It's always fascinating to see a baby go from infancy to toddler. The process they go through is remarkable. I'm not a mum yet but I have a lot nieces and nephews and I find that when I'm with them I don't realise that time flies.... They keep me that busy.
+Hyunwoo Sun And before you know it he'll start talking. And toddlers talking is the most adowable thing in this world. My youngest niece loves her "we're going on a bear hunt" story book. She can't read and yet knows it off by heart. Although you can't make out everything she 'reads' it's refreshing to see her point her little fingers on the words and looking up to make sure I'm concentrating. ^^
Hi Hyunwoo-san! I'm a bilingual Japanese/English speaker and just wanted to tell you that you are THE best UA-cam language teacher I have ever watched! マルチリンガルで、しかも独学で数カ国語を操るヒョンウさんに大変感銘を受けました。I'm currently learning French and Korean, and what a coincidence, looks like you are teaching those languages as well! The entire universe appreciate to have such a talented person like you! Woohoo- :) Will be watching your videos!
Such adorable baby! I don't even marry but this video gave me what it's really like to be a father! thanks for sharing. I've gotta go to say "I love you" to my parents :)
You are amazing. A lot of parents don't consider the things you do, they just go through the motions. Thank you for deciding to share your journey. I love to watch him grow, he's such a happy baby.
J'ai adoré la vidéo ! I could listen to you talking about your son for hours and hours because even if it's not always simple you seem to be a very devoted carring and loving father and I find it that's very wonderful !
Thanks so much for this video. Great to hear your experiences and to know you are having a positive time raising your baby son. Happy to know Joon will grow up with two awesome parents. Honestly, I always have felt like that I won't have kids for a bunch of different reasons. But seeing the love and positivity you can give, makes me think "Why exactly am I against the idea?". Maybe I'll just a get an equally awesome puppy. Recently, I was hanging out with my friend and her baby son. He is 15 months old. He can't talk but he can understand what you are saying. It was so odd to see this little person who looks totally clueless, yet who can understand a complex task like going across the room to pick up a coin to put into a money-box. Somehow I don't expect him to understand, "Put the coin in the box". But he does and it's astonishing to see. From a language point of view it's really interesting as well. 听力完善,口语一点都没有 怎么可能?
brod2man Yeah I think the 'silent' period when the baby can actually understand most of what you are saying and can't express their thoughts is a really fascinating period and also a period in which parents' and relatives' language habits have a huge impact on the baby's language.
Awesome video, very well made and thought out. My favorite statement said, "Happiness and confidence is contagious". I totally agree and will definitely keep that in mind. Thank you for sharing these great lessons. :)
Thank you for your amazing video! I deeply empathize with your idea that being happy and confident is contagious, and I think you are such an influential person in that way. I remember I actually took one of your open classes about writing English resume long time ago and it was great. Anyway, thank you for your video and hope your son will be always healthy and happy with you!
I love this video! Thank you for sharing, I will love my parents more now...! I like the idea of mindfulness. Multitasking can be stressful at times. Student life is hard. I'm motivated to learn Korean because of you. Thank you!
What a great video! I think I have already mentioned this, but Joon is my favorite toddler! He is so adorable! I think that you are an amazing father and I respect you for devoting so much time to your son and helping your wife. I wish you and your family all the best! ^^
The last "lesson" was cute hehehe ^^ your baby is growing so fast, I can't believe he's 9 months old >< Be prepared when he will start running everywhere haha! Thank you for this video, it was really interesting and well made! :)
This is a great video- a lot of wisdom here! Esp. where you talk about not multi-tasking as much, & staying in the moment. Joon is adorable! And I'm waiting for a follow-up vid elaborating on last point, how amazing your wife is. :)
Thank you very much for sharing hyung! I follow another youtuber called Chriselle Lim and she recently had a baby too and it's just amazing hearing from you guys. When a child, my parents were constantly fighting (they still do) and I feel this lack of positive energy very clear in myself as an adult. Fortunately I try to overcome this with other positive sources (like great youtubers haha). I try to be happy as it is a state of spirit, not something to achieve or regarding special things.. Before I diffuse myself even more, sorry for the huge comment haha I'll keep it short next time as usual.
Hyunwoo, Thank you for making this video. :) I hope you will post more videos about Joon in the future! It has been great seeing him grow through the posts on Facebook. I do not have children but I do have two nephews and I have learnt so much from them! :)
I still to discover some of what you have shared but I kind of know what you mean in some points because I have 5 nieces and two of those I participated in caring for them a lot of time.. it brings me pure joy by just looking at them
Hyunwoo, you're such an amazing person! I remember stumbking upon your videos years ago when TTMIK first came out and from the first time i watched your videos I was inspired by you! You're so passionate about everything you do and you're positive and thoughtful. And let's face it, just an overall cool person xD (also saw your b-boying stuff. Thumbs up!). Not only are you awesome at languages and at your job, but you seem like a genuinely kind and interesting person. You were the original solidification i needed in my resolve to start learning Korean. But stuff happens and life gets in the way, and my Korean studies fell to the back burner, but i never stopped following you and your journey! I was so happy for you when you got married, and then again when you had baby Joon. I've recently renewed my passion to really learn Korean, so I'm going to do my best! You put so much effort, passion, and consideration into what you do, and you do it well. That seems to hold true in this aspect as well, because you seem like such a great parent! Joon is a lucky little boy! I'm sorry this is so long lol but i just wanted to say that i'm such a huge fan; i really look up to you and i have crazy respect for you. Keep doing you!! Sending you and your lovely family love from Seattle! ^^
What a beautiful video! I got a little teary eyed haha. I really appreciate the way you keep us up to date with your amazing family. I love the IG videos of Joon :)
Hyunwoo, your video made me laugh so much and remember the days my kids were babies. It does get less hectic! And you've only hit the tip of the iceberg on what you will learn :) And you will be able to multi-task again at some point! It will become a requirement when they are in school LOL. Their activities, schedule, appointments, needs, wants... it's endless. Congrats again on your son, he is absolutely ADORABLE!
Thank you for sharing. I am not a parent yet, but your video made me curious as to what I was like when I was a baby(first word, when I started walking etc). I never thought to ask. I'm going to give my parents a call so they can tell me their experience.
Loved this video :D Ever since i was young, i wanted to have kids of my own. Can't wait until im married and the time comes :) Also, you and your wife seem like amazing parents! When he grows up, im sure he'll be grateful he had you both as parents.
You are an amazing person Hyunwoo! You are a great motivator for me, you taught me a lot of things, showed that learning can be fun and how to achieve what I want. I have never met nicer and more discerning person. You really deserve what you have achieved. I really hope that one day, if come to Korea, I will be able to meet you. I you ever want to visit Poland, I will be more than happy to be a guide for You!
Another smart, insightful video, Hyunwoo! I have learned so much from Abby as well. I think the most important lesson she's taught me is that I can do hard things. Having a kid is very hard work. They get sick, they have emotions that they don't know how to handle, they make messes, they demand more energy than a parent can give sometimes. These are all very hard situations. But Abby is 6 now and she is happy and well-adjusted and growing well, so it is obvious that, despite feeling overwhelmed and weak from time to time, I can do hard things. I am so happy that you are taking the time to document Jun's life and reflect on how his life is an extension of your own. Just like so many other things you've undertaken, it seems like all your hard work has made you excellent at parenting as well.
Molly Carmer Thank you soooo much Molly! I haven't met Abby in person, but from what I've seen from your videos and her letters, she seems to be growing really really well!! ^__^
.....no that I hadn't realised it already ( ...of course I did!! ;) ) ....but watching this video I KNOW I have found the BEST TEACHER to learn your Language: I'm sooooooooo grateful!! 선현우 씨 감사합니다!! =)
Hyunwoo, tell us about your plan about the languages you want to teach Joon. Will you speak to him in English sometimes? Maybe you'll speak English and your wife will speak Korean? I'm very curious.
Hey there :) I mostly speak to him in English and my wife speaks to him in Korean. I am sure he'll naturally pick up both Korean and English since we also have a lot of English-speaking friends around us. Once he is fluent in both languages, I will help him learn more languages if he wants to learn :)
Amazing reflection! Congratulations to you and your wife. As a midwife I love to hear the new found respect husband often have for their wives after seeing them pregnant and then giving birth. It's an amazing, very magical event! You grow a whole person who comes out through a very small exit lol. It's mind blowing, every time! Congrats!
Ooh, i just answered my own question with some googling. Turns out in Korea you measure it in lunar months. A pregnancy is about 9 gregorian months = 10 lunar months. in case anyone more than me was wondering :)
skumkakan Well actually, pregnancies in Asia (unlike the Western world) last longer. In America for example, after 9 months the doctor says the baby has to be born but actually the baby can stay in the womb much longer (which is good for brain development and physical growth). In Asian cultures, they let the baby come when it wants even if its closer to 11 months in the womb.
Everybody's experience is different, but here's what I've learned :)
It's always fascinating to see a baby go from infancy to toddler. The process they go through is remarkable. I'm not a mum yet but I have a lot nieces and nephews and I find that when I'm with them I don't realise that time flies.... They keep me that busy.
Great video. ^_^
Ji
Shamma Azmi Yeah it's amazing! I'm surprised every time I go home from work at how much he has grown during the day!
Kim Soo-Lee Thanks a lot! :)

