No, she literally doesn't care about people downloading her albums. Her common response to people asking where to buy her old Dresden Dolls stuff is "Dude, just torrent it."
Maybe I’m thinking of a different artist, but I think she has you put in the amount you’re willing and able to pay to download her music. And like you can totally put $0 if you can’t afford it.
Oh wow! I just listened to this song for the first time. It's amazing and brilliant and it completely put my mind in a different place. It blew me away a bit! I love Amanda. She is my adult and I am soon to be 30 ha! ;p
i looked this song up because of skam italy and i didn't realize it was THAT Amanda Palmer, so being a huge dresen dolls fan i freaked out for a good 5 minutes
Love it love it love it. Great source of connection for me and my current partner. Knowing the pain of relationships gone awry helps understand how to do this one much better.
Amanda put the album up for free. So technically, it's not pirated. She made it available because she understands not everyone has the money to pay for it.
I really didnt think I would like the shedding of her Brechtian style, but I can honestly say I love every song on this album, I keep it in my art studio cos its great painting music
Yeah, the old stuff stuff for sure - but DD is an old project, but still cool of her to do that. Regardless, I'm going to keep buying this album for people. It's only $5.99 to gift to my peoples via MP3 on Amazon. My point is that this album entertains, moves, and inspires me on a daily basis and I'm happy to give $6 for the 4 years it took her to make it. I spend $6 on dumber things everyday, I think I can give her $6 for a single record.
Which I greatly appreciate. I got the $1 version with the bonus songs and it's my favorite album that I have on my phone. I simply can't afford to spend $15 on music, as much as I want to support my favorite artists.
A couple of the song titles are homages to her influences, as well: "Smile" to Brian Wilson & "Heart Trout Replica" to Captain Beefheart. Of course, Brian's been a major influnece on everyone from the Beatles to Pink Floyd to Bowie to REM to Tom Petty to Smashing Pumpkins, so it's natural that Amanda would be strongly influenced, too.
Anyone know if Amanda has ever confirmed that this song was inspired in part by PJ Harvey's "Down By The Water"? (Both pleading to big fish/little fish to reunite them with a lost loved one?)
I definitely think it is. The part "Why you always hating on the band? You know he loved them and they kept him laughing" made me think of her the first time. Also, dying in the bath- Kristen Pfaff, Hole's bassist who died in the bath after Kurt died. I love Courtney but yeah, this is pretty spot on.
I think you got my comment confused with all the ones about her armpit hair. She might gives a shit about to a certain extent. She makes most of her cash from touring. Giving away the album gets people to the show. There are a lot of great bands that don't get $1 million on kickstarter, and I don't think she'd want to set the example for people downloading *their* alums for free. It's how they fund tours aside from tip jars and day jobs.
Why does this song remind me of Courtney Love? References to fish and sunbeams and bad actors and you can't bring him back....Anyways I dedicate this to Courtney Love. Kicking up the sand cause she's so mad.
I hope you didn't download the album for free after she posted the whole flipping thing up here. Every time you download an album, it's not counted as a sale. Every time Amanda Palmer is pirated, some parent buys their 12 year old fucking Justin Bieber, which is like Justin Bieber being bought twice. Then the record companies see Justin Bieber selling shitloads of albums and AFP not as many, so they support Justin Bieber, push his songs on the radio, and tadaa! - music today.

I'm really glad to see that kind of great role-model. Madam Amanda Palmer, if by any chance you read this, you have all my respect.
Amanda's voice😍😍
This is one of my favourite songs on the album. I just love the lyrics and tempo and your voice in it ♥
Oh wow! I just listened to this song for the first time. It's amazing and brilliant and it completely put my mind in a different place. It blew me away a bit! I love Amanda. She is my adult and I am soon to be 30 ha! ;p
This might be my favorite song atm
Theatre is Evil is a great album to sob to by the way
Wait until you listen to THERE WILL BE NO INTERMISSION.
Just keep on coming back.
...I will never stop hearing it as "sad SAG actor," which, given the context, would make just as much sense as the actual lyric.
im new to the artist so what context should i be giving to that lyric?
@@aspen8609 I think op was referring to The Screen Actor's Guild.
The first time I heard this, I didn't think much of it. Every time since then, I've been enthralled by this piece. It may be a perfect piece of music.
“In My Mind” is my personal anthem but other than that, this is my favorite Amanda Palmer song, by far.
in my mind is the ultimate song

Still listening
I really, really love this.
Bought the Album and it is (as I'm sure most of you know) brilliant!
Nice one people and thanks!
I actually understand every word of this song now.

toxxikvamp If they have the internet they can afford an album.
@@dalmaximus no one is stealing it though, it can’t be stolen. It was funded with kickstarter

OK, I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing that up. It makes me respect Amanda all the more!
My favorite so far, I think.
Especially loved that ending. This is a highlight of the tracks I've heard so far.
Which I greatly appreciate. I got the $1 version with the bonus songs and it's my favorite album that I have on my phone. I simply can't afford to spend $15 on music, as much as I want to support my favorite artists.

I love this song. It makes me think of Yoko Ono, though.

The Jim Morrison reference is very cool.
Now i understand why she was so excited about this album, it really is fucking amazing
First! I love you Amanda!
отличная композиция
i do wonder if this is about someone in particular..
AMA REQUEST!

I'm a totes lowlife bottomfeeder.

Is this song about Ray Manzarek?
Feel like this song was written in regard to my wife....

You just doomed me to a life of listening to this song, and only thinking it's about Courtney Love. 😂😂
hm.
SKAM :D
Amanda doesn't give a shit.

NO VIDEO ! only music poor
happx2 It says "lyric video", and it's a video with lyrics, what did you expect? If you want music videos, try "killing type" or "Oasis"
+butterflywarrios I wanted a cheese burger but i ordered a salad and expected a cheese burger... same logic happx2 used =)
That grammar...
