Yes, and TY. Let us also remember that Beren and Luthien was really the heart of Tolkien's legendarium, and everything else either leads up to it, or flows from it. This is the love story, along with Tuor's and Idril's, that basically saves the universe, and in Tolkien's fashion, it saves it past, present, and future.
Take note: she was feminine, but not weak for it. Her femininity was, in fact, the source of her strength. So many authors and politicians don't get it. But Tolkien... He got it.
@Bolaji Windapo She wasn't a badass amazon that could be replaced by a man. Her role in the story was destinct from a male archtype- feminine. Many feminists pay lip service to the idea of men and women being equal, but insist in women takeing a masculine role. Acting like men. Like feminists secretly belive men are superior. Even as they tear down men for being masculine. Tolkien's depiction shows that a woman can be a strong character without that. That women are strong for being women, just as he shows men are strong for being men.
Tolkien did also dabble in stories with "amazon" women though. Such as Haleth who took up the mantle of chieftain after her father and brother were slain by orcs. She led her people in exile and repelled orc raids and kept a bodyguard of women till the end of her life. Now it bears mentioning that this wasn't originally a culture of warrior women, but refugees picking up spear and bow after many of the adult men had been wiped out in battle, but the point still stands that Tolkien wasn't adverse to women with masculine traits. If anything, what stands out is that Tolkien never imposed an ideal of what women should be.

I think there's something to that, because I don't care for most romantic stories either. I think the reason Beren and Luthien resonates with people is much of it is based on Tolkien's relationship with his wife. His description of Luthien, her dancing in the woods, her having a beautiful singing voice, all of that is based on various incidents with his wife. So even if it isn't a true story, it still rings true.
