Ok, Robert I just opened my box from Shein. I must say, they took your advice. My palate was packed inside of styrofoam. It was inside of a box filled with soft items, but it looks like if it were an order of just makeup, the styrofoam is standard. Well, the foundation is amazing. I am shocked at the color match, and the formula. I have purchased the lippies and eye pencils before, but never went into any real makeup. Your video had me interested in going for more. When you continued to say "I'm confused", I now understand why. I have purchased the same item from other brands and spent a lot more. I am impressed. Thanks for the review.
I see a lot of folk here talking about the ethical values and while that is important and always will be, please try to remember this video for a review on shein was mostly ASKED by fans. Robert just kindly obliged for fans who were asking 🤷🏻 because covid has hit wallets hard ♥ so don't fight in comments guys

I have two eyeshadow palettes, & I will say that I think they definitely need a good primer under them, but was very pleasantly surprised. We’re obviously different skin tones, but I think with the right primer they’d be good. And the 9 pan palettes are only $6, so it’s not a huge commitment.
I am always worried that because they are cheap they will have really bad chemicals in them that are bad for your face. I saw a program were they tested knock off make up and some had asbestos etc in them so that’s what I’d be most worried about

This reminds me of the makeup from Dollar General in the US. The foundation is only $5 and comes in a beautiful glass bottle with a pump. The formula is absolutely amazing, and I use it as a mixing foundation to correct the color of some of my high end products. Laura Lee loves the Sheglam mascara!
Omg I love how you talk about the fact that you should still get decent packaging and service even with affordable brands. I’m sure you can afford the best Robert, and you get a lot of products sent to u by companies but you still care about those of us who can’t afford the expensive things. I thank you so much for that. You are wonderful and I love yoooooo! ❤️
Thank you so much talking about cheaper products and still having some expectations. I lived my life just trying to not be seen and at 48 I just started getting into makeup and went stupid and ordered close to $700 in products. In my spending I ordered some drug store products. One being an eyeshadow palette that arrived in an envelope. No padding. Each shadow smashed to oblivion. In my excitement I sat down on my bed and opened the envelope and was immediately covered in eyeshadow dust. All over my quilt and my dress clothes. All I could think was this was karma's way of telling me I had bought enough products. Side note...I was so happy to actually get a notification that you posted a new video! You and your brother have helped me so much!!!
I can’t get over how much I love your aesthetic and humor. I rarely find people who see humor in scary things. Your decor is also so perfect. It’s so authentic and not contrived. I guess that’s the same thing. it’s just very tasteful and comforting. I love casual spooky decor

I could just watch Robert check packaging and sniff products for at least a half an hour. It makes me giggle so much! It's so cute! That foundation does look flawless though! 😍 and overall everything looks really good. ❤
I agree about shipping in the bag! Also, I was looking on their site and saw in checkout that it says you can add $0.99 shipping insurance or something it was called. I looked to see what that was, and it says if something is lost in shipment or broken and you pay that $0.99, then they’ll replace it. Shipping it like that they should replace it whether someone pays the $0.99 or not I think
I got mascara from that brand and I’m pretty sure it was the reason for the styes I got... Also with their manufacturing, if I had known about the lack of labor pay and regulations, I would have never gotten makeup from there. The package sent to me was really dirty and had a hole too!!

@@hanimay6843 hey maybe you wanna try their sister brand catrice. Their newest foundation true skin is quite awesome and also their skincare and actually pretty much everything by this brand at that price point is very good
Honestly, now that this video is older and Sheglam has their own site now. I took a dive and bought a few items from them, and it seems they have improved their quality. The eyeshadow goes on smooth, super pigmented, the shimmers are more shimmery and less large glitter particles(I got the cosmic collection and it has this purple dual chrome and it's gorgeous) Their grip primer has become my favorite primer next to the nyx one. The eyeliner is super creamy and long lasting on my waterline. And the packaging all came in Styrofoam over the boxes, in the actual like box it came in, so they definitely improved the safety of their delivery system
I was also pleasantly surprised with my recent Shein eyeshadow Palette. Thank you for sharing!!! I feel better about trying more of the sheglam products! I too, was dismayed when my order arrived in a plastic bag. It made me regret my purchase until I wore the pallete.
Ummm, so I know I'm not the only one who thought the purple palette looked like an exact Colourpop dupe.... Am I right? lmao Foil around the pan and everything lol

