I feel like there should be the first check point should be at a point on the shore then a run to the high way. With that added, the lighthouse should be removed. Perhaps someone will come up with a parachute run from quarry to island.
My first ever Gfred. Well, technically Derfg. And what better way to start than to *die twice up Chilliad* Context: I got an Exemplar on the Observatory and got up to 5th @ Chilliad when I hit a bump awkwardly that sent me to the opposite side of the descent and I blew up. Then the second time was when I couldn't make the airport jump in a Dominator. DNF'd, clearly
@@PeterJavi no, after you go through the full pool of 630 vehicles, it will add those vehicles back and generate another list. Only after going through every car in the pool will you get repeats. The random race car list is generated without replacement, so once you get something, you won't get it until you go through every other car in the pool.
@@PeterJavi Luckily we had learnt from our mistakes from last year and made sure people restarted their clients at least once during the whole race. Server held up fine, the lag might've gotten a little worse and lap records stopped recording when people restarted but it was okay! :D
Well, my first derfG was a long string of disappointments. After getting completely smashed by nomad (who I gave permission to keep racing instead of waiting for me to get back to the highway), I couldn't find a good enough vehicle to take on Chiliad. Managed to get to the Observatory, then tried to take on the river jump for Chiliad and failed, not once, but twice. My final car was a f'n BeeJay. Never made it up Chiliad. I would've prefered a DeathFred to have saved me the misery. The positive to this for me, there was Marbles after this disaster piece.
37s separating the Top 5. What could have been? I'm not sure the Baller was the right choice - how wet was it? Surely there was something in the Observatory car park that could have made it up Chilliad which would have been capable of making it to the end faster.
The Bullet is underrated for you because of the Infernus. If it wasn't for that you'd be in a Bullet instead of a Baller and wouldn't get stuck So the Infernus made you lose this one.
I wonder whether taking the OG route DOWN onto the motorway would be quicker to the airport, or to go down to end up at the small airport. It 'looks' like it would be less of a pain than circling back along the railway track through everyone going the other way.
GFRED SUMMARY SERIES Gfred #167: DerfG - Bad Driving, Bad Stealing . . . . SPOILER ALERT The name of this race came from two habits that has return after a long absence. Alternatively, “The Bad Driving Returns” is also an alternative. Then it turns out that this day is a time for Variant, and he’s considering DeathFred just because everyone hates it. He eventually decided to check what Variant is available, and he decided on DerfG for how long he didn’t do it, since the PlaylistFred specifically. Oriel answered his own question of “What does derfG entail? other than being Gfred backwards” But as soon as he starts the lobby, he immediately back out to get the Parachute and Scuba Suit. Then he reminds everyone about Zero Tolerance after the abuse from Nomad and his Furia. He then decided to take an NPC 9F for the Ammunation. He warns people to not messing around and waste time since he immediately starts the lobby again once he got the parachute. He lampshades that he got the 9F a bit early though. But then someone pushed that 8F inside and caused the gun store to be closed just when he’s about to buy the parachute. He then had enough and retreat to his office, and get the parachute from the rooftop. But then Big Sarge pointed out “Why do you need a parachute in Derfg?”, Broughy still take it just in case he forgot something later though. Hammer then said “Now's the time to say: "Remember the checkpoint at the dock before the finish"”, giving Broughy some flashback to the first DerfG. He reminds people that in addition to the usual rules, do not use Atomizer to unstuck your car. And he says that this will test everyone’s memories if they can think of Gfred backwards. Father Jarody asked “How am I supposed to skip the run if the rules are reversed?” and Broughy answered with a horrible joke “In DerfG, Run Skips You” The race is started with an uncertainly of skipping the run for how short it is compared to Gfred, since it’s more swim than run this time, and the bike is even fewer as well. He tried to check the standings which caused him to resurfaced. And as people said it, it’s more Swimskippers than Runskippers now. RCD Subscribed “Look Ma, I made it onto youtube!!!!”, but Broughy points out that no one will see it because of Swimskippers. Unfortunately, he surfaced too early and on a shallow part of the water which delays him to be out of the water. It’s not a bad start though. He then mentions how Playlist happen because he can’t do DerfGfred on Xbox. Broughy saw a Baller pass away and he eventually had to take a lone Granger, but he saw there’s a parked Baller on the National Park as well as passing a Dominator as well. Still, he decided to just get something and get away. Strangely, people take a different swim route to the south of the bridge as well, which Broughy thinks as those who didn’t do derfG yet. It’s not too bad of an idea though. He said that one person made that route work once, but I think it’s only if there’s few people go there. Meanwhile, Broughy got his baller in front of Hookies, and he takes it because Chiliad happens earlier than Gfred, and he aims for a sports car after he came to Senora Road. Skelly said “Why isn’t he speaking backwards” which reminds Broughy at the first DerfG where everyone chatted, donated, and even Commenting at UA-cam in reverse. Even Broughy’s own description on the Video is also backwards. Internape said “I lack