Recently bought an Apple Extended II in wonderful condition with SKCM dampened white Alps. Its sounds and feels amazing and with a 30€ tinkerboy adapter its USB compatible and even supports Via! Can recommend
the closest you could get in a modern board is probably an i-rocks blue switch, which is like a Zeal Clicky, but it is more in line with ALPS switches in footprint.
What about Matias click? It is based on the later SKBM switches with improvements like reduced ping, better reliability, and about the same tactilty as the SKCM Amber switches heard here.
@@justin6581 I've heard good things about more recent batches of matias switches, from what I know they still need some work to sound good but a lot of the reliability issues are fixed on the clicky ones. I still lean towards the i-rocks mostly for the feel and sound being more defined/ closer to Alps (to me at least) and MX keycap compatibility. That said, i-rocks aren't easy to do full builds with these days
They used two keyboard suppliers for the IIC. ALPS is the vastly better model. Unfortunately you have to open it up to know which keyboard it is when buying one. The ALPS has an aluminum frame while the other has a plastic frame. The ALPS has a much better feel and sound.
I think this is an early model. It either came with the best feeling switches or one of the worst. The best being amber Alps and the worst being the god awful hairpin switches
No I don’t really like it so sorry about that I’m not really sure what to say about that because it’s not my style but it’s what I think you should get and sorry 😢😅😖😣🥺😩
I moved to another country from London and i left like 10 of these behind and 40 apple mechanical keyboards behind. The pain is real now
They're really expensive now
People are fr hyping over finding extremely dirty and used ones in the wild
it was released in 1984 not 1977.
Bro probably just looked up when the original II came out not the IIc
yup those Alps SKCM switches is definitely not from 1977
The IIc actually came out in 1984, IIRC.

I use an Apple Extended keyboard at my work with Alps Orange ❤ so satisfying
Sounds amazing
I have wanted one of those for so long.
god damn the sound is amazing

The computer was actually released in 1984.
The Apple Portable sounds great too!
Very proud of mine! sadly not a colour version.. but still I love it
Alps SKCM Amber switches. Very nice
[Mechanical keyboards have entered the chat]
Alps SKCM switches slap hard. Try zeal clickiez, they are Alps clickleaves in an mx housing.
im begging for someone to drop a framework board in there
AND IM OBSESSED WITH DEKU°!
wut?
Wow. This looks amazing. And such good condition :)
I use the apple 2gs keyboard with salmon alps key switches

The delete key was.... deleted XD
When apple used great keyboards for portlable computers
Amber Alps in all its glory. Shame it was only in the IIc.
Not me expecting Sean Kingston to start playing...
Are those amber alps I hear?
Omg I've been looking for a good priced Apple IIc with Ambers but they always get snatched before I can act on them.
Nice sound test!
apple has always been decent with their keyboards. Even the modern scissor switch membrane keyboards outpace other rubber dome based keyboards
Ehh not really. They used in the 80s to be incredible now they kinda flat out suck
do we know what kind of switch they used. and is this still operational with the floppy disc??? I remembe them from high school in the 80s
Amber alps
Apple doing apple things. “Integrated keyboard” like that’s a fucking improvement. JUST PLUG A DAMN KEYBOARD! But fuck modularity and options right?
Someone discovered Alps switches
as someone who uses blues by choice , i like this
Blues are NOT even close to Alps. Cherry mx blue is rattle. Pure disgusting rattle. This is way better
SKCM Ambers are the best clicky experience. Bar none.
I remember these!
It sounds like a thoky cherry Mx blue
Pretty sure the Apple IIc was released in 1984, not 1977. Maybe the original Apple II was 1977?
ibm model m >
yes you can
The Apple IIc usually has the worst of the Apple II keyboards (though early models do not) the best keyboard on the Apple II series is the IIe.
I think this is an early model. It either came with the best feeling switches or one of the worst. The best being amber Alps and the worst being the god awful hairpin switches
Isn’t it basically and older version of the Raspberry Pi 400
Most PCs at the time was inside the keyboard and I think the older version of the pi 400 is more of the Amiga 500
Those switches called Alps SKCM Amber it modern mechanical can’t make that sound because Cherry MX suck
theres a reason these go for half a grand on ebay
*half a mansion
Sounds like topre? Who’s with me?
Sounds like the computer at my hospital
amber alps mm
Released in 1984 not 1977…
sounds like the sims keyboard
So poppy
you can just get a custom keyboard that sounds the same
The look is nice, the sound, not so much
Sounds like a clicky membrane
No it's not??? It doesn't sound like that???
Interesting
Sounds like my razer keyboard with blue switches 🤔
Jesus Christ do people have ears. They sound miles different the mic he's using doesn't give it justice.
Sounds like cherry blues
No... No it doesn't. Not even close. Cherry mx blue are wayyyy higher pitched, tinnier, and way more annoying and rattley
Clicky, dude. Fetishizing something old for the sake of it being old. Cool board, let’s get new switches and be honest.
sounds kinda like topre
maybe it sounds better in person but that sounds is terrible lmao
No that's just how they sound :)
@@KillerSpoon575no it's the mic
No I don’t really like it so sorry about that I’m not really sure what to say about that because it’s not my style but it’s what I think you should get and sorry 😢😅😖😣🥺😩
