It isn't meant to look better. It was made to run better. Personally im skipping this upgrade unless my current ps5 bites the dust. But overall, theres a market for premium consoles.

not being able to play old games from the PS4 and running them at 60fps at higher resolutions is a total sham. At the very least they should be able to do that. But nope.
I agree that if we have only a limited amount of games out there that are using the power of this console, there is a zero shot I will buy it. And i have been buying sony consoles pretty much day 1 since the PS2. Including the PS4 pro, PSP and Vita, as well as PSVR1 and 2.

For real. I think the only PS5 games I play currently are just PS5 versions of PS4 games anyway. Destiny 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, Gran Turismo 7. Yeah I've played stuff like The Last of Us and Horizon but those were one and done. But everyday gaming has still been PS4 titles.

Seems about right to given the hardware improvements. Twice the performance pretty much PS6, now it actually has some appeal to us PC players, which my 4070 Super was $600 by itself. Pricing for the whole system + controller looks like a fair bargain to me. Prices on everything is going up, not a surprise.

I love how games have fallen for all those buzz words. 4k, ray tracing, path tracing. Just give me 1080p with a solid 60 fps, half the games can't even do that anymore

1440p 60 fps should have been the norm this gen, that would be the sweet spot, better than 1080p by a lot but not that different to a 4k...

100%, I would say more than half. Only those A+ game titles from renowned developers can provide 1080p with solid 60 fps but the numbers are low!

No it's just background features. Remember, even the sony guy himself said 75% of players are choosing 60fps over the fidelity mode. So almost everyone is already using 60fps. That's not new. For most of us, its just slightly better graphics in the far background of games where no one is focusing on during gameplay anyway. And ray tracing doesn't add anything significant other than better reflections, again something insignificant, a background feature. Hard pass on Pro.

Useless to be honest, the design barely changed and just better specs and thats it, I personally think the normal PS5 is much better.

The problem is they don't really have any direct competition Nintendo exists but they're kind of in their own lane doing their own thing I don't think a lot of people buying switches necessarily have that as their only system obviously some do but not a lot of them I think it's mostly children and the Xbox isn't selling at all currently this generation the PlayStation has outsold it over two to one so it's just a matter of whether the console market wants to transition to PC but Sony is on their second successful generation when it comes to a sales perspective I'm not saying it's good I'm just saying from a business perspective they are selling very well The PlayStation fandom is very strong

I'm more disappointed with the fact that there was no chasis redesign, more than anything The PC is a much better gaming investment, which does all of this and more, for cheaper in the long run (when you factor in the cost of storage and scalability).

Yea.. I just bought the slim about 2 months ago and I’m happy with it. For 300$ less and a hard drive.
Honestly all they showed is exclusives/story games. I can guarantee multiplayer games will run the exact same(I can 100% promise everyone this)

I’m sorry but $844 with tax (where I’m located) is just comically overpriced. I can’t believe we’re reaching almost $1000 for a gaming console. It’s definitely getting to where a PC is 100% a better and possibly a cheaper option if they don’t lower these console prices.

I think that for me since I got the PS5 slim since 6 months ago. It's not really worth it to buy a new ps5 pro even I or you have the slim version. 240fps is not realistic it’s not even possible without it being even way more expensive
I just wanted 120 fps with super high fidelity, not 60 😭 most games are already at 120 fps, many games are 120 on the regular ps5, this pro console is more for single player games

Well 2026 new gen Xbox and Nintendo comes out already, so now is Sony's final time to try to suck out their gamer's money with PS5 consoles. Im sure if PS6 will ever come out even controller will be sold separatly and the console price will be over 1000$. They locked 60 fps on regular consoles so now they can announce remarkable changes.
No they didn't. We've had 60fps on base PS5 since launch. It's a mode option you can switch to in your PS5 menu. The Sony spokesman even said 75% of current players are already choosing performance (60fps) over fidelity (minor graphic bump and ray tracing). I've been on 60fps since I got my launch day PS5 in 2020.
