not going to lie this looked like we were about to find out why Kim doesn't appear in Breaking Bad.
Eleo2k I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately. I think he’ll lie and betray her one final time which will compel her to leave him, at least that’s what I’m hoping for instead of her getting killed. I can’t see him being as chipper as he was in BB knowing the only woman he ever truly cared about was dead because of him.
@@Vixx89 you think she is the one that will leave? I feel like she cares too much for him to leave, I think Jimmy is the one that will leave her to make sure she is not in danger anymore because of him
Tursiops you could be right, but I don’t know how he’d think that’d be possible at this point when she pretty much made herself a part of this by visiting Lalo in jail, and stepping up to him, etc.. He mentions Lalo in BB which either tells me either Lalo is still alive, or Saul never found out his fate, as Mike understandably doesn’t tell him every little thing that’s going on. Either Saul leaves Kim, Kim leaves Saul, or she goes into hiding by the vacuum guy, that’s what I think. I just really hope she doesn’t die.

The cup with the bullet hole is still in the bag with the money. When Jimmy tells Lalo he can have his money back Kim is looking at the bag and realises she has to step in!

He always darted his eyes towards Saul. Even when she was talking he didnt really shift his attention, only after she gets to him after calling out his bigger problems does he changes his gear. I guess he thought there isn't more he can do to get something out of them.

We knew from the start that Lalo is obviously much scarier than his "funny" personality on the outside. This scene proved it. Also the music made it much more intense

I didn't even realize this: the moment Kim steps in is when Saul mentions that the money is in the bag in the other room. But not because of the money. Because the cup with the bullet hole is inside of it, and Kim knows that. So she scrambles, because the moment Lalo sees that cup it will confirm that Saul is lying.

That could also be why she said if you leave a cup out someone’s taking a shot at it. In case Lalo still did go and check the bag and found the cup, at least now Kim’s established somewhat of an excuse for that too.
you can feel kim's fear through her body language, yet she still stood her ground and defended saul. i'm so proud of her.

Lalo left because Kim had the balls to stand up to him despite the seemingly life-or-death situation they were in. The Salamancas seem to have a lot of respect for people with balls (Walt and Tuco - Mike and Hector - Kim and Lalo)
Also Nacho with the twins when he backed them up against the Espinosas and with Lalo when he recovered their product before the police burst into the room

I'm not by any means a Walt stan, but I think we can all agree that in the end it was Walt who decided this industry's fate.
I love Lalo's, "Huh, really?" line. It's like he's trying to muster that Lalo charm to mask his anger with amusement, but he can't quite do it. Kim's hit too close to home and he can't hide his frustration and discomfort like he usually does.
She neutralised that one single line of him shrugging off his fault and used it brutally to further drag him down. Kim is pure B.A.
As much as I love Lalo, I found it really satisfying to see his false charm get destroyed for once.

Kim's roast of Lalo made him feel so insecure about not having a friend that he brought Nacho with him to Mexico which led to Nacho getting killed.
Kim's speech allowed Gus to defeat Lalo.
Ironically it's this outcome that leads to Jimmy losing Kim forever. Better Call Saul always does a good job with dramatic irony.

@@Capybara2240 Lalo led Nacho to Mexico because he wanted to keep a close eye on him. Lalo decided to do this because of Kim's speech to him. This allowed Nacho to let Gus's guys inside Lalo's compound and caused a series of events that resulted in Lalo dying in the superlab.
@@RenaldyCalixte that’s kinda a reach, lalo was always going to Mexico and whether he brought nacho or not didn’t determine the reason lalo was on Gus’s case and tryin to find the lab. Also I’m pretty sure Kim’s speech didn’t make lalo take nacho since he never trusted anyone even after the speech since he’s a sociopath

To be fair the scene was longer since this isn’t the beginning of the scene when Lalo first shows up at Jimmy’s apartment.
As badass as Kim was in this scene, all it did was terrify me. Because it confirmed what Mike was telling Jimmy in an earlier episode, "She's in the game now"

What I think will be interesting is what happens when Lalo gets back to ABQ and if he confronts Kim because she inadvertently tipped him off having a rat in his inner circle with her saying you need to get your house in order if you need Jimmy to get your money

Nah, the two most tense scenes are Nacho putting fake pills back inside Hector's pocket, and Nacho submerging himself in the oil to hide from the Salamanca cousin.
But now the most tense is the entirety of Point and Shoot

I agree. While going down the rabbit hole investigating that kind of stuff, it seems like Lalo got tunnel vision and ignored the more glaring holes in his own enterprise.

One of the things that makes this so effective is that she walks closer to him as she talks. She's terrified of this man but she walks closer and closer to show him that he cant intimidate her. Real girlboss moment. We love to see a cartel leader get scolded like a child

Kim was lucky that Lalo has some small honor and self restraint

This scene really does show how Lalo was unique amongst the other Salamancas. He stood out in the sense that he is here, having every flaw of him ripped into him by this lady he doesn't really know, only having once met her.
And he simply accepts his defeat, and walks off. He knows that he was in the wrong, and he backs off. Any other Salamanca: be it Hector, the Cousins or Tuco himself, would have simply shot them both in rage. Lalo is absolutely horrifying, he's a genuine monster because he knows how to play his emotions just right, yet he commits so much evil.
He walks away because he realizes there is betrayal in the Salamanca clan. Killing them is messy and unnecessary at the moment, he knows where they live.
Not really. The other salamancas also has respect for those who are willing to risk their life to prove a point.