The thing about the price is that because the manufacturers and labs are in China (Home country of Shein) it costs them way less than western brands producing making makeup with the same labs and manufacturers so these palettes would be 10 to 12 dollars in the US instead of 5 dollars. People often forget that China still produces many makeup for other brands. They have the knowledge and the ressources but I would say be aware of the ingredients. BUT please reconsider buying from shein because they are very unethical..

That “compacting” of The pigment occures especially in finely milled pigment, when oil gets into contact with it. It can especially happen if you use artificial bristled brushes as they cannot absorb oils/moisture. It can completely ruin a product.

Haha I thought Robert was gonna shove that contour stick up his nose when he was smelling it 🤣 and it reminded me of when my daughter shoved a crayon up her nose 🤭
When my daughter was 5 she stuck a small piece of crayon up her nose. Took her to ER and they said it would come out by itself. Few days later we are grocery shopping and she sneezes. Out came the small piece lol!
@@kkimm29 omg too funny! Kids are hilarious! One day when mine was probably 3, I was taking groceries in the house, walked inside after literally 1 minute and couldn't find her. Had a heart attack! I loved your comments in the beginning about the packaging being “disrespectful”. That is SUCH a good way to describe it! We all understand that this is a budget friendly brand. No one is expecting a luxury experience. However, this is coming all the way from overseas, and very simple protective elements like paper shreds (or even packing peanuts) can make a huge difference without adding much extra cost. The brand can be cost effective without being CHEAP. Tossing it all in a poly mailer without any protective filler is not “affordable”, it’s “cheap” and not a cute look.

I just received my order from Sheglam yesterday and i used the foundation today and i like it very much! I also have 6 eye shadow pallets and the diamond sponge is really nice to use.
I saw a couple pullover sweaters I liked on Shein when my granddaughter was ordering from them. I honestly couldn't believe the quality of the sweaters I received. I was completely surprised. Seeing you try their makeup lines, I'll give them a go. Thank you Robert.
Their men's clothing is barely existent, but I gotta say, I've been pleased with the clothing I've gotten. You have to check the reviews and watch what the fabric is, sure, but for the price point, their diversity of styles and available stuff especially for plus size is pretty fabulous. Now I think I may have to get one of those eye shadow palettes!
I haven't purchased a lot of make up products from SheGlam, but they have one of the few contour shades that looks just right on super pale skin that is actually a grey brown shade and I absolutely adore that item. It's their Sun Sculpt Liquid Contour in the shade "Soft Tan."
I tried a blush, an highlighter and some glitters from this brand and I was really surprised in a good way too ! I think I'll do other orders to try their fondation and concealer ! Thank you for your review robert ! ^-^
I have quite a few sheglam products, and they are all very nice. The lipsticks in the black packaging have a magnetic closure, and I love the liquid blushes.
This was a great video! Actually my daughter has ordered clothes from Shein a few times and they are great so far. After watching this video I’m excited to try the make up, thank you so much for reviewing it💕💕
Would like an updated video with their new products that are contour, bronze and blushers. I see. Good reviews but Shein is not a good company (to workers or quality) so I'm curious what you would think. They are so affordable and their contour color is actually gray which is hard to find, especially at that price point.

