    I have my hot pink Goni as my YT channel icon - it has been doing very well, along with my neon green Goni with very long lashes on each polyp. I think of turbid water as what happens when I fluff my sandbed with a turkey baster - the water gets clouded with all the tiny particles from the sand, which I’m sure must include food sources for both Gonis and also euphyllia. I do this a few times per week and they’ve been thriving! Excellent video - I always wondered both what their growth pattern is, and how to frag them (no plans to do so though 😁). 👍🏻👍🏻

      Thank you for expressing your concern. The situation here for many people and multitudes of wildlife populations is truly devastating and incredibly heart breaking.
      We are incredibly grateful that Brisbane - the city we live in has remained safe from direct fire threat, suffering only on occasion from polluted air. We are in awe of the efforts of all those heroic fire fighters on the front line fighting so hard to protect what they still can, everyone donating whatever they can to help and are trying to remain hopeful for rainfall to provide some much needed reprieve for the areas affected. 🙏🤞

If you are a retailer etc with the appropriate approved accounts you should be able to purchase directly from US wholesalers who import from Australia ie. places in LA like Unique Corals, Sea Dwelling Creatures ... I recently saw for my very first time this sparkling glitter goniopora. I am in the hobby since 2017.
    It seems to be that they don't export quite often to europe?
    How long is this species of goniopora in the hobby?
    Currently there are some frags offered in a dutch webshop for 149€ for round about 15 heads.
    What do you thing, if the corals overprice in the moment and we have to wait? Or will be the price change in future not so much?

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  4 роки тому

      Christian hi, thank you so much for watching and asking these fantastic questions. We have only really ever seen a small handful of pieces come through over the 5 years we have had Gallery Aquatica- and never ever before that (Cam and I both started working in Aquariums since 1998). It takes a keen eye to spot a true glitter and also there are different degrees of glittering within the variant . Importantly , the glittering occurs on both the polyp face AND stems.
      These are SUPER rare. Maybe all in all have only had a handful ever come through, ever. They have never been viable to be sold under three figures here. Conversion to pounds is about double Australian so I do understand $300 a frag is high! You want to ensure you have a stable, well established system or invest that kind of money on cool piece. That is why we are so keen to focus aquaculture and propagation efforts on these kinds of rare colours versus the more commonly found (and cheaper) varieties.

      Dallas Storm hi 👋 thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
      Great question. We haven’t found a need to Frag anemones regularly as thankfully the best looking one we have tends to multiply regularly just from being lovingly cared for 😊
      Have fragged them once for a demonstration and it was a total success; tips include ensuring the knife (cleaver) used was large, sharp; I cut through the mouth (and foot) evenly twice to make four pieces and placed the pieces into iodine dip then our custom made Ricordea “hospitals” onto porcelain tiles.

    I noticed you dip for a really short period of time... I was wondering if this is all its required, coral rx asks for the coral to be dipped 5-10 mins and sometimes pests dont release straight away.... so do you use a higher concentration?
    Also same with iodine dip, seemed like a really short dip, is the concentration high?

      Jestronix Handerson very likely just the twang of the Australian Accent.
      I don’t think it’s wrong whether you pronounce “Go-knee-o-pour-ah” or “Goh- nee- opera”, I think you’ll find people from different parts of the USA and UK will also say it Differently haha.
      English also isn’t my first speaking language so I tend to pronounce some words differently to other Australians, alongside how people living in varying geographical locations of Australia will also possess different accents too.
      Charles Veron likes to include a guide of pronounciation in his Coral Vol 1-3 which is a great guide of where to start.

    Hi from Halifax, Canada Ania. I have a goni question. I am losing polyps on my goni frags, two are completely gone and two other are also dying. I think it is brown jelly that is doing this and it is moving from frag to frag. I have dipped the two currently dying in an iodine bath and twice in a hydrogen peroxide bath. I think I may have stopped it with the last bath which I used a higher concentration than the previous dip. Any tips on beating this once it gets into your system. I assume I picked it up on the first frag that died and since it has moved onto a second and then two others. It only seems to be the goni that is affected. My frag system is 200gal, it is two 80 gal seapora 48*24*16 reef ready tanks and 80 gal aquarium being used as a sump. The system has UV.

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  3 роки тому

      Hi John,
      Thanks for the question and so sorry to hear what you’re going through.
      Those dips would have definitely both been of
      Great Benefit in oxidising and removing necrotic tissue alongside disinfecting to prevent further spread.
      First up, I would also have prioritised the dip. In truth , I have thankfully never had to see or deal with brown jelly disease, but if faced with it I would have done exactly the same thing. Then I be double checking the parameters, prioritising the basics - salt, pH but particularly KH. Sending a sample away for a Triton ICP and NDOC would be really interesting, though the results and analysis may take time to obtain.
      Also, I think back to advice given to me from Goniopora expert Justin Credable who developed TLF Goniopower. He suggested to succeed “Goniopora should be treated like Acropora with long polyps” and also advised if they aren’t opening, even after trying a dip, that they may bounce back from an elevation in KH up to about 1dkH.
      His advice has always worked for me. Let me know what happens with yours!
