What I like about Lou
Is his attention & eye to detail and detail to style and art
The man loves his cars loves the energy that they give
A man with life & passion
Thank you Isle Sanctum. I appreciate your sharing and kind words.
That Randy guy has a massive collection of classic Mopars, and each of them are as cool as the next one! That 1960 Phoenix Dart is nothing short of awesome! He must have at least 10 in his collection. Wow!
Hi Michael, Happy to share Randy's "cool" collection with you :-) You're right, I'll be featuring all 10 of Randy's car that were in the collection. Stay tuned, Lou
Wow does Randy have quite the collection!
This is a great example of a often forgotten model.
Thank you to Randy for keeping the beauties for us and thank you to Lou for sharing it on the channel.
Hi Jeff, I agree, Randy has a nice collection. Good news! You're welcome. There will be more from his collection so stay tuned, Lou
Even in a video where almost all vehicles look better than in person, I can see the quality of the restoration. I am sure that it’s far nicer than it was when it was new.
Hi Dave, Thanks for sharing what you notice. Lou
Looks way better than modern dodge dart
Agreed.
It just looks fantastic! I still can't believe it was considered an economy car, as nicely styled and optioned as it is. Mr. Guyer has another great one here. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, I agree, hard to believe this was the economy model :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
The Seneca was the low trim version, some had the slant six
Thanks Lou for showing us this really beautiful Dodge Dart. Nice to see all the brochures in the trunk.
Hi Derek, My pleasure sharing this car with you :-) Lou
A real good one Lou! That paint job is absolutely perfect and whoever restored it is a master craftsman
Thank you Robert :-) Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car, Lou
You and Randy are just killing me. I don't remember seeing this magnificent machine on the road when I was a little kid in the 60s. It's a crying shame that American car manufacturers and so called engineers don't make cars with style and class anymore. I believe they just lack the imagination and skills that are involved in making them.
Hi George B., Happy to read you enjoy this "magnificent machine" :-) Good news is you're on the right UA-cam Channel for the cars you enjoy seeing, Lou
Wow! I bet that dashboard and interior create a driving experience of control and being in command of a significant machine. An era where YOU did the driving. Beautiful car Randy! Thanks Lou!
Hi Brian SD, Happy to receive a "Wow!" from you :-) Glad to read you comment. You're welcome, Lou
That stacked instrument panel and ‘stretch Armstrong’ steering wheel horn, on the ‘60 dodges, are one of the coolest ever.😎
My Dad had a 60 Dart Seneca - slant six and it was a very comfortable riding vehicle. It could carry five to six individuals very easily. Lot’s of leg room in the back seat! Thanks for sharing this gem with your viewers Lou!
Hi Rob, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Just a plethora in this gentlemen's garage. I'm in MN and I hope you see one of these on stellar examples on the street. What a collection.
Hi R J, Happy to share the collection with you :-) Hope you see one driving by you soon, Lou
@@loucostabile I'd certainly hope so. Only chance to see this beauty is at the best car show in the world. Happens at our State Fair Grounds off Snelling.
Saludos!
Hi Jaime, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Lou says this car is "absolutely fantastic" and I would agree with glee. What a stunning color combination and so few of these survive that it is a delicious treat to behold. Thanks for sharing another great car, Lou!
High praise ultraviolet tp :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome. Lou
Shocking that that is an entry level Dodge!! I really love the cross in the steering wheel and seats! That clock too and dash. That dash is kind of famous. A LOT of Chrysler in this Dodge. Another great car video Lou!
Hi Jeffrey, Happy to read the details you enjoy :-) Appreciate the kind words on this video, Lou
Very gorgeous car. I always feel that the '60 models are underrated compared to their successors.
Hi Caley, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Man that's crazy! No wonder it's a show winner. I noticed the red car up on the lift and how close to the end of the frame the frint wheels are, as if engineers already knew that would improve handling. This was a real find. Another exciting video. Thanks Lou.
Hi Rudolph, Happy to share this "Show Winner" with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
OMG, it's so much fancier than the '68 Dart my dad owned. I had no idea they made tha Dart in the early '60s. Thanks Lou and Mr. Got Fins
Hi Sabba_Dabba, Happy to read you comment on this car / video :-) You're welcome, Lou
A beautiful car and so well done. It's bigger than the Darts I remember growing up and in the 60s. Great video Lou and thanks!
Hi Gary, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Appreciate the kind words on the video. You're welcome, Lou
I had no idea that dart was around in 1960 OR that they made such a classy car ! That is just beautiful, thanks Lou
Hi Bruce, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
‘60 was Dart’s first year. Full-sized on ‘60 and ‘61, and even on Dodge’s ‘62 smaller big cars. Then down to the compact size we’re more familiar with from ‘63 on.
That dashboard is incredible!
Hi Tony, Happy to read you enjoy the dashboard :-) Lou
Wow. Randy has an amazing collection! I’m glad there’s folks like him out there that can afford to preserve these awesome beauties. Thanks Lou.👏🙏🇺🇸
Hi Ramon, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) My pleasure sharing Randy's collection with you. Good news! There will be more from his collection, so stay tuned, Lou
Stunning.... I haven't seen any of those older, larger Dodge Darts since I was a kid.. and that polydome 318 really sounds healthy, thanks Lou!
Hi James, Happy to bring back memories of when you were a kid with this car :-) Lou
Another incredibly styled Forward Look masterpiece, created by Virgil Exner and his design staff at Chrysler! This car just glistens - when I first saw it at Back to the 50s in St. Paul a few years ago, I couldn't take my eyes off its amazing interior - the door panels, the seats, the dash with its orbital clock! Selling with a base price of $2,988 in '60, this Dart Phoenix convertible, built on Dodge's shortest 118" wheelbase, likely stickered in the $3,600-$3,800 range. And Lou, ouch!, please don't compare the features of this rare gem to a '57 Chevy! Unfortunately, numbers of '60 Darts by model line and body style are not available, re the numbers of these Phoenix convertibles that rolled off Dodge's assembly line.
This model, the Dart series, was given its overall shape by Exner, but the body design was supervised by Cliff Voss, echoing Exner's original designs for the Polaras and Matador series. The same design strategy was followed for 1961 also.
Hi Noel, Happy to read your comment, and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Lou
@@TheDejael thanks for comments…..
The 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix was the top economic car in its time. To me is an amazing luxury classic car. All options were normal and it had all the equipment for a car ahead of its time. Thanks Lou for this great video and congratulations to the owner. For me it is a brand new classic!
Hi Juan, Happy to read you enjoy this "brand new classic!" :-) Lou
Such a rare find! No reproduction parts available for this one! Some body parts would be nearly impossible to find Not a common Chevy or Ford! I love it! This car is AMAZING with Factory Air and those other options. Too nice to drive!
Hi Craig, Happy to share this "rare find!" with you :-) Glad to read you "love it", Lou
What a beautiful MOPAR!!! Wow!
High praise :-)
Randy Guyer and I are kindred spirits, for our love of classic Exner Chrysler Mopars! Here's to the Forward Look, Lou!
Nice :-)
Love that you showed what it looked like with the top up.
Hi Aayla, Thank you for sharing the details of the video you enjoy, Lou
Yes, it's just fantastic. Doesn't have that convertible look with the top up! Beautiful automobile, indeed!
This car is an absolute work of art!
HI Christine, Happy to read you appreciate this "work of art!" :-) Lou
Strange decision by the original buyer, A/C on a 60's drop top but no power windows 🤔. Yet another unbelievable ride from Randy. Thanks 👍
Hi Terry M, Interesting. Thank you for sharing what you noticed. You're welcome. Good news! Randy has more to share, so stay tuned, Lou
That car is a poster child for that era! Wow...
Hi Jack, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
Wow, this is incredible. Most all of these turned to rust dust within five years. Huge save for future car nuts like me. Thanks Lou!
Hi M A, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Amazing restoration! That is the most unbelievable interior!
Hi steve20118, High praise for this restoration. Glad to read you enjoy the interior, Lou

