It would be phenomenal to have River back, but unfortunately it's unlikely to happen. When we saw Capaldi and Kingstone in that last episode, it felt very final and like the end of River's story. It would be nice for her to have an appearance, but I don't think hopes should be up. However, having watched Spyfall Part 1 as it aired yesterday, I can say that Chibnall appears to have listened to feedback and improved his writing, so maybe he'll decide to be really nice and give us some River.
I think you forget that river literally had 24 earth years on darillium. She could've slipped off during any of that, stolen the doctor's TARDIS, maybe had a secret vortex manipulator, who knows? And with the fact that time is technically relative, she could've had so many more adventures before her eventual end with Ten. It would be so easy to have her back.
I would love to see Alex Kingston back, unfortunativerely, with her there, it would only show just how just unsuited Jodie is to being the Doctor. They really needed someone with a similar personality and demeanor as River to convincingly play the Doctor. Nothing against Jodie, as she has been fantastic in other roles she's done, but she just does not have the right demeanor that the role of the Doctor requires. A big part of what was wrong with her first series as the Doctor was the writing, true (a lot of times she came across as just another companion on her own show), but a big part of making a role successful is the actor themselves. Peter Capaldi also got stuck with a lot of horrible scripts, but he was able to work with them and still stand out as the Doctor. A big difference between her an Capaldi's scripts though, is that she has been saddled with WAY too many companions, so it makes it harder for her to stick out.
Agreed. I truly enjoy Whittaker in the role. I also enjoyed most of the first series she's in but some of those scripts really needed a polish. I like the daring approach to themes and marrying the old with the new but the overall execution falls flat and that's SO not Whittaker's fault in my opinion. I put the blame at Chibnall's feet. It's his vehicle. He's the captain. She's a focal point and many will wrongly blame her, but the show runner makes final decisions. Whittaker's just the messenger. Her job is to take direction and not to give it. I really enjoy her in the role. I just wish she had more Shakespeare quality writing and less paint by numbers. If it's not on the page it's not on the stage.
It needs to be less POLITICAL literally every episode of the first season she has was political. Not to mention it makes the rosa parks one seem like a joke, when it was an arranged protest, and she wasn’t even the first to do it. The donald trump one didn’t give a valid reason to dislike trump, just shown his babyish attitude and eccentricities. It literally shows that you dont like him because he’s very very bad, and you wont say why he’s bad he just is. The witch episode had SO much potential and SHOULD have brought back the witches from Shakespeares play. But, nooo its a new alien that looks fucking stupid. The alien on the spaceship one again had the chance to be scary similar to the empty child and how claustrophobic you felt in the hospital but instead the baby yoda looking ass was comic relief

At the end of the day, Jodie's Doctor is shaped by Jodie in much the same way as her predecessor's versions were shaped by them. There are basic characteristics to remember, but everything else is up for grabs. And that facility for change and adaptation is what could make this show ultimately timeless.
Amazing interview! No boring or obvious questions, just an interesting conversation and a lot of emotions It's so rare to see actors who are so excited about what they are doing as she is, and it's wonderful I'm really glad they mentioned "adult life skills", because it is one of my favourite movies now and I think it deserves more attention Maybe season 11 of doctor who wasn't really good, but Jodie is definitely The Doctor and I can't wait to see next series

