Braiding copper wire into a cuff bracelet.

- Braiding a copper wire cuff bracelet is a quick and simple wire wrapping technique that is versatile and effective. The hardest part of this wirework is getting good tension on the wires as you wrap.
I solved this problem by making simple handles that attach to the ends of the wires, giving me the ability to pull a tighter braid.
This is a short edited version of a longer play video if you would like to see the original here's a link

It's so cool to see this. I've always wondered if you could make your own version of a cuban link chain doing this method
Cheers Arturo, endless variations on a theme with this sort of thing. So many possibilities to explore … N
Wow. That is beautiful. So well made!
Thanks for that Maura, something girls learn to do from a young age … N
I hope you coat with some sort of anti corrosion solution, it’s a neat piece
Thanks Wavydavy, I sometimes use home-made polish as a sealant the same stuff as in this vid … ua-cam.com/video/KGy0Ix2nHrQ/v-deo.html … cheers … Nick
How much is one like this u have made? For arthritis in knuckles.. I believe brass copper is great for it. But must be made so as to not leave green markings ??
Is that correct?
Thx for sharing this process..
Australia 🇦🇺 viewer
Hi NiReeta in Australia, if I was going to sell copper cuff bracelets I suppose they will be between £10-£20. A lot of people say wearing copper helps with their arthritis. I would assume having it in direct contact with the skin something is absorbed into the body that helps with the condition.
I suppose having a green stain is all part of the process and if the copper was sealed to prevent this the absorption may not work so well … N
So fun to watch you make things just for the love of it!🤗
thanks Tammie, I do love making stuff … one of the things that keeps me sane in life … N
Fantastic video! Dramatic, informative, beautiful results. 🤩👍🎶🎻
thanks for that EMC, it feels a bit of a cheat converting old long play videos into new shorts … but it seems to work with the amount of views some of them bringing in … N
Love what you do Nick!
cheers Shaun, i thoroughly enjoy quality time spent in my workshop … N
Lovely
Thanks Jen … N
I was watching this when The Office theme song came on. Dang the drums of that really added to this song. Both dope. Dope combo.
Also cool video 😅
Nice one Skram, never know with music choice some people like it some people hate it … if it grabs me I’ll use it and have learnt not to worry if people don’t like it … cheers … Nick
LOVE YOUR WORK 😉👍
Thanks rachel, that’s nice to hear … N
Amazing video with great music 🎶

Nice 👌
Thanks Nature Lover … N
Great tutorial! You come up with some great tips and techniques. May I ask if you made your own draw plate? That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for that Heather, this wooden drawer plate I made has come in useful for all sorts of projects made from hard wearing Oak. Easy to achieve with a standard twist drill set that has half millimetre increments … cheers … Nick
Thank you for sharing
Really cool
Thanks Daniel … N
Dope.
What is the threaded silver piece with the set screw?
Figured it out! I just watched the full UA-cam video- they are handles!
Hi Darlink, my hands feel rather delicate these days and not as strong as they used to be. The handles really help with pulling a tight braid creating a much neater finished weave … N
I have 30 plus miles of comfort of various gauges in my backyard
One hell of a backyard to playing in … N
What is that torch you are using? I’m yet to buy a torch for heating metal
Hi Dimples, I was using two different torches in this video. The first was a Sievert Propane Torch useful and widely used because it’s economical as it connects to a large propane bottle also it has many interchangeable nozzles available from very small to very large. The second torch for melting the copper I was using a Smith’s Little Torch as it burns incredibly hot being run on a mix of propane and oxygen … N
green wrist incoming
sealing with wax helps prevent it … N
May I ask where to get the weights you use to Braid with?
Hi Kirsti, I made my own handles out of some scrap steel that I had knocking around the workshop … N
So you do solder the ends? Or just melt the tips toguether to form the ball shape?
Hi DKZS, having an oxygen and propane mixed torch that burns incredibly hot I’m able to simply melt the copper to form the ends … N
@@Nickscreativestuff Oh right, I see. I've got an old-school feet pumping petrol torch which works well with silver but not so much with copper. But good to know nevertheless, thanks!
So many options out there, that’s one I’ve never heard of petrol and foot pump sounds very old-school … N
@@Nickscreativestuff Hehe, yeah. One of many Traditional Vietnamese / South east Asian Metalsmithing tools.
I get a lot of comments with people being fearful of using a small butane torch, maybe I should suggest they use one of your petrol torches to try and get over their fears … 🔥😮🔥 … N
what gauge wire is that on the 7 strand braid? awesome work btw, looks amazing
Thanks for that Esckape, the copper wire diameter used for this braid was 1.4mm.
I went on to make this with silver here’s a link to the video if you’re interested ua-cam.com/video/m7YUB_Rj2AI/v-deo.html … cheers … Nick.
@@Nickscreativestuff well thank you very much for the quick reply, your vids kinda inspired me to get into this and it seems fun. keep up the fantastic work and thank you again
Nice to hear my videos inspire you to have a go … lots of fun to be had with a few basic tools … good luck with it …N
How can one keep their copper bracelet shinning?
A lot of people will regularly seal stuff with wax, oil or varnish and somebody recently mentioned UV resin works well … N
what`s name the music?
it’s called Timeless Drama from story blocks in LumaFusion … N