NICE!
Beautiful restoration!
Hi Brock, Happy to read you enjoy the restoration of this car :-) Lou
Thank you, Randy and Lou, that is a nice summer car.
Hi Chris, Happy to share this one with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
That reminds me of spending a couple hours chopping our way through a black berry patch to rescue a Phoenix back in 76.... been sitting for years, but it started right up. The heater hoses were rotted so we found a couple plastic shotgun shells to block the outlet/inlets and away we went...
Nice work rescuing that car :-)
Hallelujah! Finally a car with a/c! Someone was smart back then...
:-)
255HP.!!! a lot for a Polyspherical. Orbital clock!!
The coolest clock I ever seen in a car!!
Hi Steve, Thank you for sharing the details you notice, Lou
This Car realy makes your Hart sing.
NICE !
Just do it! Crown Randy the Chrysler king 👑
Nice :-)
WOWWWWW, hey Lou, what a difference compared to the mid and later 60's Dart's that were the true compact vehicles, thats still a beast.
That dash is AMAZING
Hey Jim, You're right, nothing like the later Darts. Happy to read you enjoy the "AMAZING" dash :-) Lou
Wow! It almost looks like a baby New Yorker! Thanks Lou, I never saw one of these before! Who would ever think a Dart could look so classy! Lastly, the guy who once downed it must miss it dearly because you’ll never see another like this one! Takes your breathe away!
Hi David, Happy to read "Takes your breathe away!" :-) Lou
My parents had a hardtop version when I was a kid. Nice car, and looked great.
Hi Denny, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Parents car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