I totally agree with your commentary on the packaging and disregard for how it arrives with the customer. BH and ELF are affordable brands, and arrive properly packaged. It can clearly be done.
I think the plastic wrap it's because China has a lot of issues with second handed products that are sell abroad, so they just want to make sure you know you are receiving a brand new product, at least that's what I think, 🤷♀️

@@allique__ so if we cannot afford expensive makeup than we cannot buy any? In some counties even drugstore brands are expensive. Sorry but that's total bullshit.
I really like reviews like this where it outperforms expectations because I know it's genuine.
Robert's reaction to the eyeshadow pallets is the same when you pass an exam you never studied for
Lol that feeling
😆 LOL
Robert: “Is this look absolutely terrible?”
Me: N-
Robert: “Yes.”
I'm confused because I LOVE the look!
I like it to, but cameras I swear filter or not make things look good. 😂😭 Especially Robert because he’s amazing
I really did like the look too. 🤣🤣🤣
Shein is a chinese company, very doubtful they care at all.
I laughed so hard when he said yes 🤣🤣🤣
I see a lot of folk here talking about the ethical values and while that is important and always will be, please try to remember this video for a review on shein was mostly ASKED by fans. Robert just kindly obliged for fans who were asking 🤷🏻 because covid has hit wallets hard ♥ so don't fight in comments guys
I love a MUA who truly cares about those of us who need to shop on a budget too. ❤
Robert: “is it pronounced sheen or sheen? it’s sheen right?” 😂😂
I say She-In
it used to be called sheinside way back when I was still in high school, so I'd say She-In
😂😂
I say “shee-an” and I know some of the SHIEN girls say it that way too
in Germany it's Shain...lol
Is it just me or, is that snowflake glitter definitely not eye safe?? That was CHUNKY.
Ironically that kind of eyeshadow glitter is usually marked as not safe for the eyes. 😬
I have a palette from them and it literally says on the box that it's not to be used on/near the eyes... lmfao
i wish every brand would just stop putting pressed glitters in their eyeshadow palettes
@@MxSlurpy but to be fair, other products list that as well from more reputable brands. they have those exclamations on any pressed glitter shadows
@@Elena-bk4fs Exactly, even pressed pigments such as vibrant reds and yellows are marked as not safe for eye area, people just don't read their makeup labels
I love that Robert can make any make up work, whether the products are good or bad he knows how to work it 💜🖤
A true professional 👏
an artist could make art with crayola
Yeah fr! Like he’ll be like “oh this product is really bad it doesn’t do the thing” and still make a look better than my best work with good products😂
Robert you are one of the most respectful makeup artists on here! A true professional who teaches us great things, AND has a heart of gold, or in your case, purple! 💜💜 Thanks for being you!
Robert would you stock your professional mkup kit with this product esp foundations and conceals ?
I'm always afraid of brands like these, the eyeshadow won't show up on my skin tone and forget about a shade match in the foundation
I have two eyeshadow palettes, & I will say that I think they definitely need a good primer under them, but was very pleasantly surprised. We’re obviously different skin tones, but I think with the right primer they’d be good. And the 9 pan palettes are only $6, so it’s not a huge commitment.
Not to mention the fact that Shein uses legit slave labor.
I am always worried that because they are cheap they will have really bad chemicals in them that are bad for your face. I saw a program were they tested knock off make up and some had asbestos etc in them so that’s what I’d be most worried about
@@anna_bandana I agree, I wish they had the ingredients posted
@@meghanmarie5067 They actually do post their ingredients, and foundation and eye-wise it's pretty safe for my very sensitive skin according to CosDNA.
Believe brand. It doesn't suck. & yeah, the foundation bottles are quite nice as well. Who'da thunk?
Yes Believe Beauty is amazing!!
Will you please do a video reviewing Essence makeup? They have amazing mascara, blush, eyeliner and eyeshadows!
Thank you for always standing up for the consumer🖤 It is so true, everyone's budget and idea of affordable is different and all items, no matter the cost should be shipped with care🖤🖤
Yea, their customer service is awful too
@@AshleeyEm what’s your experience with customer service?
I got mascara from that brand and I’m pretty sure it was the reason for the styes I got... Also with their manufacturing, if I had known about the lack of labor pay and regulations, I would have never gotten makeup from there. The package sent to me was really dirty and had a hole too!!
I was adulting Robert. You made me drop everything to watch!💜
I've ordered makeup and jewellery from them twice, and was always wrapped very nicely and secure ,so I'm surprised you recieved your order like this 🤔. I bought a full face of Makeup from them, and I was shocked with the quality 🤯.
Damn same here but I bought eyeshadows
