That drone shot was awesome! It really gives you a feel for how large the land is you're farming and how tiny that tractor is in relation. AND that you have more than one field you farm. Pretty amazing.
As a drone part 107 pilot in command, I was going to say the same thing.
This is a great example of how you can use a drone to explain something in a way that's hard for people to comprehend, until they see how vast the land is and how you can still see the tracks from above.
Laura? Don't ever think we get tired of watching you work on the farm. You and Grant are such an inspiration to all the young people. So record away!
You gave a great life philosophy when you were replacing the plug and said "We are going to need some team effort here, Grant." That is why your farming and marriage are running strong! We love watching you two.
That drone view was awesome, to show the track of the pivot.
Great video! Two things: I love learning more about the details of operating the farm. It's not just planting and harvesting. You show it all. The second is showing how you and Grant are a true team. You share all the duties and we can see all the love. It truly warms my heart. Keep it going!
I am a truck driver that works for Orthmans I have delivered a lot of track tillers this is the 2st time I have seen it work 😊
I have an idea where you're from.
Besler builds them on the west edge of my town.
That was amazing to pan from the tractor to the sky footage of how much has to be done. Great shot! Shows how much dedication farmers have.
"Not a lot of hustle and bustle" like harvest, but a job that your brain can do while relaxing and still be equally rewarding.
Watching your videos about pivots finally explains why I spotted giant circles on the ground while flying over Nebraska some years ago.
That drone shot of the pivot tracks was really cool. It gives us a good view of just how big of an undertaking what you're doing is.
Always love your drone footage. Gives a real scope of how massive an undertaking this is.
As you are telling about each step the tiller does to close the pivot tracks, and you aimed your camera at step #3, I noticed that wacky roller looked rather medieval 😂 Still love ❤️ to hear you say “root” 😊
Great job explaining things to all of us who don’t live on a farm .
Love 🥰 you! Grammy
Hi Laura and Grant, I hope you took some rest over the past couple of weeks. It's always a treat to see a new video of yours pop up on YT.
Laura, I love the technology that you share and that you research the name of each part and their function. Very educational. Keep up the great work. Love you guys.
Laura, looks like the new tool is doing a better job of pivot track closing/smoothing than the previous one did. And the drone views show a LOT of pivot tracks to be erased! Great video. 😃👍🌽🌽🚜
Good morning Sunshine! It's nice to see you again and you appeared somewhat rested up. Keep working on recharging and getting rest. That new device did a nice job on the pivot ruts. The drone views really showed the scale and layout of what you are dealing with right now. Thank you for showing that to me as I learned something else I wasn't aware of. Have a great day and week Laura and Grant. Until the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Your knowledge of your equipment is commendable, you have your fingers in every phase of operation.for as young as you are very informed.I believe that comes from your grandfather and your dad and of course that big tall guy that hangs around you.great video, great video 👍👍👍😎😎😎
The drone shot really helps the perspective of how large the fields are & the length of the pivots. Keep up the great work.
I don't think "little" is a word I'd use to describe your farm after seeing those spectacular drone shots!
Thanks for sharing this part of your work. The drone shots are super. They show the vastness of your fields. Nebraska goes on forever.
Laura don't ever think we get tired of watching you work on the farm great video
Laura, thaanks for using John Deere combine I use to work at John Deere Harvester Works got laid off with thousands of workers in 1982
Awesome when I was a kid looking out of the window of that airline jet I always wondered why those farmers in the middle of the country watered in a circle.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Laura, next time you get on a creeper be sure to put your hair under your shirt.....I found that out the hard way because I'm a longhaired mechanic.
😢Ouch! That made my head hurt. Hair clips and pony tail holders rule!
From a semi chubby guy who wrenches I will also say on the creepers with the open frame like that, watch out cause I’ve had a my flab get sucked into the wheels before too. Some kinda different pain that was 😬
Glad to see your all rested up!
That is what I thought
That was a piece of equipment I've never seen before, and you explained it well. Beautiful job.
Laura the mechanic that sounds COOL!!!
🚜🚜🚜🚜 Good Show Laura! ... Bruce
Great drone shots!!! Nice to have a new video…was going through Laura withdrawal! 😉🌽💛
Hey Laura you and Grant are awesome young farmers and I'm a machinist of 45 years in an old man now but I still enjoy machine things and that pivot road closure that you have hooked up on your tractor and took the time to explain what all of those quote spinny things do " sure makes your videos fun thank you Laura and thank you grant cuz you're drone pictures are really getting better and better all the time Grant so keep those coming as well your friend Bob The Machinist in Utah
Really like the drone shots. Excellent explanation of how the tool works. Would be interesting to know if (or perhaps invent) a similar tool that could be attached to each wheel of the pivot to groom the path as the pivot rotates around the field. The tool wouldn't need to be as aggressive as this one, since there would be a smaller berm to smooth-down after each pass. Just a thought. Thanks for the great videos!
It would ball up with mud, and knock down more plants than letting it go til it's harvested.
And you’d need a bigger engine to propel the pivot due to the additional drag.