wonderful , thanks for presentation Lou !
Hi MyOldi, Happy to read this one is "wonderful" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Amazing. Whenever you do Chrysler products they remind me of what I want my my golf game - MO PAR!
N I C E !
I like it more than all the later year Dart body styles!
Nice :-)
Gorgeous classic Mopar!!
High praise :-)
318 CI and 255 HP, not bad for 1960. Thank you for showing yet another Randy Guyer car out of my beloved Minnesota. I'm probably an hour's drive from where you guys were located for this video. Lou, you've seen a lot of cars in your tour as a presenter. The dash is spectacular on this Dodge Phoenix!
Hi Jed, My pleasure sharing Randy's collection with you. The Dash is amazing :-) Good news! There are more cars from Randy's collection, so stay tuned, Lou
Magnificent! Another great find from Randy who's got a few. Thanks for your detailed, comprehensive video on this jewel, Lou. 👍

What a great looking car, the Dodge Phoenix is in great condition. lou, that model was in Australia, a beautiful car, that guy has a great collection, good stuff👍👍👍👍.
Hi Philip, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and condition of this car :-) Good to know this one was in Australia too. Good news! Randy has more cars we'll be sharing so stay tuned, Lou
As the owner stated, the Phoenix wasn't the bottom of the line, the Seneca was. My parents bought a 1960 Seneca coupe new and paid just over $2K. It had the standard 225 c.i. slant 6 and the only options were the TorqueFlite automatic and a padded dash and pushbutton radio. A few years later, they had an ARA airconditioning unit added. We didn't even have A/C in our house! It was a great car with the only problem I remember was that it would occasionally vaporlock when driving into the mountains. Other than that, it never had a problem keeping up in traffic. My parents replaced it with a new Plymouth Fury III hardtop 4 door with a Commando 383 with many options. It cost $4100. out the door. People were lined up to buy the old Dodge and my parents got $500. for it and were pleasantly surprised. Remember, in 1968, you could buy a running/driving car in good shape for $100.
The base 318 polyspherical V8 was a great engine and lasted through the 1967 model year.
Thank you!
Hi Automated Electronics, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Parents car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing your knowledge, and you're welcome, Lou
My 1st car was a 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix convertible, red (vermillion) with a white top and a red interior. I bought it in 1969 when I was 17. I paid $295 for it and it had 49K miles on it. It had the 318 CID 4bbl TorqueFlite. It needed a little rust repair. My dad used to own a body shop, so I had some help getting some rust repaired and I repainted it. I drove it until 1992 when the unibody had rusted so bad that it was unsafe to drive anymore - I drove it over 110K miles and had some good times.
The differences between this and mine:
1- No A/C
2- Red/black interior (door and 1/4 pads: red where the gray is on this one; black where the white is.)
3- Red/black front bench seat (red where the white is and red/black fabric seat upholstery) I replaced the front seat with red bucket seats out of 1967 Ford Galaxy XLT and built a center console for it.
4- It had upgraded O/S mirrors
5- It had the antenna on right-rear quarter panel
6- Black dashboard. This one appears to be dark gray. The hood over the speedometer reflected sunshine that blinded the driver so I painted it flat black. Also the radio knobs were different. (I learned later that some were assembled in Detroit and some in Newark, DE, and there were some minor differences.)
7- I added an anti-roll bar to the front, had dual exhaust custom made and Cherry Bomb mufflers.
8- It last had white letter BFG Radial TAs with Cragar S/S wheels on it when I had to finally quit driving it.
It had a 2.79:1 rear end. It was slow to get to 60 MPH, but would cruise all day at 70 MPH. Stopping was another story - I needed a looooot of clear space ahead!