the IQ to type and read backwards” But to be fair, it’s easy to do that with a text tool online and most people do that easily, and he admits he did it too. He almost mistook a Bullet for an Infernus on Vinewood Hills Drive, and he wish he had an Infernus like last week. He remembers that it’s easier to follow the road on DerfG instead of climbing to the Observatory. He starts to feel that his driving is bad when he gone wide on the Observatory thinking that there’s no wall on the west of it, as well as the right line for the loop on the Checkpoint. He saw Mastah’s Bullet catching up, but Mastah swerved to the wrong direction on the Downhill. However, Mastah catches up again on Joshua Road but Broughy thinks that Bullet is weaker up Chiliad. And the problem is, there’s no OG Route without compromising a lot of time going around the Alamo Sea. This is especially bad on cars that can’t climb Chiliad AND it’s raining. Then Broughy gets another flashback from Fluffy and his beautiful sound from Carbonizarre. However, it’s actually Major Copyright’s Baller that blocks Broughy’s path of climbing by getting himself stuck between trees, ruining his momentum. Broughy doesn’t envy Fluffy though. Then Fluffy and Mastah overtakes him right before Fluffy’s Curse start to make him stalled. Carbonizarre made you think it’s gonna be fine for so long before it gives up right at the end… when Mopar is practically blocking him and stall his climb as well, and he got too greedy on the summit too. Thankfully, it’s not too severe. He’s definitely not driving well today. It’s all about Momentum on Chiliad and he blames Copyright for being stuck. However, he gone off the Descent too early because of the traffic ahead, then he lost control completely. Hitting a tree and starts spinning, and finally insert himself and stuck between a rock and a hard place, which in this case, is a tree. He’s in a Baller and he messes it up. Worse, Fluffy in his Carbonizarre crashed into him, but it does nothing to unstuck him. And because he’s locked forward and backwards, he has to give up the Baller and respawn. He also heard an explosion, but it’s Radioactive, not Fluffy. He doesn’t believe the first time he got stuck at Chiliad Descent in a LONG time, and also been a long time since he drives badly and not just on some particular moments. Overall, this has been a bad Gfred. Worse, he also fell off the bike after hitting a Cable Car Tower, but he survived and his bike is right besides him. This is his first Chiliad Meltdown in a long time. He’s lucky that there’s a tunnel that allows him to bypass the crossing train too. However, he goes to the Highway instead of the Sawmill. And after getting a Stratum since nothing is on the carpark, he goes back to the Train Track instead of continue on GOH. And the NPC driver’s quote is spot on “Is this a flashback?” And he lamented that he had a fight before the top position before he messed up and so far back, he’s still 15th though. Still plenty of time yet and he believe that he will be on Top Ten. And the leaderboard only shows the time of people who are in front of him at the Chiliad Checkpoint. Applikon said “it's nice to have beliefs” Then Broughy clipped on one of the small bridges and he flips out. Broughy is also so dejected that he made no attempt to sugarcoat his bad driving, to the point of considering a break from GTA. He snapped at Watz’s Schwartzer beeping a horn behind him. He’s so done. Now he REALLY hopes to find a sports car on Senora Road, as well as people dying on the Airport. He’s disappointed to see only SUVs everywhere. He almost stopped for a Tornado. He eventually managed to steal an Exemplar from English Racoon who is about to get away. He actually didn’t expect it to work for almost being too late. But then after he hit the wrong side of the barrier and force to skid around it, he stole a Bullet on the Highway not long after. Which means he took that Exemplar for no reason, what a scum, but he’s pretty happy for what he has done. One of the better cars stealing he has done, something he didn’t expect to go well. But now he realizes that he has to be careful on the Karma at the Airport. However, he’s so far back that he doesn’t think Top 10 is possible now for how much the gap is. He does the Airport Jump smoothly and also overtakes Watz’s Schwartzer on the dismount. He’s now 11th. He’s amazed with how different a mindset can make. That car-steal completely changed his outlook on the race after that Complete Chiliad Disaster, and the Airport went as smooth as it can be. But he’s 53 seconds behind Blue Volta at 10th. Meanwhile, Fluffy Pup is 3rd with that Carbonizarre, showing Broughy that Carbonizarre can do it… unless if Fluffy switched cars. He saw Surano and said how good it is, but there’s no point to take it especially from a Bullet. Hammer said “It's derfG Broughy1322 Everything's reversed... Carbo = Good” However, it seems that people are a lot closer than it seems on the Quarry, definitely not 53 seconds. Broughy seemingly raged when he saw Quinchy at a bike, but… it’s actually a bicycle, not a motorcycle. Then he clarifies that it’s his chance to get a Top Ten, people got confused though. Just as he exits the Quarry, he saw Quinchy getting into a car and go chasing him. Mastah won and never look back from his Bullet. Broughy decided to just dive into the water. He got the checkpoint, but he also respawned. Then he unintentionally put the bike on the water which caused him to respawn again. He HAD to try it though, and at least he didn’t lose any position, and get the checkpoint or else he would respawn at the Quarry instead. Not that it matters since the rest of the race is already pretty bad. And Broughy got Top Ten in the end, though apart from the Steal and the Airport Jump, this race is pretty bad for him. That did not go well, but it could be worse. Never Give Up, Gfred Spirit.