I was smiling throughout the whole video :D
***** Thank you so much!
3:00 I heard "Was I stillborn as a baby" and I was like Hyunwoo I don't think you were stillborn
Same! It kept bothering me throughout the video cause I wasn't sure if I heard it right
His pronunciation wasn't 100% clear, but i knew he meant "was I stubborn as a baby?"
he just wants to be sure he's not a ghost

AWWW >.< that last comment tho :3 and your son is so cute!!!
Your son is so cute and funny

This video is so sweet!! Your baby is adorable and your family is lucky to have you!
This made me happy. :)
+LostDeku Thanks!

Great video. A big hug to you and your family from Brasil!
***** Thank you Gustavo!!
Elements of everything that I've come to love about UA-cam. One of the warmest, most real, sincere and adorable vids that I've seen.

Awesome. I love it. I take it you are raising your son to be bilingual?
TheLurkingPanda Thanks!! And yes, I'm raising him to be at least bilingual :)
Hyunwoo Sun Awesome. Hes going to be awesome one day. Don't forget to teach him tricks!

Kyung-hwa Sun 고마워 경화야 ㅎ
10 months??? I thought you just made a small mistake but you said it 2 times.
If I am a parent , I will let my child or children to laern more languages since I love langages

You keep saying 10 months. Do you mean these troubles stay with you a month after the child is born?
Joon is super cute!
Korean age- when baby is born, they are considered 1 month old verses most western countries where we count the month after birth as 1 month.
jaydork24
aah, that's interesting! but the side effects of pregnancy should still only last a total of 9 months though, right? :P

10 months??
I don't know if i want kids, think I rather play with my family kids instead of having one myself.
jason4275 One of my sisters seems to be debating the exact same thing :)
왜 마지막 말은 애처가 인증인게야 ㅋㅋ
