10 years ago, Zach finished his thesis film "Blenderstein!" at the School of Visual Arts. This was the very first animated project that Tara and him collaborated on, making it the first unofficial Lopside cartoon. Tara colored BG's, colored animation and also did the voice of the protagonist Sydney. The short was animated in Flash, while the backgrounds were drawn on paper with pencil and colored in Photoshop.
"Sydney is a typical girl with a typical job delivering packages. However, this certain day will be less than typical for her when a demented monkey scientist (Dr. Frappe) and his hunchbacked henchman (Boyle) abduct her. Their plan consists of one brainless monster (Oogle), one blender and poor little Sydney of course!"
The film was featured in the Cartoon Brew online festival (www.cartoonbre... ) and Midsummer Night Toons. It also won two awards at the Dusty's (Best Film and Best Character Design) .

I like how the monkey has a reservoir tip in his tail.
Gotta be safe
Ah, I love that Long Gone Gultch’s artsyle came from this animation that Zach did! It just looks really nice and cartoony to be entertaining. Great job Zach!
Gulch.

This was disturbing... BUT IN A GOOD WAY! Like a really really good way.
It gave me that Ren & Stimpy vibe and I love it!
Honestly I felt the same vibes as well!
It reminded me of Courage the Cowardly Dog
Didn't anyone see who worked on this as assistants? The film has Vivienne Medrano (creator of Helluva boss and Hazbin hotel), Dana Terrace (creator of The Owl house) and Luz Batista (who also works onThe Owl house).
All 3 were freshman when Zach was a senior at college. Its common for underclassmen to help the seniors with small tasks on their final films, to get a feel for things.
Also Nico Colaleo of Ollie and Scoops fame
That’s a lot of 2020s animators lol
For a student film, this has a professional touch to it in every frame. I wish the world gave LGG more attention. It deserves to be a full-fledged show with the proper backing and resources.
Appreciate that! Thank you!
@@lopsideanimation You're very welcome
@@lopsideanimation is that a real song of a custom one for the credit?
Hard to believe this was from 2011. Man you people had some skills back then and you still do now.
Vivienne Medrano and Dana Terrace as assistants.... wow ❤️
Ngl I was not expecting the Monster to be a living smoothie maker. That’s why I’m loving this animation, you take what was to be expected (the doctor and monster turning the girl into the monsters bride) and turn it to the unexpected.
(Also, the cliffhanger where they most likely do the exact same thing to the pizza guy is amazing. Like every time someone comes to the door they have them try a new smoothie right after scaring them to death.)
10 years already; good god we're old.
I’m sensing some huge Courage the Cowardly Dog influences here! Nice work!
it’s nice to finally see more animation from you guys again!
I saw this student film before on a college's website! Was it SVA? Awesome to know this is you guys now!
Yup! SVA has it on their site.
@@lopsideanimation Awesome! I came across it while college-hunting for animation schools.
Can't wait to see more of Lopside's projects and Long Gone Gulch! 👍
This artstyle reminds me of the good 2000s cartoons 😌
That was actually pretty good. You guys did a great job. Kind of felt like one of those 90s test pilots that you would see on something like What A Cartoon or Kablam. Also I hope there will be more future content of LGG.
Dang, Even before long gone gulch you guys were delivering on great animation.
Imagine if this was on Cartoon Network
Courage the cowardy dog
Same art style as Long Gone Gultch, and a equally as good plot. I love it.
This little animation is so awesome and phenomenal, especially since it has the Long Gone Gultch artstyle!
Wait. This was you? I remember watching this when I was a kid and loving it. Glad that you continued your dream
Thank you so much!
I think I remember seeing this way back, but those credits - Dana Terrace and Luz Batista (who now work on The Owl House), Vivienne Medrano (who now has Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss). Some big names there.
I remember watching this when Long Gone Gulch was getting started. Such great work, you guys have always inspired me to pursue an art/animation career myself! 🎃💀👻🤖
Thanks for this treat on an otherwise boring Monday! Love you guys! So delightful and offbeat with an old school flare to it.
This is so creepy yet so well made I love your animations especially how there was such a story with no voice lines at all reminds me of the scene in up when they get married and stuff fantastic animation
I LOVE that opening joke of ordering a bat specifically to knock out the delivery person! Haha! How has no cartoon ever done that before?! That's totally Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny vs. Daffy Duck level comedy!
I I seen this awhile back. Still damn good.
Whoever made this probably watched Courage The Cowardly Dog a lot as a kid
I just wanted to comment again, because this is just something I’d like to say. I’m looking to go into animation, and my dad found this college online that has animation classes. I guess you could say that I’m watching animations like these, just to hype myself for my journey, since I do enjoy animation, moreso 2d animation than 3D. I feel like 2d is more work than with 3D, at least that’s what I’d like to believe haha. I know it’s a long process to fully commit to pursuing a career in 2d animation, but I’m eager to jump in and try it out. Hopefully things go well for me, because I’m gonna be full on going into “animation mode” to get the stuff done!