Meanwhile, Mopar finished 3rd followed by Copyright at 4th and Fluffy at 5th. Still, he feels that this race is a reversed karma. He also saw 0.2 Seconds gap between C0N and Quinchy at 11th and 12th. Watz followed them at 13th. Twelve Seconds between the Top Two, and English Racoon at 15th. Speedracer said “You'll go down in history as the man who managed to get a baller stuck on chiliad” And there will be a chance of redemption on the next standard Gfred. Mastah said “oh, there was more than 12 seconds, I didn't even use airport jump and was messing around on the island”
It bothers me that Broughy doesn't use the burnout mechanic to pivot his way of getting stuck. It's been a while since I played GTA, but iirc you can spin in place with disregard to your surroundings by holding the gas and brake at the same time. With some determination you can pop a wheel or two on top of rocks other small debris.
Alright how long has Broughy been playing this game? And he STILL doesn't know that if you do a burnout (brake and gas together) you can make a car rotate when it's stuck

And this is how you can tell Broughy didn't play the base game much. =) Anybody who's played the story mode and explored long after without mods will know the brake trick when you're stuck, or the throttle trick to get the car to shift gears going uphill. Sorry dude, but there's the truth!

That car-steal completely changed his outlook on the race after that Complete Chiliad Disaster, and the Airport went as smooth as it can be. But he’s 53 seconds behind Blue Volta at 10th. Meanwhile, Fluffy Pup is 3rd with that Carbonizarre, showing Broughy that Carbonizarre can do it… unless if Fluffy switched cars. He saw Surano and said how good it is, but there’s no point to take it especially from a Bullet. Hammer said “It's derfG Broughy1322 Everything's reversed... Carbo = Good” However, it seems that people are a lot closer than it seems on the Quarry, definitely not 53 seconds. Broughy seemingly raged when he saw Quinchy at a bike, but… it’s actually a bicycle, not a motorcycle. Then he clarifies that it’s his chance to get a Top Ten, people got confused though. Just as he exits the Quarry, he saw Quinchy getting into a car and go chasing him. Mastah won and never look back from his Bullet. Broughy decided to just dive into the water. He got the checkpoint, but he also respawned. Then he unintentionally put the bike on the water which caused him to respawn again. He HAD to try it though, and at least he didn’t lose any position, and get the checkpoint or else he would respawn at the Quarry instead. Not that it matters since the rest of the race is already pretty bad. And Broughy got Top Ten in the end, though apart from the Steal and the Airport Jump, this race is pretty bad for him. That did not go well, but it could be worse. Never Give Up, Gfred Spirit.
Meanwhile, Mopar finished 3rd followed by Copyright at 4th and Fluffy at 5th. Still, he feels that this race is a reversed karma. He also saw 0.2 Seconds gap between C0N and Quinchy at 11th and 12th. Watz followed them at 13th. Twelve Seconds between the Top Two, and English Racoon at 15th. Speedracer said “You'll go down in history as the man who managed to get a baller stuck on chiliad” And there will be a chance of redemption on the next standard Gfred. Mastah said “oh, there was more than 12 seconds, I didn't even use airport jump and was messing around on the island”
Terrible driving + brilliant car thievery = this race.

It bothers me that Broughy doesn't use the burnout mechanic to pivot his way of getting stuck. It's been a while since I played GTA, but iirc you can spin in place with disregard to your surroundings by holding the gas and brake at the same time. With some determination you can pop a wheel or two on top of rocks other small debris.

It would be even slower, the perk of the OG route is that it's easy to go up while the hotlap route is risky but quicker. Same goes for going down it.