He even implicates Nacho by saying "it was all Nacho's idea". S6 of Better Call Saul is certainly gonna be interesting 😏

I mean I'm loving it, but some of the drama is missing a little when you know that the characters involved are mainly safe

3:13 I love this little acting detail. When Kim points out the truth of the matter, Lalo breaks eye contact and blinks nervously. That's the exact moment he realizes that Kim is right, and that he needs to start building trust with his men sooner rather than later. It's a small gesture, but it says a lot.
To be fair....with the people he works with a lot of them might get very dumb very fast if they were holding $7 million dollars.
And that's exactly leads to nacho betraying Lalo. Damn

She was right; she told him that he needed to get his house in order if he couldn’t trust his men to bring him his money. But as soon as he goes to his house, Nacho let in Gus’ hitmen
I love that when Kim says ‘get your house in order,’ Lalo responds, ‘really?’ with a laugh that simultaneously says ‘who are you? You have no idea what you’re talking about!’ And then when Kim explains what she means, Lalo’s entire expression/body language changes to, ‘maybe I DO have to get my house in order!’
You’d never think Lalo would have ever had some self awareness in that moment let alone be open to that kinda criticism but when you think about it, tuco out and hector in a wheelchair he knows there’s a target on him as well as the whole family (comes with the business naturally) but it wasn’t until Kim said something that he finally allows the thought that possibly it’s his own men that could easily betray them

Lalo fascinates me as a character. The one thing that sets him apart from the other Salamancas is that he's learned (albeit in a very sociopathic kind of way) to act nice. He is not as brutal as the other members of his family, but he's every bit as merciless and when nice and fun and smooth-talking doesn't work anymore, he gets the same kind of predatory, dead-eyed look on his face that the Twins, Tuco, and Hector have. Then, when the killing is over, it's straight back to smiles and making omelets. Like nothing ever happened.

Yeah , thats what i got from that scene , specially the ending Lalo is going to make some Rework with his crew AMD cartel. When he tells Nacho, "change of plans" I think that lalo is going to kill Nacho, especially after we saw that he feels sorry for his uncle Salamanca and the state in which he is, a vegetable. I like to think that Lalo knows somehow that Both Kim and Saul were lying, but he knows that the Bigger problems are inside his cartel , he knows that Someone is talking, a mole.

Nacho Vargas is the Jessie Pinkman of BCS, his future will be probably not the happiest but I'm almost sure he's not gonna die.
@@MrCris2021 why would he kill nacho, that does not make sense in the current situation. As of now, nacho is a trustworthy and reliable asset for lalo. I get that maybe in the future if he realizes it was him that made hector a cripple, but that doesnt seem like a close scenario
Man, Lalo is such an amazing character. He comes into the room, all happy and cheerful, and yet you can feel the air getting cold with him just being there.
Amazing actor. Him and Michael Mando are true gems I would like to see them in other projects they are truly great talents.

we're all talking about Kim but can we get some love for Mike? he rushed over to protect his friend, Gus would never bother sending him over to protect some random lawyer especially by killing Lalo and ruining his grand plan but Mike rushed over and if Lalo had tried anything he would have killed him, really shows the friendship that has grown between Jimmy and Mike.
Gus needed jimmy not to squeal. He was trying to have lalo killed and the cartel thieves in the desert were not part of gus frings plans. But yeah, mike respects saul
Honestly funny how it went from Mike giving Jimmy a hard time about paying for parking, to willing to kill the most dangerous man to save Jimmy's life.

My mind was blown after realizing Kim had actually convinced him. If Jimmy was by himself he would have gotten too intimidated and said something incriminating. Kim always knows how to keep a cool head

Apparently he wasn't, because you don't just excuse people you suspect of stealing from you. You eliminate them on the spot. Either he was fully convinced or not sure enough to kill someone over his assertions. Either way, he was convinced.
Not gonna lie: I was literally sweating nervously during this scene because I was expecting Lalo to shoot Kim dead or something.
Yeah this was a masterclass scene revolving around the idea of tension. So much is happening with so little going on. Nothing flashy, just subtle dread.

I think Kim is not dead or something in the BB timeline, if we can see how strong Jimmy and Kim relationship if Kim dead Jimmy never become a lowyer anymore.
Just realised what Kim told Lalo about not trusting his own men made him take Nacho with him because he wanted to trust him, and in turn landed Nacho in a spot where he had to betray Lalo. That's some butterfly effect.
Lalos families men tried to rob lalo. He can't trust anyone especially after the E10 finale.
Same music as the second time he comes to their apartment.
I like how they chose that music to signify the horror continuing.