I could barely even get into the packaging! It was wrapped in bubble wrap, had foam on the eyeshadow palettes, and tape holding it together.
Girl me too. I love the luxury look they have. The shape of all the pallets are different and beautiful. No more ELF, Revlon, and Loreal 😂
Happy Sunday Robert! A man after my own heart. . . Presentation and packaging is everything! 💖🖤💖🖤💖🖤
Once I tried Sheglam I was hooked. Now I use all of their products and am very satisfied
Surprised Robert didn’t do a purple look with that gorgeous purple pallet.
When he was blending the concealer and carving the outter edge and made the whistle sound it reminded me of Bob Ross "If you don't make the noises, it won't work 😉" 😂🥰
I am so glad you did this!! Of all the reviews on youtube you are the most brutally honest in my opinion and I LOVE that. I've had sheglam in my cart forever now and I feel confident enough now, thanks to you, to go thru with the actual purchase! Thank you!!!
Robert, please consider doing another updated video on Sheglam with more products. I would love to see what your thoughts are on the liquid sculpting contour and bronzers and the liquid blush! I have repurchased both of those items a ridiculous amount of times because they're so good! They also have a bunch of new things on there that I think you would love. I don't know, I just think it would be great to hear your thoughts! Just an idea 😊
Yep. .❤ Nikkia Joy has a few videos on those.
Thank you so much for reviewing more affordable makeup for those of us who can’t spend money on brands. I really appreciate your opinion Robert.
the cloud 9 palette looks exactly like colourpop’s in a trance palette
To a T. Personally I got poor color payoff with the colorpop one and was pretty dissapointed. The glitter in his pallet looked way better
‘Essence’ brand is crazy cheap and eerily good!
Right?? I've only tried their lip products but phew...I love the brand
My absolute favorite! Almost all my makeup is from Essence. Sadly they stopped making my favorite foundation and none of their other foundations work for me. I've tried so many other brands, but no foundations come anywhere near the Essence one 😭
@@hanimay6843 what foundation were you using?
RIGHT! I love their liquid lipsticks, eyebrow pencils, blush, powders , gloss but the eyeshadows suck
@@hanimay6843 hey maybe you wanna try their sister brand catrice. Their newest foundation true skin is quite awesome and also their skincare and actually pretty much everything by this brand at that price point is very good
I’m glad I’m not the only one who smells everything before I use it.
Honestly, now that this video is older and Sheglam has their own site now. I took a dive and bought a few items from them, and it seems they have improved their quality. The eyeshadow goes on smooth, super pigmented, the shimmers are more shimmery and less large glitter particles(I got the cosmic collection and it has this purple dual chrome and it's gorgeous)
Their grip primer has become my favorite primer next to the nyx one.
I appreciate how you value other peoples concept of what expensive is.
Ummm, so I know I'm not the only one who thought the purple palette looked like an exact Colourpop dupe.... Am I right? lmao Foil around the pan and everything lol
All of the palettes made me think of Colourpop...and I’d rather pay their prices tbh!
For real! Especially the tie dye one! I was like wait hold on a second?! 🥴
colourpop only did the foil around the pan for like 3 of their palettes but otherwise yeah
Yup!
yes the cloud nine palette was an EXACT copy of colourpop’s in a trance palette 😬
100% agree with you on the packaging. Great point that packaging can indicate a level of respect. People are spending their money on these products, so no matter what the cost, the company should be respectful of their customers! Thanks for pointing that out!
“Oh no it smells like roses why would you do that” 🤣 I freaking love this man lol
You know what, I've been begging different youtubers for a peacock eye look forever and you do it without me even asking! Love it (and you) thank you! 😊💚💙💜
Your videos are my ultimate hangover cure. Also I used tips and tricks learned from your tutorials, yesterday and was complimented twice by different people. Thanks for making me better at make up and boosting my confidence and self esteem 😘
Not only that but this also means their makeup is tested on animals!
@@chickpea Wasn't the animal testing requirement only for foreign made brands that wanted to be sold in China? And even that got scrapped this year.
Not saying Shein is a good company to buy from, but it is possible they don't actually test on animals (have no idea of their actual status given how horrible they are otherwise).
@@Silverwolfpriestess I thought everything that was sold in China had to undergo testing? I’m not sure anymore, good question!
@@chickpea Starting May 1st 2021 China stopped requiring animal testing on most cosmetics (with the exception of hair dyes, hair perming products, anti-hair loss products, and sunscreens).
@@Silverwolfpriestess Oh that’s very good news, and really really recent too! Thanks for the information!

