    I guess, old-school British English also has just the same Æ-sound. I remember it from my first English book, it was 1990 and the book could be already 20-years old back then. :-)

    I am from Germany where Norwegian isn't taught in school, so I have to teach myself.
    I am currently looking for a "tandem Partner" because I don't know anyone who speaks Norwegian, and therefore I can't really communicate in Norwegian :p

    The dutch aa is the same pronounced as æ.
    Dutch poeple say a the same as in norwegian

    I would've just said A is like the vowel in "father" and Æ is like the vowel in "cat". Easy.

    Jeg skal ikke bli slem, men jeg hater når folk utaler æ som ai eller ay og da bruker det i dems navn (for exsempel snæl (di tror det er ‘snail’) men i ektighet er det bare snaerl liksom. Du får lov å fikse mit gramatisk feil vis det er. Jeg er flytende å snakke med ikke så masse å skrive.
