
I had to laugh, my grandmother would have ushered out of the kitchen LOL until your hair was pulled up. What oil did you fry these in?
Powerful women.
What size frying pan is that?
It's a Lodge 16 inch diameter pan.
Love this method of cooking, but we could never eat all those donuts!
I love watching all your videos, do you ever put your hair up? I have long hair and get am so afraid I'll light my hair on fire while cooking, so I put it up. thanks for all you share with us!

thats all I can see...hair!
DO YOU HAVE A DONUT RECIPY THAT HAS NO CALORIES? LOL, JUST KIDDING. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. i JOINED.
Darker is better!!
Man i freakin love Donuts... just saying
Now, don't forget to remind you're family to eat those doughnuts fast before they get stale. Sure .
If I was to cook doughnuts, would have to close the windows, cops in my neck of the woods can smell a doughnut a mile away. Would have the whole police department at my house.
That might be a nice way to thank them for their service :)