Same. ❤️
That 90s mom makeup smell to me is the Covergirl compact powder smell. I used it when I was 13 and thought I was SO fancy. ✨
You're one of the first to review Shein make-up!!
The balm foundation and powder foundation is so good to. And there liquid blushes and bronzer or contour
That “compacting” of The pigment occures especially in finely milled pigment, when oil gets into contact with it. It can especially happen if you use artificial bristled brushes as they cannot absorb oils/moisture. It can completely ruin a product.
I absolutely love your videos! Your true emotion at how surprised you are, is one of the reasons why I take your opinion to the bank! Anything you review, I truly listen to your opinions. Thank you so much for the amazing content 💜
I love the panic and guilt on your face when you realised about the foundation 😂😂 so happy you did this video!
Robert sat there like " I am confusion" for 23 minutes 😂 I'm here for it love how honest this review was ❤️
Omg I had the same reaction! I have issues with fast fashion like SHEIN and exploitation etc but I gamble on their clothing a lot bc I’m a bigger girl and it gets expensive to find clothes for myself, so I was trying to get free shipping and bought some eye shadow and I was IMPRESSED!! I don’t really like their glittery shadows bc I find that they are weird textures and like doesn’t look right on my eye lid but regular matte ones were great I found.
I don't even wear much makeup, I've only seen one other of your vids, and less than 3 minutes into this one I'm a subscriber. I love what you had to say there in the beginning.
Then, I hear a tiny "hehehehe" and I look, she was on top of the fridge "hiding." She climbed like 10 feet that little! It was scary but hilarious 🤣
You just reminded me of the time my brother shoved a Berry so far up his nose the gp had to extract it 🤣
@@daviesdavies538 🤣💘
I loved your comments in the beginning about the packaging being “disrespectful”. That is SUCH a good way to describe it!
We all understand that this is a budget friendly brand. No one is expecting a luxury experience. However, this is coming all the way from overseas, and very simple protective elements like paper shreds (or even packing peanuts) can make a huge difference without adding much extra cost. The brand can be cost effective without being CHEAP. Tossing it all in a poly mailer without any protective filler is not “affordable”, it’s “cheap” and not a cute look.
was feeling bummed and then i saw im early to a robert welsh video! YAY!
you’re definitely the makeup channel i trust the absolute most with makeup reviews. i love how transparent you are! you rock the youtube game better than anyone else 🖤🖤
I've been using their concealer for a while and feel like it's a good dupe for the morphe fluidity concealer. I quite like shein across their departments but you "have" to check the reviews as they can be hit or miss. I am gonna get the foundation now.
I was going to write almost the same thing - it is quite important to check the reviews before ordering, I can't count how many times I gave up buying something there because the reviews.
Does it dry down or can it stay blendable?
@@Monicalala you do have to move fairly quickly to blend but just doing one eye at a time if more than enough time.
the ready set primer is one that I've used for a while now and I enjoy it
Please research the working practices there, it’s very exploitative unfortunately xxxx
I just received my order from Sheglam yesterday and i used the foundation today and i like it very much!
I also have 6 eye shadow pallets and the diamond sponge is really nice to use.
Hi Robert! I just moved to the UK from Australia and I'm currently in hotel quarantine. So glad you uploaded, it will help pass the time 😊
Ah welcome to the UK, friend! I've always wanted to visit Australia. Hope quarantine doesn't drive you too crazy!
The shein faux mink lashes are absolutely stunningggg I use them on clients and they rave about the quality of them
Never thought I'd be so entertained by a fully grown adult sniffing every single product 😂 thanks Robert, you really cheer up my days
I saw a couple pullover sweaters I liked on Shein when my granddaughter was ordering from them.
I honestly couldn't believe the quality of the sweaters I received. I was completely surprised. Seeing you try their makeup lines, I'll give them a go.
Thank you Robert.
I'm interested to know how well this look (specifically that eyeshadow) held throughout the day.
Im obsessed with your mirror!!!!! It looks extremely beautiful
Love you Robert! ❤️ I absolutely love the honest feedback, you never have an opinion formed when you review something and I love it!!
Omg that intro with the 🌙 !! Sooo cute 🤩
You and Rawbeautykristi are my favorites... I need you two to collab on a video. lol