I really enjoyed this video, Lou. What an interesting car! I enjoyed reading all of the information in the trunk, which was fascinating. The speedometer and clock were quite unique, weren't they? I love the upper dash A/C 'vents' as well. For a low-priced automobile (granted it was the top of the range) made this even more impressive! Thanks once again to you and your family for putting together this video, and thanks to Randy Guyer for sharing his wonderful car with us!
Hi Mike YQR, High praise :-) Yes, the interior is stellar in this car. My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome. Good news! We'll be sharing more from Randy's collection, so stay tuned, Lou
@@loucostabile That's great Lou! It looks like Randy has some great cars in his garage. Looking forward to seeing more! 👍
Great memories of my 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix convertible, mint green with a white top, except I had to special order a manual 3 speed transmission. ( I loved driving my cars in the "50s and '60's with a "stick shift" trans). I also had an extra option an RCA 45 rpm record player that was mounted under dash, which I played all of my favorite 45 rock n' roll records. I purchased it new in 1960 from Taylor Dodge in NW Detroit MI . Oh, the 318 VI engine held it's own against Chevy and Ford cruisin' Woodward Ave and Telegraph road in metro Detroit area and also at the numerous drive in's.

Lou, Great video. Beautiful car. Again another American work of art! Those guys must of had a ball with those blocks of clay in those days! Wow! Cracked me up what he said about chrome. I’ve always said when asked what my favorite color is? Chrome! 😜 I had a “61” Seneca. Three on the tree, 225 slant 6. Good job again as usual. Thanks jj

It's funny that you say your favorite color is chrome. For years I have said that I would get married again if a woman told me that her favorite color is chrome, because I figure we could get along very well!
@@randyguyer Hi Randy, you are blessed indeed! What a beautiful example of a “60” Dodge. I was I was 6 in 1961. My best friends mom had what I now know as a “60” Phoenix same color red as yours station wagon! Even then I couldn’t help just thinking it was so beautiful. God bless my friend. I hope you find a girl that loves chrome! Much cheaper than gold!!! 😝
I can't believe how different this looks from my 70 dart swinger 340 scat pack.

Hi Richard, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
My dad had a thrill show when I was a kid and they used the convertible for the beauty queen to ride on the bonnet and drive under the car doing the ramp to ramp and they timed so looking from the grandstand the car doing the ramp to ramp was high in the air in the middle of the jump and the convertible crossed under the car in the air at the same time, it really was a spectacular visual for the crowd in the grandstand!

Great vintage Dart, when Chrysler had it going on. Doesn't look like economy version until the back end. Amazing that an economy version got babied and restored. An everyman's car in 1960! The seats are swell. Well done as usual Lou! (Weird green dash, wonder if the color was switched along the way, hmmm)

Just a note for the owner and as a convertible owner myself, one can improve the longevity of the plastic window by making sure it doesn't crease too much as the top gets lowered. Sometimes that plastic gets damaged if one isn't careful. Otherwise, it's a stunning machine... lots of thoughtful design details.
