New Ring Roller! This is a video where I unbox the Ring Roller! Today is Day 167 of the Metal Relic video challenge! The script is mine, the voice is AI's.
There is a drum project I'm working on that needs a metal ring made. I wanted it to be as close to perfect as possible.
What we have here is the Central Machinery Metal Planetary Ring Roller from Harbor Freight. It happens to be item number 36790 at about 70 bucks .
There is a very ominous message in the printed manual. It says read it before you use it or it can result in serious injury. Well I read enough, ironically the Manual online has a different message.
I know it's easy for people to say just build one, but often times there is a bit more to it. This metal stuff and toolery is pretty new to me and I'm figuring it out as I go. In turn,
you get to go along for the ride and maybe learn something too.
So when it's free from the box, you can see that everything is assembled for you, except for the crank which only requires a hammer to pound in the pin.
I ended up mounting it to the bench temporarily until I find it a good home and sanding down the gnarled rollers because they had too much bite. Since this is a custom order, I want it to be as close to an original as possible.
The box says that I can make chandeliers, plant holders, ornamental iron work and more now, so let's do it.
