  • The Other Side Of The Customer Life Cycle. In this video I talked about how your customer makes purchasing decisions. they might spend only $35 to have you cut their lawn, but I guarantee you there are about to spend 35,000 getting their new roof installed, Or $350,000 buying a new house. the question is, where and how are you showing up during this customers buying journey?

Just to be clear. There are lots of companies that make lots of money in the lawn care and landscaping business.
But the real challenge is getting the pricing and systems dialed in to be able to afford the infrastructure required to scale up the business.

If we could only live like kids our whole lives when we focused on having fun and enjoying life, once your an adult it becomes 100% about money, every thought and every aspect of life revolves around making money, spending money, and a million other things that all revolve around freakin money, and this is coming from a guy that has a very successful Painting Business with over 250k in savings. It’s just disappointing that life has to be all about money and if you deny this your in denial

Customers love niche businesses if there in your area. We refinish wood floors and clients research today and within a few seconds they Google a few keywords we pop up where before they called a flooring store for this service. Anyways something you said made me think of that but good videos love them and your getting really good at them too

All I got from this video is that if I want to make real money I need to sell more skilled jobs and keep learning. I've been making more than last year only because I increased the higher paying projects such us landscape installation, sod, garden design and planting, River rock/stone installs etc. It's good to keep learning and keep improving and not only count on 1 service. For example due to heat and no rain in Ontario the lawn care guys have been idle..I'd hate for this to happen to me especially since I have set goals or profit and net profit for each month.

That's right have to build your business and sell yourself I have 3 business and when theres no tree jobs then I go to concrete flat work and when theres no concrete fill swimming pools easy money and I have the equipment. Nothing is easy but not impossible. have to keep pushing. no matter what time of the day, what day or around the clock. and money will flow and bills will get paid on time. IN MY BOOK MEANS NO DEFEAT.

Easiest way to raise your ticket price is to start bidding commercial softscape jobs. You know exactly what your unit price is for bringing in dirt, plants and mulch. They give you the plans and you give them a price. Easy easy 10K+ tickets on little condos. Eric Reno probably knows some big fish, get juiced in with them and be solid contractor and you can go far

In my business you have to know if you are pulling sales from the customers fun money or their money for basic needs. It is always harder to sell for the fun money because people are always tighter with fun money.

Keith, do you ever offer financing for your services? One thing I noticed is hvac, roofers, etc offer financing which helps the customer to afford the big ticket items!
I just got a qoute to take down a monster tree in my backyard (12ft around the base) $1600 I know it's a good price but I had to put it off because I have other big ticket items come up.

Wow at the 12 minute mark you talked about why you do just go into another business. This is my 6th year in business. I know I am not the biggest guy in town but I have learned how not to just turn a dollar anymore. I have expanded into tree work and like I have shared I have been trained on how to climb and trim trees. I do this on the side but I have no idea what the market really is for this kind of work. I will climb a few trees a few times a year but that is about all. I guess by expanding into tree work it is like me digging a little stream that over time will grow. But I am a small guy and I don't have the knowledge to go full time all out like our friend Daniel. (As an example). Also around the 15 minute mark you said it first but you know this. You care about me and I also care about you and I care about Ashley. I love you guys.

I think there's certain things that each person considers exciting and worth the money. Then there's things that people need to buy like a roof. My brother had to spend 20k on his roof in order to sell his house that he made 100k profit. Some people are obsessed with their landscaping and 5 10k is worth it to them. Also think people get a roof once every 20 years. I think if you keep a customer for 20 years you might come close to the price of a roof in installs and maintenance. People can't do the roof themselves. Everyone thinks landscaping is easy. So there's a few differences for sure. Roof one time deal. Landscaping ongoing. Just my thoughts

If the idea of SCALEing upsets people, they should not be in business ;) grow up ppl and wrap your brains around it. Its all a matter of ticket price and what level you want to sell at. The formula is the same, its the medium that changes it.

So You’re basically saying to up your prices when you see a customers with money 💰?
I think that’s kinda messed up. I see it as taking advantage of those customers. Price your work for what it’s worth, what you’re worth, based off of your rates and surrounding.
It’s like if you were to compare cars 🚗 to trucks 🛻. Of course trucks will be worth more Bc they can do more.
If you want that big money in landscaping than leave residential business. Move to the large DOT landscaping job, to county jobs, or commercial in general so you can become a millionaire too.