Dear Robert, I just got in to your UA-cam makeup critiques, I love seeing how to update my look. Your tips are so nice. Lovely, you are so sweet and enthusiastic about the joy of makeup, even I am excited to see you discover new palates and brands. Thank you.

Hi there:) may I recommend the following palettes for cool toned (I am too!) they get more expensive as they go along.
- makeup revolution forever flawless palette.
- colourpop Baroque palette also Stone Cold Fox by them.

- Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette
- Natasha Denona Glam palette.
- Scott Barnes - Glamazon palette.

This is the only thing I can afford and it makes me feel so bad when I order from SHEIN because everyone always says how terrible they are, but I can’t afford anything else :/ you look amazing btw
if that's what you can afford, don't let others make you feel bad about it. when you can afford to get something more ethical, then go ahead and get that. honestly, moral high ground is something that only those with privilege can figuratively and literally be worrying about, since they don't have to worry about their next paycheck.
Don't feel bad, everyone falls short on ethics when it comes to consumerism. Only feel guilty about what you can control.
Don’t feel bad, you can only afford what you can afford. Unfortunately, there’s just no ethical consumption under capitalism unless one was to homestead somewhere and get/make stuff from scratch with the materials around them and obviously that’s not for most people lol. I personally try to mitigate that by thrifting when I can (plus that costs less than buying new, and I’ve even found some shein stuff on thread up) ofc it’s not possible to thrift makeup unless it’s unopened but I do what I can
Me too
If it’s not the best try elf and some drugstore a lot of them are in the same price range for good quality so you wouldn’t have to settle
That highlighter packaging looks just like Tower28 blush balms! My 19yo daughter buys clothes at Shein for so cheap and I’ve gotten a purse there and was shocked at how nice they seem. My husband refers to this as “quick fashion” - it’s cheap stuff you get just for the season then you don’t have to be bothered with it - you can donate when you’re through or not stress about getting it dirty or oops I ripped it - it was cheap - Live in it! I’ve been buying a lot of stuff for my 6yo at Burlington - same concept. She look in fashion yet I’m not stressed about her messing up expensive clothes. Anyway - thx for this review. What a great way for folks to economize and with affordable yet not crappy products - especially younger adults just starting out in life. I’m def giving my 19yo a heads up on Sheins makeup line now as I trust your recommendations 💯
Honestly, the SheIn brow pencil is just wonderful. Glides so well... I always buy a bunch
Totally agree on packaging seeing as we're paying for it! I was clapping my hands with glee as you opened the foundation as I knew you'd like it .
I'm not boujee at all, listen, I love a good deal, but for some reason this whole brand just gives me the heebie jeebies. I can't
