Learned more about painter in this 35 min video than in the entire 4 years (including university studies) that I've been a 3d artist. Please don't ever remove this video!!
To be honest, I think that is the best starter tutorial for Substance Painter I have seen until this day. With that video, learning substance would have been much easier a couple of months ago :D
Hi ! I know this video is 5 years old, but still, it helped me a lot. But I want to ask, what would be the closest filter to do something like the halftone effect ? Since I can't find it, I guess it doesn't exist anymore ( I search on base substance filter & and the substance asset website )
The submission is separated in 2 categories : pro and student. What do those mean? Do we need to submit our entry in one category depending on our experience with substance painter?
what replaces the 'directional gradient for painter' generator in current SP release? 🤔 tried to use their gradient filters - they suck (or may be i dont know how to use em).
I want to joint the contest, but what the hell dude? The contest is already going to finished 3 days from now? Cmon dude, this video is highly underpromoted for such an international contest. There's even less 50 people commenting here!
So why did you even complain, dear? :/ If you can't download the program you probably don't have a strong enough computer to even run the program. ._. If you saw this video earlier you probably wouldn't even participate with your reasons, so get on with doing something else you can afford to do. Take care and good luck.
what is the purpose of creating a material instance... I am not able to have multiple material instances... The name main shader changes to the new one and the main shader is gone ???
These change on a rotational basis, they were available back then but not anymore, we try to highlight new materials. If you have a Substance subscription you can access all materials though.
making the car shiny is just a black and white texture called roughness. The subsurface scattering is usually set up separate in the material shader using whatever program you are rendering in. Usually a node bases shader setup.
We typically do announce the contests in the newsletter emails. However, with this contest we launched and then postponed the email notification 1 day later as to not bombard users with emails. It worked out that we happened to have been emailing several communicators with the sales and didn't want to be too obtrusive.
Thanks for the video. When I add 3d Linear Gradient, I don't see anything in parameters, there is only balance and contrast options. Does anyone know the reason?

Honesty, this is the best tutorial for Substance I have found so far. It has taught me so much, all the things I needed to know. Thank you!
Glad it helped! Did you watch the new Painter robot tutorial we did recently? This one's getting a bit old compared.
@@Substance3D No, I will have to check it out. Thank you for the reply.
@@Substance3D Do you have a link for that please?

thanks for the tutorial, really cool results!
This contest is really awesome
Great video. Would have liked to learn more about the pbr-coated material itself.
Amazing thank you Reddit for discovering your admirable work
I submitted mine last night

Nice video.... You done everything very well... But, I guess you missed/forget texturing the Rims.
Yes and you can enter with demo version?

Ok, that hurt.
Where is the glass? The windshield looks like something out of a 1990s PC game.

Shame substance source isn’t available to people who’ve bought the programme only people who pay for the subscription model
agreed
I can’t seems to replicate the gradients because my file’s axis setup were wrong. Is there anything to fix that?
I have learned one thing in this video. There are too many shaders.
The 10 free assets including, 'car solid paint' isn't available to download. Can you help me please?

does it work with octane 4 3ds max? Do you have a plugin or i have to export all my mesh to your program?
for the contest you can use height and normal hard surface?? Greetings
6:10 How does the special shader here in substance going to transfer to Maya/C4d? thanks!

Why I don't receive emails about contest? I already missed metmat and David
Are you subscribed to our newsletter?
@@Substance3D yes of course, I'm receiving emails about sales, updates, but not for things like contest or challenges

Can't find the materials on Source :(
The 10 free materials on Substance Source have since changed, the exact selection from this video is no longer available.
I didn't find the rules of the contest, but can you make modifications on the car? Geometry I mean.
No you cannot sculpt or model the car
We don't allow modification of the car or high poly baking. However, we do allow modifications of the UVs.
Are we allowed to use alpha or normal map made from other software like Zbrush, Maya, or Max?
Sorry for off topic question. Will there be 'new features of substance painter' videos where
Wes McDermott talks?
Wes makes the best tutorials
It is out and it is here : ua-cam.com/video/LKj8XvLSA0c/v-deo.html
so this substance painter is for just for painting....

His mouth noises really mess with me.
the gradinet generator is applied to both texture sets individually :/ any fix ?
Make sure to check your Position Map settings, Normalization Scale. See @2:54