I love how suspenseful this was, it had me on the edge of my seat not knowing what to expect
I don't know why, but this feels like an episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog this just feels like something Courage the Cowardly Dog with tackle
Ooh remember watching this years ago on I believe Zach's old channel. Love this short animation till today ^^.
I must say, the pacing on this is impeccable!
That pencil-drawn style is so good, it adds to the atmosphere.
I cant belive the danna, luz and vivienne work in this film to OMG!!!!
Love that the Owl House crew is in this
This is a classic. Glad to see it officially uploaded
Honestly getting some major Courage the Cowardly Dog show vibes from this. BUT IT'S FANTASTIC AND STILL SO ORIGINAL!!!
This must be the most disturbing piece of animation I've ever seen...
So, to the people behind this work: You're all really talented!
I remember this!!!
Just in time for spooky season. This is perfection :)
ITS BACK!!!! I remember watching this years ago and haven't been able to find it since im so happy its back on youtube!
The fact that I recognize some of the score as being from a B horror movie from the 50s called The Screaming Skull is surreal for me.
WOW! The style and feel of this animation is wonderful! Great work.
Wow, never expected this. What a treat!
Wow. These credits are full of heavy hitters like Dana Terrace and Luz Batista. Awesome work, everyone!💙💚💙💚
Thesis films are always fun to watch
You are alive. That's amazing
This was such a flavorful animation!! I loved this!! All the spooky vibes were spot on!
I like how the shake changed her hairstyle.
Wow! This looks really cool! A bit of a Frankenstein Vibe going on, I do feel bad for Sydney though. She was only doing her job of delivering that package.🤩😬
Watching you on Christmas day! Andre
i remember seing this in my old days i dont know like 4 or more years i liked it and is good to know that you guys made so what a coincidence hehehe
You can see the resemblance in animation and artstyle in Long Gone Gulch
I really love this
Oh man, I remember this! Can't remember if it was Tumblr or UA-cam. Great to watch it again
Looks like an artistic voice was found 10 years ago already, and a good one too.
Sometimes the best animations are the ones with no words
The sounds are amazing!
Feels awesome to see a cartoon not controlled by corporate board room executives ruining the original creators vision.
Oh yeah, I saw that on Zach's UA-cam channel. Awesome.
This cartoon short film looks like if courage the cowardly dog and Don’t Starve had a baby, I LOVE IT
Wow you guys finally made a new show, well done
Nobody:
Cartoon shows from the 90s to the 2000s: 4:40
That was creepykookycool. The animation style was quite fun and unique.
Glad to see you guys are starting to make animations
I feel like this really captures the disturbing and interesting vibes I would get when watching Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Its always important to look back.
There appears to be some inspiration from Basil Wolverton--Love it!
That’s cool to see the assistants are Dana terrace (owl house) and vivzie (Hazbin/helluva)
4:21 what a shocker
Also this looks like something from courage which is good
This was really fun
Bellissimo is italian , BEAUTIFUL
This reminds me of Courage the Cowardly dog so much and Ed Edd and Eddy too.
I would love to see more stuff in this setting with these characters
very nice work you did back then
Strange, but really well done. Makes me think of Ren and Stimpy.
This is giving me courage the cowardly dog vibes and I love it !
I'm a 10/10 for this one.
They have to be the weirdest customers ever.
That was pretty great!! A bit disturbing but also funny
As always, you guys deliver!
Vivienne Medrano worked on this. She created Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss
Also Dana Terrace... SHE CREATED THE OWL HOUSE!!!
and Luz Batista, who was the inspiration for Luz in Owl House, and is now a storyboard artist on that show. WOW!
I’m already liking it
Wait a minute... Vivienne Medrano help make this too??!! Thats amazing that you both know each other
I don't see why all aspiring animators don't put these videos online.
Mojojojo lookin mighty different after the Power Puff Girl remake…just kidding this was SIIIIICK keep up the great work🤘🏼
Love the animation
This is like Goosebumps esque
Very cool and entertaining animation.
Thanks for this video.
Holy shit the Assistants credits! Dana Terrace and Luz Batista from The Owl House! Vivienne Medrano from Hazbin!
Excelent short film 👍👏✨👏👏✨👏✨
Awesome animation by Zach! 👍🏻👍🏻
Another great animation.
Woah spooky,Right when I subscribed and refound this channel

I’m… goddamn sorry, what were those two names under Assistants?! AND IS THAT “THE” LUZ?!
Yup
I love this short it crazy and amazing art
I was going to give the characters names
The girl-Ashley
The hunchback-Mr.Frank
The monkey scientist-Doctor Stein
But now i have read the description and see the offical names but im not sad or dissapointed at all in the end i find the animation pretty good and simple
Hurray its here
Just in time October is right around the corner
Ah I remember seeing this while ago. Good stuff
