Tour of The Shelter Hostel, Eilat, Israel

This hostel was a perfect platform from which to launch my 2020 thru-hike of the Israel National Trail. It is located near the bus station, so you can easily ride a bus from the airport, and then walk to the hostel.
This area of Eilat is bustling with tourism, so you can find anything you need within walking distance. The nearby Ice Mall has everything you could need to gear yourself up for a trek--including a Pelephone booth, which was my cell phone service provider of choice and had great reception in the desert. Rikushet, an outdoor sports store, is also nearby.

in 2011 me, my 16 year old daughter and 15 year old son from Montana USA stayed here for a few days. We got to know the owners and enjoyed fellowship and Bible study with them. The accommodations were above and beyond and they even loaned us some snorkeling gear to snorkel in the red sea. Great memories of our time at the Shelter.

showed up there at 9:27pm on February 11th just got off the plane I didn't have a reservation I was told that I would not be admitted because that's their policy I would need a reservation and this half-witted woman working there a young woman said besides it's almost 10:00 I pulled out my phone and I showed her that is now 9:28 I'm a Christian man from Canada I've I've been going to that hospital for years I have stayed there at least eight times and this is how I was treated this is how I was turned away so this comes as a polite warning if you show up there without a reservation be prepared for a mouthful of Lies it's unfortunate but some people in my faith think that they have a free pass to treat people like this just because they are in Ministry I have known John pecks going back to a 1991 he has a policy of telling his staff to lie to people claiming there is no room that is unacceptable I've seen two young men turned away after walking the Israeli Trail for 2 months and I knew that there was room because I was staying there at the time I later discovered them sleeping over by the Soldier's Monument I don't know how anybody can act like this and still be in Ministry
