Maybe I’m thinking of a different artist, but I think she has you put in the amount you’re willing and able to pay to download her music. And like you can totally put $0 if you can’t afford it.

i looked this song up because of skam italy and i didn't realize it was THAT Amanda Palmer, so being a huge dresen dolls fan i freaked out for a good 5 minutes
The first time I heard this, I didn't think much of it. Every time since then, I've been enthralled by this piece. It may be a perfect piece of music.
Love it love it love it. Great source of connection for me and my current partner. Knowing the pain of relationships gone awry helps understand how to do this one much better.

Yeah, the old stuff stuff for sure - but DD is an old project, but still cool of her to do that. Regardless, I'm going to keep buying this album for people. It's only $5.99 to gift to my peoples via MP3 on Amazon. My point is that this album entertains, moves, and inspires me on a daily basis and I'm happy to give $6 for the 4 years it took her to make it. I spend $6 on dumber things everyday, I think I can give her $6 for a single record.

Which I greatly appreciate. I got the $1 version with the bonus songs and it's my favorite album that I have on my phone. I simply can't afford to spend $15 on music, as much as I want to support my favorite artists.

A couple of the song titles are homages to her influences, as well: "Smile" to Brian Wilson & "Heart Trout Replica" to Captain Beefheart. Of course, Brian's been a major influnece on everyone from the Beatles to Pink Floyd to Bowie to REM to Tom Petty to Smashing Pumpkins, so it's natural that Amanda would be strongly influenced, too.
The Jim Morrison reference is very cool.
Especially loved that ending. This is a highlight of the tracks I've heard so far.

Anyone know if Amanda has ever confirmed that this song was inspired in part by PJ Harvey's "Down By The Water"? (Both pleading to big fish/little fish to reunite them with a lost loved one?)
I definitely think it is. The part "Why you always hating on the band? You know he loved them and they kept him laughing" made me think of her the first time. Also, dying in the bath- Kristen Pfaff, Hole's bassist who died in the bath after Kurt died. I love Courtney but yeah, this is pretty spot on.
Now i understand why she was so excited about this album, it really is fucking amazing

She might gives a shit about to a certain extent. She makes most of her cash from touring. Giving away the album gets people to the show. There are a lot of great bands that don't get $1 million on kickstarter, and I don't think she'd want to set the example for people downloading *their* alums for free. It's how they fund tours aside from tip jars and day jobs.
