THANKS FOR WATCHING!
I joined his classes online and now my paintings went from being 5 star to 9 star!! After one class I understood more about color than any of 30 books or tutorials could get across. THANK YOU Michael!
Just pure genius, each video I watch I'm more and more amazed.
I wish I was younger, I would love to be able to do something like this 🤔
Please don't ever stop posting! Beautiful picture. Thank you so much for the instructions!
Your videos are great Michael. For this style of painting you have the very best teaching on UA-cam.
Это просто великолепно!!!! Нет слов, я буду стремиться писать так же, как же красиво!!!! 😊
I've struggled painting submerged rocks for years but you've clarified it nicely. I love your work. Its amazing. Thank you so much for uploading your tutorials. They're the best I've seen. :-)
Another lovely picture...thankyou very much for showing us Michael.
Michael , your painting looks much better than the photo. Wow you are fantastic! When talent was passed out you got a bunch of it. Fran
always happy to see your tutorial video..
Hi Michael , Mozart composed over 600 musical compositions in 35 years. This includes symphonies, operas,, concertos, piano selections and many more musical categories. This verifies his genius. Just to let you know where you stand. The Mozart of the art world. Cheers, Fran
I am loving your instructive videos! Thank you so much!
I had looked at some of your paintings and wondered how you painted the rocks that are under water....thanks so much for sharing....brilliant work.
You are a gifted artist. Ah! 👍❤️ I enjoy watch you paint .
Michael, again another stunning picture. It's even better than the physical picture itself. I'm soo appreciative of you giving tips and tricks to doing this oil painting. I've never tried oil painting before and because you've inspired me so much, I tried to paint a bush. My bush look so sad, it look like a big goop in the middle of no where. But I'll try again and hopefully it will turn out a better looking goop. Thank you with all my heart. Please keep your videos going.
Desde Chile Agradezco sus tutoriales. Recién comenzando mi desarrollo en ésta área.
Muchas Gracias por sus tutoriales. Que tenga mucha felicidad y salud y que le vaya bien.
You are the only one on you tube worth watching
Thanks for all your videos. You are the most realistic artist I've seen. Love this video.
Cuánta dedicación, tiempo y la caeacterística más importante de todo buen pintor: paciencia.
Es un trabajo hermoso. Cada una de sus obras es bella. Casi hiperrrealista . Me encanta.
Мишенька, Вы просто чума! Ничего подобного я ещё не видела. Ваша картины реалистичнее фотографий.
You can read the picture effortlessly. Just watching you place the colours with ease...
Felicitaciones,por ese gran talento.
I'm so glad that I came across your videos. My paintings have taken on a much finer appearance. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us these excellent videos.
Beautiful painting
As always, fabulous.
OK, so define.. EXCELLENT.. Well watered.
I'm preparing myself to start a new painting project that has rocks underneath the water. This is very helpful in giving the appearance of gleaming, clear, water. I'll put a few rocks protruding out of the water too. Once I'm done, can I show it to you Michael? I would love a professional's critique.
what an artist you are thankyou
Thank you very much for an inspiring session. I learnt a lot your painting techniques and have watched many of your videos. Absolutely wonderful.
Hi Michael. Your oil paintings are amazing. I used to paint in oils with the wet on wet technique but have spent the last 27 years concentrating on airbrushing. You mentioned while doing the rocks mixing liquid with the paint. What exactly is this liquid you refer to? I know paint thinner is in the larger paint can.
Thank you. Absolute great and inspiring
Wonderful video Michael. You are a very good teacher. Thank you. Could you please show the way your "hand rest" is constructed that slides easily over the canvas. Also, It is very helpful when you name the video that gives a hint what it is about for us to be able to search and re-watch. This one had an excellent name. Roena
Beautiful! As always.
Perfeito claridades e posição do reflexo no espelho da água perfeito obrigado 🇧🇷
I absolutely love this one! I love artwork of transparent water showing the rocks through. And I wish I hadn’t listened to my art teachers who told us not to use small brushes and not to focus on too much detail, now how silly is that advice. 😜
I expect to see a fish swim by in your waterscapes! Excellent work great demos.
I was trying to paint from one of your speed paintings and I totally messed up the rocks under water... Now I have an Idea how you paint them... thank you so much for sharing this....
Another great post, thanks for all the time you put in doing these. 😊
So beautifully demonstrated!
meus Deus ,que lindo,Deus abençoe seu trabalho, que perfeição.
My great teacher! I love you!🤝🤝🤝👏👏👏
What is this large fluffy brush you are using to "soften"? Just a large soft bristled brush? I do love your tutorials, after years of not painting I've decided to take it back up. I watch you now like a daily class. Thank you for your time and effort.
C'est magnifique ! 💚💚💚💚
Wonderful Michael!
Great. This will be another reference video as the need arises. Thanks.