Thanks for sharing! That's pretty sweet!
Hey Laura and Grant always enjoyable to watch you guys handling the day to day responsibilities so well and efficient. Can you possibly offer some info on how you winterize the pivots and irrigation systems. I used to live in Northeast Ohio and we had to do a lot of prep for winter. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to explain the TRACK TILLr. It was fascinating (and that's no lie)!
Laura and Grant
Hope you took some down time. Time to do some post harvest maintenance on the equipment and fields. Loved the drone footage. Are you ready for your trip. Will we get to see some of it after you get home. Happy holiday season to all.
Very nice my dear friend, I like your all equipment, you have big farm and machines
Agree about the tires and hope that smoothes out the rock and roll. Creeper connents our true and no apple watch the fluid will disintegrate your band. Aloha
Laura please more drone shots. They are incredible!!!! Lots of love from Italy :)
Love the drone shots and your expert explanations! You go girl!
Glad to see you are not afraid to get your hands dirty even if you have long fingernails. Glad you 2 had a successful harvest, it just goes to show you 2 did all you could to get the ground ready to plant and water it and watch it grow...
That thing was doing a fantastic job.
That new track closer is really cool
I getting car or tractor sick watching you wobble from side to side in the cab.......great job....lol
Thank you for all of the harvest videos, I am glad you got some rest. Clover is disappointed that the cats were not in the video
Emery cloth the bolts and rust on those rear pieces then wipe with grease to protect them. Even repaint them for better protection other than the bolts and threads of course.
People ask what you do in the fall, tell em you are training for the Indy 500! Congrats on finishing harvest! Unsolicited tip; gaskets get snugged tight, O-rings only to snug. The o-ring is the seal not a gap filler. Gaskets are compression gap fillers.
Agree with your dad, fill pivot ruts with gravel during season. That track tool after dad treatment will really help.
Hello Laura, I am in Thailand. Corn fields for raising animals But the area is small. The process involves plowing, turning the soil, and trucks moving the soil. But for agricultural machinery in large areas It must be large enough to suit your space. This video is very useful as a guide to modern agriculture. Thank you for the great video. that you always allow us to see and follow your work May the agricultural crops be more abundant than expected, resulting in a huge yield. perfect and beautiful❤
I’m a new follower…and I have no idea why, but I’m fascinated with the machinery!!
Absolutely love the drone shots. Can we get a full farm fly over with narration?
Hello Laura and Grant. I am a new subscriber... started 2 months ago. Your vid turned up in a suggested watch on my youtube with a photo of Laura flexing her huge biceps muscle and it was like.. WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT. So I tuned in and loved the vid I saw and subscribed. I am a total city slicker from San Pedro, California so seeing first hand how you and Grant run a farm and all the hard work it takes is eye opening and amazing. And your providing America with food and other products from your far that keep the country fed,, productive and strong. Thank you again for sharing your life as farmers. Looking forward to the next videos and a long future ahead.
We're just getting started with cotton, milo and sunflowers here in west Texas!
Track Tillr works GREAT!!!!!
Been a few weeks since I watched a video ( been very busy ) love that you’ve gotten a drone ! Excellent footage and really adds to the experience.
The machine makes a great job of the ruts....stay safe
The drone footage is super cool 😎
Excellent video. Very informative good photography and outstanding drone footage along with a good choice of music. All together a great video.
Love the drone shots!!
I have two words for you, BIG TIRES.
The row ruts made it look like you had the shakes. Which you certainly did from the crop rows
Grant is very good with his drone flying and focusing. It's fun to watch.
That's a pretty neat, and very well working machine, the Pivot Track machine.
0:51 "Grant and I's tractor"? You talk funny in Nebraska. 😁😁
Hello from Oklahoma, Laura and Grant those 52 Nebraska 2023 Bean/Corn harvest days would make any person very tired.
Now that warm weather, we had 4 days of 80 degree November weather. Love the drone view can see where the pivot tracks were, nice new equipment addition for your AWESOME FARM. BE SAFE and get more rest. BIG WAVE
You are working hard day and night in your work. And I am very happy to see your hard work. Be happy and keep smiling.❤❤❤❤
You are looking great Laura.
Great video. You are very knowledgeable. Love watching. ❤️
Your ability to tell the story and willingness to jump in and do what needs to be done is wonderful!
Welcome back - missed you after harvest - hope you rested some
Great video! I grew up in south Texas spending most of my time in and around ranch life. As life went on i became a city life kinda person. Since i started following your channel, you have brought back so many fond memories. I really enjoy your videos and how educational they are. It is great to see you be so hands-on and be true to what its like. I did more cattle than planting and harvesting but you really help me get a better understanding of farming. Thank you for taking us along!
This was cool. Nothing bores me here, even fixing pivots over & over. Grant great drone work. I Still love farming. I know you have many years of farming behind you, so you and Grant are set. I get the reality of what I'm watching. That being said, I still would love farming. Cats? Where are the cats? It's cool seeing that side of you, Laura. Hope the creepers are staying away from you & family. Thanks for taking me along on my fantasy life. :)
Love Orthman Green!!!!
