Question: If i wanted to make this for a 4 year old (20 inch head circumfrence approx) should I cast on less than 40 stitches or just knit less rows and keep the width of the hat the same?

Mine came out too small and I can't figure out why. I did everything perfectly. It's a nice hat but more for a child????
Annetta Verechia I'm sorry to hear that it came out small. Did you use chunky yarn?
Yes, I used super chunky yarn and the correct needles. (Lion Brand Hometown USA 100 percent acrylic super bulky no. 6 for hats) I don't knit particularly tight either. Really not sure why it's small but I'm just going to add more rows, probably about 10 more and hope that works. Thanks.
Annetta Verechia That is unfortunate. I don't have the hat on me otherwise I would have given you the measurements. You can try more stitches or a larger needle and let me know if it works for you

Well, crazy me, I figured it out. I only did 10 rows of rows 1 and 2 because it said 10 times for rows 1 and 2 and instead I should have done 20 rows all together....which will make it perfect! Sorry, my mistake....
