Have you ever used resin on your clay earrings? How did they turn out? We love the shiny look they give to polymer clay earrings!
Don’t drill from the back (side without uv) because when it goes through to the Uv side it pushes it away from the clay, causing the separation and air bubble under the Uv
I have it still happening when drilling from the front. Maybe it's the cure time that's affecting it because it doesn't happen every time.
I would love for Kelci to come on to show us more tutorials! I have been doing polymer clay for about 3 months and I love it! Gratitude for sharing!
thanks for your input! i'll definitely talk to her about that
Thank you for explaining the importance of using strict precautions when using resin. Extremely toxic… excellent earring tutorial🥰
Thank you so much. This was a great video. I wanted to hear your solution to shrinkage! When it comes to two part, epoxy resin the hardening has nothing to do with UV. Therefore, it does not need to be in the sunlight at all in fact, putting it in the sunlight can damage and yellow, two-part resin, there is a big issue of shrinkage when it comes to two-part resin, so you always have to do a second layer with that so with your pricing adjustment, you’re a spot on! Also, you are very lucky to not have had shrinkage so much, and the mat that you are suggesting is perfect, because all resin pulls to the center when it is curing, that’s how so many resin artist like myself use different colors and resin and techniques to create three dimensional designs. We rely on the fact that all resin poles in word I have a resin cure machine because the most important aspect for two-part resin is heat and I have a machine that I use to cure the earrings because with such a small amount of resin so thin, it’s not able to create as much heat as bigger pieces will because they can hold the heat better! For Bubbles another quick fix is to spritz it with isopropyl alcohol, especially if they’re just using it for earrings, and I was taught a trick with resin that won’t cure that stays tacky you can spray it with WD-40 and let it dry in the sunlight with the WD-40 on it I’ve had 50-50 luck with that! I think Tj diction is a great company especially because they have a two part very fast caring resin, but that one will have more air bubbles than uv resin because it doesn’t need to be stirred . I am a huge admirer of your clay work! I’ve been working with resin for years and I’m allergic to it, so I also wanna thank you for being vigilant and telling people to wear goggles wear a respirator do not touch the UV resin it can burn peoples skin to second degree on a sunny day it’s dangerous stuff and I’m very happy that you went over all of that! I’d love to see some videos of your process on your earrings, always so glad when you comment or show a piece in our group, you are very inspiring! I agree that it is worth using resin and I like your technique of the brush on small layer of resin for embedded cutters, that was such a brilliant idea you had! I’ve been working with resin for years, but clay I am only six months and and have a ton to learn! So I would love to see more instructional videos by you! You’re very talented! And super adorable much love Erin Bochan sorry for any typos
Thanks!
That thing where the resin fills itself in is referred to as self-leveling. Also, when using the 2-part epoxy resin, it cures faster in sunlight but cures just as well in regular lighted rooms or even in the dark. I'm in Detroit, MI and we don't have the luxury of too many bright sunny days in fall, winter and early spring.
A monthly tutorial would be good! It was her first tutorial on this channel that inspired me to make my own. Thank you for this tutorial!
So awesome to hear that!!
Hi. How did you get flowers on that earring?
Great safety tips in the beginning! And I appreciated the demo (21:47)
Glad it was helpful!
I work with gel nails, and Uv resin is the same. Lifting occurs when the seal is broken, if you’re drilling a hole doing a thin layer of gel in the hole will help seal it. Or making a hole before resin
That was such an informative tutorial 👍👍👍 Thank you! Please come back!
Glad you enjoyed it! Definitely trying to get Kelci back on the channel ☺️☺️
I wish i had seen this tutorial first!😅 I've had success and failures, but this video helped even though i use a different UV resin. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for your insight. I use Epoxy but have been considering UV Resin.
Glad it was helpful!
This video was amazingly helpful - Kelci, you're an excellent teacher, thank you!!
Thanks for watching! She is really wonderful!
I didn't know you could get bad batches of good resin! Good to know!
Yes! We want Kelli!
Don’t apologize for talking so much, I really enjoyed you. Thanks for so much info. I put mine on a little mat and on a little lazy Susan thing to spin it to get to all sides and get a good look at it.
thanks for watching! appreciate you!
Yes, more Kelci guest tutes!!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I was having major shrinking issues, so much better!!
FYI epoxy resin doesn't need sunlight. The reason it's 2 parts is because when you mix 2 different liquids and it causes the chemical reaction to start the cure process.
Thanks for the insight!!
And 2 part epoxy can yellow as well.
How thick do you make your pendants. I'm having a hard time to know the right thickess.
I know this is an older video but I just started working with polymer clay is the UV resin the only stuff you can use on the earrings I'm very allergic to epoxy but i love the shiny look
I’ve been using UV resin for years, I had a piece that had run off. It was very annoying and a first, I was happy I was able to fix it.
You are amazing p. Thank you for the best example I have seen about uv resining a clay piece
Great job on this subject…helped me a lot …good for you
I want to do my post backs with UV resin, but always stays sticky. How to fix this? My finger prints stays there and isn't looks nice.
monthly tutorial would be great!
Yes!👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for sharing, I’m just starting PC earrings and need as much advice as possible
Gorgeous!!
Thank you so much!
I do love your video. Thank you!!
Love her she's awesome thank you guys🙏🏽
Great video 😊
Thanks for watching
More of her!!
Yes! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Did h bake the polymer first before putting a resin
When drilling just resin front drill from front and then resin back if you want to.
Fantastico, felicidades
How do you remove smudges if they happen like finger prints
Cotton swab dipped in acetone will remove them!
I use JDiction resin as well, but I'm getting a slight ripple pattern on the surface after curing on some of my pieces, I can't figure out what's going on, have you had that problem?
Using ultra thin layers, a powerful curing lamp, having a nice and cool room, keeping a dehumidifier nearby, and being super careful about how much heat I apply to the resin has all helped. I also measure the temp of the resin and turn off the lamp if it gets over 120F. I know that's kinda complicated but it's better than ruining a good piece of clay with bad resin!!
Do you wipe the resin with alcohol after curing?
I really think is the best thing to do. Is seems like the only that really helps with smudges
Do you resin the sides and back also?
No, just the top!
I was going to ask the same! Do you do anything to the sides and back?
I resin the back too, but I make a lot of drop pendant earrings where folks will definitely see both sides.
@@jazzpear8877 What is your process for getting the sides and back? I’ve been failing horribly at this and wasting so much time trying to fix my resining issues. Any advice on materials to use?
@@stacyh9286 cure it on one side then flip it over and start again
Can I use any kind of uv light lamp
Do you resin the sides and back?
Using a higher powered lamp can help with tackiness.
Can you use resin on pieces that already have holes poked?
Yes but it will fill the holes unless you’re careful
What about backs? I seal my backs with liquid clay but want to know if resin is something I would need to do before this or after since I re-bake them again for the backs???
After, don’t put resin in the oven.
@@coolrunnings3 so do the backs first and then do the resin?? Correct??
@@foxybody1 Correct!
@@coolrunnings3 thank you so much for answering 💙
How do you remove smudges if it happens
Cotton swab dipped in acetone
@@RaisingNoblesNot alcohol?
Do you put resin on both sides
I was wondering the same thing- or rather how to resin both sides. that's what i'm struggling with at the moment.
What kind of resin did you use ??
It’s in the description box! But it’s JDiction UV resin from amazon!
Is this resin is toxic ??
Do you bake first then UV
Yes!
