I think this actually helps Jimmy to get away with the "car broke down story" later on when Lalo came back to their apartment. It's a necessary scene to build Kim's credibility for Lalo.
I think Lalo knows Kim isn't actually Saul's wife, and maybe in Season 6 it will actually be Lalo that causes the break-up between the two. While all the other shit is going on with Nacho and Gus.

Dammit I can't wait already! What the heck is going to happen to Nacho & Kim? Is Kim really out of the woods from being killed off? I mean, Lalo did return to Mexico, but he is going to get some payback, but I wonder if that will in any way involve Saul/Kim, or is this solely going to be a him vs. Gus thing, where he beats Nacho to get some information? Somehow, Gus ends up being completely innocent because he is still working with the Cartel in Breaking Bad until he betrays them, so looks like either any information Lalo manages to get dies with him, or he won't make it that far to find out it was Gus that planned it all.
Or he is set of by Gus and is taken out by the cartel’s for something he didn’t do .
