Just to let you know! Buy some PB blaster spray lube. Spray all the points of what you're working on. All your bolts and connectors like fuel pump lines with PB blaster and try to rotate the lines back and forth before putting the tool in. They do get dirt and grime in the springs that hole the lines together. So they need a little more PB blaster. Spray all rubber hoses spay them as well and try to rotate them a little. But with any bolts try to tighten before you try to break them loose. I have 6 Ford Explorers from 1991--94 and 5 Ford Rangers all with the 4.0 in them. All of them but 2 explorers are 2-wheel drive. Next time you have to pull the fuel pump out or the tank best to remove the rear drive shaft. It gives you so much more room to work. Are you in Calif I'm in Moreno Valley. I know everything there is to know about the 4.0 systems. But nothing on the 4x4 systems. I've done 3 reseal engines and done 4 full-on clean-ups in the engine bay. On Facebook on LEE Reed look me up and ask questions
Can you do a video on vacuum hose correct connection on the 93/94 Ford Explorer ? I need to know that and where exactly does that top vacuum hose connect to on a manual shift ? I've been to the ford dealership and because my explorer is old there is no info on it. Help me please...
Try doing that with a Wisconsin Explorer! I am currently doing the same exact job and got two eyes full of rust flakes. Even with wearing safety goggles, Welcome to the snow belt up here. lol.
Good video. Just one comment/question. I replaced a fuel pump on a Tacoma once and used the screw on clamp in place of the pressure clamp that came with the pump as I also prefer the screw on. The pump quit working within a year and I took it back apart and found that the fuel hose had softened to the point that the clamp was not tight and the fuel was being pumped outside the hose. Since then I figured all fuel pumps used a pressure clamp. Am I wrong?
Thanks for sharing your video. My 1994 explore has been running rough down the road I have to give it gas it seems to bog down until I give it more gas then it kicks in it runs that way on inclines and when it heats up as well. I have replaced the fuel filter last week and thinking that was the problem which it did not, check engine lite comes on and off all the time. So do you think I need a new fuel pump? I know it is hard to trouble shoot by not test driving. Or is it some other problem?
I’m experiencing the exact problem on my 93 Eddie Bauer. I’m hoping it’s just the filter and not the pump. I’ve changed many, 93 Jeep GC(where previous owner was nice enough to extend all hoses n lines so I can just unbolt the straps and it comes right down to the ground nice and easy), done a 98 chev 1500 that really was no fun, and the best, easiest was my 97 Accord, it was just accessible from the trunk! Wish SUVs were that way! Heck there’s plenty of room or places you could pull up carpet and get to top of tank! Sorry for the rant! Just frustrated since I got a great deal on this immaculate 93 Eddie Bauer, now this, after a total redo of the radiator and water pump system!
Just curious as to why you did only the pump and not the whole assembly? Is there some advantage to that? Because that's a very old sending unit at this point and that's what always seems to go out. I did the whole assembly on my 91 F150 and it has worked out very well. Keep up the awesome content Jimmy!
Sorry I wasn't clear, I realize the sender is apart of the pickup assembly that's why I wasn't understanding from your earlier comment how it's possible that you have a new sending unit since you did not change the pickup assembly
Funsies. It's what I get to do with my old 93 Explorer. Doesn't look too bad. Thinking I'll just grab a Delphi unit that's already to go with the sending unit.
Yooo I've watched this before (was suspecting mine going out soon) but after rewatching I totally missed that pro move leg-jack-pump at 17:45 😂👌 That's going in the arsenal
Where do I find this video! I’m all about the top access to fuel pumps in so many trunks and don’t understand why SUVS n trucks don’t have the same option(although after doing a 98 Chev Z71, I’d unbolt the bed n jack it up rather than drop tank!
I watched the video on rebuilding the m5od I have the same trans and need to rebuild it is there anyway to find out the number of teeth on the one piece to order the parts without taking it apart?
Johnson's Gee-rage okay I was wanting to order it before hand so I could have the parts ready when I pulled it out since it is my daily and have no back up
I love the video. Well done !
Thank you 👍. Getting ready to do that in Roseburg LOL 🇺🇲

There are many types of different hoses maybe you used the wrongetype of hose
There are specific hoses for each job

Customer didn't want to pay for the whole assembly. The advantage is you'll have a new sender that's not about to crap out.
Johnson's Gee-rage The cost part makes sense, but I'm confused about the sending unit part, you didn't change the sending unit did you?
Gabe Wall nope. just replace the pump. everything else was reused. sender is part of the pickup assembly.
Sorry I wasn't clear, I realize the sender is apart of the pickup assembly that's why I wasn't understanding from your earlier comment how it's possible that you have a new sending unit since you did not change the pickup assembly
0pl I've np09mm😊plp
jeez looks a lot easier than damn gms. 2 out of 3 had to put new fuel senders
The fart at 22:40😂
Nice job, buddy.
Since it wasn’t running how did you get it into the ramps?
Floor jack
@@justhes awesome thank you. I need to replace the pump on a 96’ explorer. Your video was perfect. Exactly what I needed.

Just did it yesterday its pretty easy.
How to put the clamps back on feul pump
Not a lot of salt in Oregon? That thing looks clean underneath compared to something here in Ohio.
you got straps. it is only temporary unless it works.
is she your wife, girlfriend, neighbor? i hope you get compensated well.
You should never try to run it dry
my 96 has an issue with the fuel pump, not sure how different it is but i have an idea
I'm cutting an access door on top like the wild Russian dude on UA-cam did.. a little risky but...

All I know is, I had to order a kit specific for the year of my trans.
Johnson's Gee-rage okay I was wanting to order it before hand so I could have the parts ready when I pulled it out since it is my daily and have no back up
Right in the instructions : "Do not run pump dry!"
After all said and done how many ugga duggas do you think it took?🤣🤣
i hear the icecream truck.
