I have such a love-hate relationship with the end cards. Every time they pop up during a tense situation I find myself hoping against hope that he somehow makes it.
Hey, NL, if you rope the shopkeeper, steal his stuff, and leave without killing him, you get forgiven after only one more floor without killing shopkeepers.
Had a run once where I got to the black market, not killed a single shopkeeper on that run, I rescued the hired help on that floor and decided to go shopping. The madlad picked up a compass from one of the shops and just ran out with it and aggroed the shopkeepers. Since that day I don't trust them one bit!
One time Dan pissed off one of the hired helps on accident and the guy froze and killed him. No matter how many times he says "friendship ended with Ryan Gary," he keeps getting the little killer
Honestly man, don't stress about dying on the caves for a couple of runs. As a casual player I am constantly frustrated by dying to dumb shit on the caves and it's actually nice to see more skilled players having the same sort of deaths. Makes me feel a lot better.
Yeah. I had 1k+ deaths in spelunky 1, only killing yama once just to die to a vampire at the door. Im stuck pretty consistently at volcania and the jungle. What im trying to say is that im a dipshit and I dont feel too bad about it when they make simple mistakes
I used to be able kill Yama consistently on Spelunky HD however in this one I'm lucky if I make to Olmec. I feel like Derek really went overboard with all the insta death mechanics in this one.

Hey NL fun fact: Dracula’s cape from Dracula’s castle in volcania causes and such to drop more blood, meaning it synergies’s well with an early Kapala. Also it’s possible to get to Dracula’s castle without the ojedi if you have bombs to spare. Good luck in your spelunky 2 endeavors, and praise baldi.

the tilt in the last couple of seconds hits different, you can see his mood go straight to zero in less than a second. Very understandable tho, id stop playing for the day after that.

By the way Mr. Lion, whenever he has a key, you can drop all the items into the lower space, and just yeet a bomb up there, and he wont know what to do. Same goes with if the key area is above him i believe. It does cost a bomb, but it's much more effective (i've found) than hoping you just pick up the gun.
The mattock can be used to kill shopkeepers. Just face away from them and spam the attack button and they'll get hit on the backswing. You can easily stunlock them. Noticed a couple shops with the mattock in where you've gone for the rope trick and got screwed by the key dropping, like in this video
I don't know if it's just me but it spoils a bit of the fun when I see the end of videos tiles pop-up before the death / actual end of a run. Maybe delay it just a smidge to keep the suspense 'til the end? Otherwise been loving getting my dose of Spelonky everyday, keep it up dad! Cheers!
NL, please try to steal from the shopkeepers rather than killing them! You'll save yourself so much heartache if you can get away with it! Also, the freeze ray does affect the boss, making him a one whip KO! It'd be the easiest way to get the bombs. So yes, it would have been worth one bomb. The shot gun is better than the ice gun but the ice has its perks you can freeze porcupine guy and jump on him for insta kill and insta kill shopkeepers plus is good with flying characters or the yeti bosses

He also had a run when hired help picked up a golden skull that triggered a trap and killed them both. It's even in one of comedic timing comps.

Freeze ray's usefullness sort drops off after that point. I usually swap it out with a rang if I dont get a shotgun.

Then grab the gun and start blasting

I just pick up and drop the key really fast by double tapping it. It will pick up the shotgun after you drop the key.

A good tip for an early kapala is if you hit the lizards for 2 damage they'll run at you and spit blood, and you can farm HP super easy.

If you're good, you can also get the shopkeep's shotty and run, getting all the benefits of killing a shopkeeper with the chance of forgiveness.