You amaze me. Now, I go into my studio-less dining room to struggle along with my painting. LOL Seriously, you are gifted, from Above. Dude.
Hi Michael I just Loved all your painting works! and you sure will be an inspiration for many budding artists like me :)
BTW Is that a Canvas board which you are painting on?
If not, which material board are you using?
Maravilhoso!!! Grande vídeo...
I can't get Liquin here in Spain, they just don't use it,so would linseed and pure turps work for the overglaze instead do you think? Beautiful work as usual Michael, and great tuition.
Morning from New Zealand
Amazin u r the best can't wait to try this.
thanks for showing us this helpful video
Wow. Just found your channel and sub'd. Watched #52, 51 & this one so far and I'm just blown away by your mad skills! I truly think I loved this one out of the 3 so far but they are all beautiful I just love the "see through" underwater rocks and that look of the water. Thank you so much for sharing your skill with the rest of us. I'm self taught so I rely on folks like yourself for the stuff like you are showing. The up close nitty gritty of one specific thing at a time. At least for me this is a fantastic find knowledge wise as well as a pleasure to watch. Thanks again! Big Hugs!!
Reeah.

Beautiful, thanks for the tips!!
the brush over the stones is shining what did you used? and do you place the reflections after the gloss?? or...? ( I am learning now). I dont' know very much and need to learn a lot yet. Thanks again.
There was a feeling that the water really flows at 14:51 minute. Cool.
Great teacher 👌
Absolutely beautiful......again..........thank you so much
AND what colors are you mention using for the stones, I see blackin the palette, but we see browns (ochre?) on the water.
Hey Michael! Thanks for the great teaching. I'm going to try a similar scene. Thanks for the inspiration :)!
Cool...Love it. I learn a lot from your videos.
You are so entertaining. ...love your work

you're very talented artist...
keep it up I learn so much from your videos. what color did you use for the river bottom block in color?
Beautiful
The worst blocking-in you have ever done !? It sure didn't show up at the end ! 😂 😀👌 Thank you for that really helpful vidéo Michael 👍
no one was good at painting landscape realistic enough untill i found you
Michael James Smith what kind of paint are you using?
Aldo Zavala
He said that in a couple vids...
Hello. Your work is breathtaking! I just found your videos about two weeks ago. I have subscribed and totally enjoy your tutorials! I completed a painting a couple days ago with a small lake, however my reflections are lacking. Can you apply Liquin after you've done everything else? I used oil paints and would really love to add these beautiful reflections to my piece. Your art is truly amazing!! Thank you for sharing! Thank you in advance also for answering.
Michael James Smith Hello again.. 😊 Thank you for your reply. I will try the linseed oil for this one. I'd worked on it for a few weeks off and on as time permitted. Some areas may be completely dry and some parts that are not. Your tutorials have taught me some helpful techniques to improve my work! Thank you for sharing and teaching, it's very wonderful! :-)
Perfect
Brilliant!
Hello, Michael. Thank you for your detailed tutorials. I just need to understand one thing. What do the white dots represent on the surface of the water? Are they like parts stepped on by flying insects? Just wondering sir. Thank you!
They're highlights. Highlighting the ripples in the water. Could be from bugs flying down into the water, or could be from the movement of the water from natural occurrences such as flow, or wind. However, that would be quite a bit of bugs making all those "white dots" and i dont think he had a swarm of nats in mind for his painting.lol :D
Would it be possible to do the entire painting in acrylic? That's all I have at the moment. Do you predominantly use oils?
Good lord almighty, this guy's work is awesome. I can't decide if it's inspiring or totally depressing...
Seriously. I hope he thanks God for his gift. It couldn't be from anywhere else.
I love it
Hello Michael James, I am clayton ferreira from brazil, and I am impregnated with the realism of your paintings, I am your fan. However, kindly ask me some questions, what brush do you use to make this effect in the water? Do you use any blotters? Do you paint on canvas? I have tried many times to make this effect in the water but whenever I put an ink on the other they mix and let it dry I do not get that effect. My dream and be 10% of the artist that you are! congratulations!
wow!perfect!
Maestro !!!!!