What. A. Scene., There were moments where I thought that he was going to hit her. At times, I thought he was going to shoot her. If not, I thought he would at least threaten her/them. But wow. He goes away without a word. The beauty of this scene is that the tension is not over. It is still very much in the air. What the f is Lalo gonna do?

It's so amazing how they use our knowledge of Kim not being in Breaking Bad against us. We know something happens to her, or at the very least that she buys a vacuum, but they play so much with her and Nacho, using out own knowledge against us. This is brilliant. It's a prequel done right. I need Season 6 now.

Lalo couldn't help but admire her. Even if he still knew something was wrong with the story. The shock of her logic measured against the uncertainty of his suspicions. Accuse the accuser is a tactic with some merit when you possess the leverage of logic and a self conscious accuser.

This solidified kim as my favorite character. She stood straight in the face of Lalo Salamanca and told him off without a second of fear shown. I could even say she has as much confidence in herself as walter does. 10/10 character.
Actually she shows some fear, and how can you blame her? Her voice breaks a couple times, she moves around a lot and makes her points in an agitated way. But despite that she never backs down and goes all the way in. That's even more badass to me.

Kim has courage. Kim is terrified but stands up anyway because she believes something else is important. Walt does not stand up against anyone unless he *knows* he has the upper hand. They are not the same
I love how Mike highly approved Kim’s toughness when he met her for the first time.
Kim has done this twice. Blatantly lied infinitely better than Saul showing she is the better lawyer, while also saving his life twice (both from Chuck and Lalo) What an amazing character.

This is, without a doubt, the best scene from any TV show I’ve ever seen. Nothing has ever evoked a more helpless feeling as I was watching. I was white-knuckling for what seemed like an eternity and the scene was 5 minutes long.
Yeah because you know that neither Saul or Kim are action heroes. They are just regular people. There is no way they can physically challenge somebody like Lalo. All they have as lawyer is an ability to try to talk their way out of the situation but Lalo isn't the kind of guy who is easily BSed. Also the fact that many important people die in this universe you could never know for sure whether Kim was going to get a bullet or not.
Kim Wexler is by far the greatest character Vince Gilligan could come up with.

Lalo is the most captivating character I've seen in this show, or even Breaking Bad. He's legitimately totally unpredictable. Think about it, what character can WALK OUT OF THE HOSTILE SITUATION and simultaneously make the situation as a whole that much more hostile. It leaves the viewers with the knowledge that Lalo has the restraint not to attack here, when he knows he's smart enough to wait and let a better opportunity present itself later, to maybe kill both of them. Brilliant writing, Gus uses fear to control his enemies, but Lalo's intimidation comes less in what he says. Like tapping on the fish tank, he doesn't want to demonstrate control, he wants to demonstrate his enemy's lack of control. Just like when he went into Gus' restaurant, unlike when Hector did in previous seasons, Lalo actually acted cordually and mannerly to appease Gus. But applying himself as a customer confuses Gus and forces him to struggle with which persona to adopt during their conversation. Lalo didn't seek to empower Gus, he simply robbed him of his greatest power. I love this show.

The problem is its literally two shows. Both are amazing, but I think some people get bored with the law/drama parts while others aren't into the crime/high stakes parts. This show IS amazing, but it just doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Once you're in you're in and you love it, but it can be slow to grab ya.

People in the comments saying Mike was standing up for Saul because he liked him etc is completely incorrect. He was prepared to clip Lalo because he was scared Saul would reveal Mike's (& therefore Gus') involvement under pressure. Lalo would alert his cousins, Hector etc, after that, there would be no possible way to get rid of Lalo without Gus revealing his true intentions. When a psycho killer like that comes uninvited into your appartment with you & your wife's life on the line, you could end up revealing everything. As viewers, we half expected him to tell the truth too.
If it was just about protecting Saul, Mike wouldn't have asked him to record the conversation, he'd simply have waited until Lalo drew his gun to kill him first.
He wanted to know if Jimmy would crack first, and what Lalo knew. Kim basically saved everyone a lot of trouble lol.
On a seperate note, Mike would never kill him unless Gus gave him the ok first, after all their past disputes, he wouldn't risk it
What's ironic is Mike warned Jimmy not to tell Kim anything, yet it was Kim's knowledge of the situation that saved Jimmy and threw Lalo off the trail.

Kim was so smart by calling out Lalo on what his suspicion was. When Lalo said Saul's car had a bullet hole in it, Kim was great thinking on her feet by asking if that's all he had and then saying that any abandoned car in the desert would probably get vandalized. Saul was still off his game from his travails in the desert and was off his game. If Kim hadn't been there, Lalo would have killed Saul. I hope Kim gets out alive and soon. She's too good for Saul

Actually, I realize only now that in a clever way Kim basically told Lalo that he was questioning the wrong guy about what happened in the desert. She embarrassed him by making him realize he almost got played by his own people, yet still Saul escaped that large trap and to proved his loyalty to the assignment/Lalo...
God I just love Kim so much. Rhea sets the bar for the “strong female” character but it it also comes down to the writing. She understood the assignment and I hope to see her in more work in the future
