The "Not my problem" mentality is actually just flatout good advice (when handled properly). We are literally so insignificant that I don't care what clothes I wear today, I don't care if I eat leftovers again, I don't care that you're vegan. Of course, if you go too far into this mindset, you either reach nihilism, the belief that everything is meaningless, and/or determinism, the belief that everything will continue as you die (common with depression), both of which are incredibly toxic and harmful mindsets for you and the people around you. There are some things to care for, like spending time with your loved ones, enjoying some good food, the taste of midnight water, etc. It's a weird balance of knowing what to care about and knowing what just isn't worth your time, and that's often a balance that you have to set personally. You go, Shadow. Go piss in a hot topic and put hotsauce on everything. Edit: Wow, I do not agree with old me here. At least minorly. Nihilism is not an inherently bad belief to have, actually. In fact, it's often the first step towards developing more specific ideas about your place in the universe, or even sometimes the last. Absurdism, the belief that it's absurd to even find meaning in an absurd universe, is about existing against the odds, about fighting against an existence that doesn't want you to. Advanced spite, essentially. Existentialism is the belief that you must find your own place in the universe, about finding reasons to live and living for those reasons, be it love, money, work, peeing in a hot topic, whatever. These are not bad beliefs. Hell, I think they're good beliefs. It's when you reach pessimism that it becomes a problem. Pessimism almost always leads towards some form of determinism or doomerism, which often leads towards mental health issues that make it hard to continue living, such as depression. "Not My Problem" mentality here seems to lean more into general nihilism, and stands right on top of that healthy-unhealthy mentality line. I, personally, believe you should care in some semblance. That stuff absolutely _does_ affect your mental state, and keeping yourself hygienic, healthy, and willing to listen is a vastly superior mindset over just not caring. Of course, there are some things you absolutely should just not care about, but it's important to try not to steer towards apathy. It isn't a pretty end.
"Incorrect"? This is 100% accurate
