- in this video we swap out the track on our buddy D-Rons F1000! we've never done this before on a sled with Diamond drive so it's a learning curve for both of us lol. Hey now, those F-1000’s were awesome for their time. My brother had a 2007, and it was awesome to ride. Not many sleds were competing with it. It was the baddest sled around in my area. He has a crossfire 1000 now, which is my favourite sled of all time. It’s such a good looking sled. 😂
Really. I had one and its the Barney sled for looks. Plus the diamond drive was a piece of crap. Its the sled that made me switch to skidoo after being a die hard AC guy.
@@richardcollins7351 It’s definitely not the best looking sled out there, that’s for sure. But my brothers was solid. He never had to do anything to it outside of regular maintenance, and replaced an A arm after he smoked a rock he didn’t see. 😂

Cheers Pete another great video. My father in law has the 1100 4 stroke version of that ugly sled. At least it looks fairly simple to work on. Didn’t see any JR talls in this vid but I guess there is always next time.

Great video. My buddy is getting ready to change out his diamond drive. He changed his track and the track clips eat through his diamond drive lost all fluid. I guess you have to grind down the clips on one side of the track. Keep an eye on it
f7s and m7s look good. pain to work on tho. have to remove the pipe to do most things like pull plugs, recoils but still fun.
Love diamond drives. Makes it so much easier to swap tracks. I can do it in a little less than an hour on my 2011 Crossfire . What you did worked but I like leaving the caliper bolted in. Just take the big nut off the driveshaft and push the driveshaft towards the diamond drive side. Love your video's man!!

U can take the belt and clutch off at the same time without going threw the work of spreading the clutch and put it back on

Should of went one step further and loosened that skinny nut off on the calliper side. Pull the shaft out of the housing and had a look at the bearing. Would not have taken long. Having two Cats with Diamond Drives and as far as I’m concerned they worked great. Just the secondary clutch needed aftermarket things to make them work right.

My first sled was a 2008 LXR version of that same sled. Kind of a tank and she didn’t dangle with the 1” track. Was fast for its time and did a great job of vibrating your filling loose. Like to say it was a nice one but it was kind of a couch

My Crossfire 1000 runs out of gear at 123 mph. Diamond drives have zero downside if maintained.
Hey bud, get that secondary rebuilt asap. Theres a guy out east that does the hub mod in canada for Mel from Formula in the states.
Also Arnie at Arnies Cat house here in muskoka does a cool mylar sheeve rebuild that solves that issue too. Its nutso good after that.
I was watching your videos you we’re doing Christine‘s driveshaft. You mentioned how much it cost at Napa. I had an auto body shop for almost 40 years I stopped buying from Napa like 10 years ago they’re super rip offs all the business I gave them they never gave me a good break on any parts, I had a part I needed for a Chevy truck. They want $550 for it. I got it on Amazon for like $135 .

Ultimax belt makes a 1000cc 4 stroke go faster than a 1974 Puma 440 ,
That still has the flip up gas cap there's a recall to have the tank replaced because they cracked an leak just had my f6 done

You chose between torque or speed with a small difference

Stud spun out, thats normal when you use a rattle gun to loosen nuts and bolts instead of a wrench. Rattle guns are ok but they will always spin out a stud when you cant get or it's very hard to get anything on the back.
If you are not keeping the track to put on another machine, just cut it instead of fighting to get it off, save the fight to get the new one on
Artic Cat 1000 @ 72mph, not very good. Big heavy machine . My brothers 81 340 Enticer deluxe does 70 all week long.

it's just that brand if backer...they are terrible for cracking and breaking apart. just a poor design and the wrong grade of aluminum I think 🤔🍻

Oh man, I don't know about this sled, my single piped Yamaha MM 700 does 60 mph in 203 ft in 4,05 seconds. By 250 ft the speed is 63,34 mph and ET is 4,56. The MM is set for trail/powder use. Data aquired with racebox and the racebox app.

I'm using the "Dragy" it cost about $200 for the unit and it links to your phone. it is deadly accurate for all the race info like 0-60, 300 foot, 1/8th mile, quarter mile and will give you speeds and times! only downside is it doesn't show top speed...unless you set it for 1/2mile and giver a squeeze lol 🤣 🍻

Those twin spar chassis are not the prettiest. I had a 2009 Z1 Turbo that lost a secondary. After I found out they didn't make them anymore and there was 1 new one in the country for a small fortune, I decided to sell it after I found a used one to replace it. I think replacement parts will be their long-term Achilles heal. I heard you can't get anything new for the DD anymore.