You and Grant show us, that work on your farm does not end with harvest. You are prepping the fields for next year!
Thanks Laura great explanation
Laura, you're just the best and joyful person to be with as you "drive around in circles all day"! You would make a great teacher or tutor with your explanations! - As an engineer, I can tell you are well able to explain complex things in simple terms, using very technical terms such as "spin-ee things"! I love everthing you two do with farm machinery and hydraulics, so this makes me happy. Blessings from New Zealand, David. ❤
Laura…thanks for all the knowledge. As a non-farmer I find it fascinating. Watching the pivot tracks being closed is somehow incredibly satisfying. Thanks for all you do!!
I can never get tired of watching you guys it's always brings me joy to watch you all in the field or doing whatever you do you guys are hilarious and bring a smile to my face God bless you all and keep you all safe in these holiday seasons ahead
That’s a pretty cool tillage tool and I love you & Grant’s videos
A peaceful easy feeling, that's what I got from your intro, followed by a fav strum by UMC.
Now, back to the show...😎
Great Drone shots to see the pivot tracks. Showing your viewers that a Farmer's Job is pretty much 365, only thing that keeps you out of the field is adverse weather.
Hi their, you might find the blanking bolt with the O'ring has a Torque setting. I work with them a lot and they will always work loose or split if not done up and seated correctly. Regards Richard 🇬🇧
I was thinking the same thing, wondering what the torque setting is. I’m actually pretty good at getting close to the correct torque setting without using a torque wrench. It amazed my dad who is a very qualified mechanic.
Who needs a torque wrench? Any good mechanic knows you tighten things to one grunt, two grunts, three grunts, etc.
@@TimothyBereman : another favorite technique is what I called “strip tight” - knowing when to stop just before stripping the threads out. I was pretty good at knowing when to stop turning on those as well. It made my dad cringe.
Nope, never got tired of watching you guys doing maintenance on the pivots and stuff. Keep them coming. I've never seen such a device you used in the pivot track closing and smoothing over so you can have a level field. Fascinating. Thanks a bunch for something new.
Thanks for showing what you do with the tracks, always nice to see what other farmers do in different states
Great video. Throughly enjoyed it from Annapolis Md.
Hi, ... watched you guys from day one and love you both ... I'm a farmer in New Hampshire. Great to see that you can actually drive a tractor and not just sit in the seat looking pretty while snacking. I have not experienced auto steer ... but it's on my bucket list. Sincere thanks for all of the education about your part of the country and all of the entertainment you provide.
Love the detailed explanation and demonstration - can't get enough of your channel. Regarding the rough ride, wouldn't this particular job be smoother with the big (wide) tyres? It has been an amazing journey with you this year... thank you for taking us along.
Harvest season or not always things to do but at least you don’t have to worry about weather damaging crops.
Love watching your channel
Concentric circles for days. That drone at the end give the scale. and doing that on all your fields must take time for sure. Good thing the ground isn't frozen yet.
Well i have really enjoyed the harvest videos. And this one was a bonus. I read 50 comments and i so agree with most. Never tired of a new video and you are amazing!
Grant
You have a good mechanic in you wife. She can repair the tractor with long finger nails. She will tackle any repair work. She is a keeper.
Thanks for showing us that implement that closes the pivot tracks. Hope you rested up from harvest. Take Care and Be safe on the farm Out
Enjoyed watching the video Laura and Grant 😊
Glade your back
From your aerial view in this harvested field, can see the pivot circles. There has been at least one comedy movie out for years, that mentions; *crop circles* . (Implying these might be flying saucer landing locations). Wow stuff for sure.
Oh, my gosh. The drone shot at the end really emphasized the amount of work you guys do. Amazing, as usual.
Laura and Grant- Thank you for sharing with us. I've learned quite a bit this past planting season and harvest. Keep up the great work. BTW you both would make excellent teachers.
If it was me before installing the sway bar mounts clean them with 93' gasoline and then spray paint them to prevent build up of rust! Tape the shaft of the tread to avoid cross treading to bolts...
Hey Laura greetings from Germany 🥰
Love your attitude and devotion to the land and all it involves.
i salute you and all the others who work from season to season providing for the needs of others.
Love your videos! I tried to post one that explains how complicated it is to build and install these irrigation systems so people can appreciate what it takes you doing to maintain them but UA-cam won't let me it looks like. It was interesting....I hadn't considered that the spigot closest to the pivot shouldn't put out as much water as the one the farthest that traveled a much greater distance and how that was dealt with, etc.
Rocking across those rows.. You should be yelling, YEEeeeeeHAAaaawwww😂
Cleanup in the end is always so satisfying. Fantastic job!
Wowow cool cupcake machine, this new one and the one you used to make the grooves where this new one is, it's much cooler, it's really good You could sell that old machine and use the money to pay for a new one.
The drone footage is fantastic !! Love seeing the wide open spaces of Nebraska. Great video.