“Everyone I know works hard, there’s a fair bit of luck involved” Thank you for admitting it, she’s talented and works hard for sure, and is also lucky
I'm loving S12 writing, for the most part (some cringe still around). Plus, the casting for the Master was PERFECT. Comparing to Jodie and....he was such a better casting choice for his role than she was for hers. I'm not saying she's a bad actress, just a miscast actress.
Matt Evans She has often showed that she is a good actress, and the writing in S 11 was also good. I think the biggest problem is that they have to many companies. If you have a big cast it’s hard to give everyone a individual personality, but it’s not impossible (for example Star Trek). I was hoping that it may get better in the new Season, but it didn’t, so I am out. I’m waiting for the next season and hopefully it gets better.
Her acting isn't that good as the doctor. I don't think it's even her fault, it's just that it doesn't seem that the doctor is the kind of character she would play that well. Her reaction for gallifrey being destroyed for example.
Matt Evans your brain-dead if you like season 11-12 however yea your right she’s more of an imposter that’s trying way too hard rather than a professional actor
Jodie is an abosolutely fantastic Doctor! Yeah, the writing in S11 could use some improvement, but the characters were wonderful and some of the lines were downright spectacular - here's hoping S12 will shine! (And Jodie as a person is a precious cinammon roll 😊)
Michael McGrath I disagree. She was doing amazingly with the scales of scripts she had. She really shone in It Takes You Away because it was a good written episode to boot
She was a fantastic choice on Chibnall's part (and an obvious one lol). I'm really hoping that S12 will improve on S11's imperfections. So far they've aced the marketing so I have my hopes up.
Yeah. It's why I can't watch Broadchurch anymore after seeing her as the Doctor. (not a knock on the Whittaker, she's amazing in what I've seen her in) It's just her Doctor is so joyous and cheerful, that honestly you don't want to anything to break her hearts. Which given the endings of 9, 10, 11 and especially 12, it would absolutely gut me seeing this Doctor go from optimistic to wrecked.
I don't know which was more confusing, her accent when she started talking fast or the subtitles. :) Seems like such a nice person, I wish they'd get her better scripts on DW.
That was a good one, don’t know about you guys but I would go into series 12 with very very cautious optimism. Everyone’s acting like series 12 is gonna bring doctor who back to it’s former glory. I’m sorry to remind everyone but have you guys forgotten about series 11! Yes, this series might be good but at the same time it might end being just as bad as series 11 or worse.
@@supremewhovian9258 Mediocre, you mean. Which is worse than bad for Doctor Who, we've had bad doctor who, yet we have enjoyed it for how hilarious it was.... Fingers crossed for series 12!
@@stevencassidy6982 I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Maybe the tragedy of Season 11 was enough to shock Chibnall into abandoning his initial plan and fixing the glaring issues. Also, I think he might be writing less episodes this season, so that'll hopefully account for an improvement overall.
What is wrong with everyone in these comments?! She's so lovely, if you don't have something nice to say just don't comment at all. That's kind of what this Doctor era is all about. Everyone seems to be forgetting terrible writing done by /all/ the previous showrunners. For those who want Capaldi back, remember when everyone hated him at first?? Remember when Matt Smith was considered the worst Doctor ever after Tennant's brilliant run? Not to mention how amazing Eccleston was. It always takes time to adjust to someone new.
@Call My Name So what ? Just because she didn't convince you yet doesn't mean she will never. Me on the other hand I didn't like Capaldi during his first series but I really started to like him a lot from series 9. Whittaker was disappointing in series 11, but that doesn't mean it will be the same in series 12

I lived in sheffield for a bit and my half brother has a thick south yorkshire accent so her time as the doctor was great for me. Very nostalgic to hear all those northern accents we dont normally hear over here in the states. I loved the acting in her time as the doctor, i just wish the scripts were better. I feel bad for Jodi because her doctor spent more time being captured and explained to than any other doctor.

I mean, wtf happened from okey season 10 (in term of writing) it goes to shit season 11 (in term of writing). Doctor and his companioins are great doe, I like them
ok how? now I really wanna know how that is possible... like the writing is horrendous (in 11) and the ending of 12 is just outraging tbh, so now I wanna know how that is possible (and all series also means classic btw)

At the end of the day, Jodie's Doctor is shaped by Jodie in much the same way as her predecessor's versions were shaped by them. There are basic characteristics to remember, but everything else is up for grabs. And that facility for change and adaptation is what could make this show ultimately timeless.
JODIE IS MY DOCTOR! 👏 SHE’S INCREDIBLE!!
Amazing interview! No boring or obvious questions, just an interesting conversation and a lot of emotions
It's so rare to see actors who are so excited about what they are doing as she is, and it's wonderful
I'm really glad they mentioned "adult life skills", because it is one of my favourite movies now and I think it deserves more attention
Maybe season 11 of doctor who wasn't really good, but Jodie is definitely The Doctor and I can't wait to see next series
Shittaker is definitely NOT the Doctor dipshit!
@@MichaelM28 the fact that you don't like something doesn't give you the right to insult people who are doing it
Every single video makes me like her more as a person and as an actor she is a great person to be the doctor
Correction dipshit: as a pathetic excuse for an actor she's a terrible person to be the Doctor!
Opposite for me and every other real fan
@@MichaelM28 I have watched the show since I was 5, I have one of the largest collections of doctor who media and memorabilia from the classic and rebooted series and have met 5 of the doctors so dont tell me I am not an actual fan. And it is such a shame that a fantastic fandom filled with brilliant people is slightly tainted by having an aggressive, rude and ignorant person like you in it who has nothing better to do than insult people over youtube about something peoppe really care about and love.
Apart from when she tells long-term, traditional fans, "Good riddance".
“Everyone I know works hard, there’s a fair bit of luck involved” Thank you for admitting it, she’s talented and works hard for sure, and is also lucky
Its such a shame, shes clearly so passionate about the role, if only Chibnal's writing wasnt so bad.
One of her best interviews.
Jodie, Peter and David are my fav Doctors however I miss Missy so much!
Then you're not a real Doctor Who fan dipshit
The worst Doctor and the most overrated Doctor are your favourites? You need help
Michael McGrath I’ve been watching Doctor Who since the 70s buddy.
Your negativity is not needed and you my friend are not a true Whovian
i must be blind and deaf.. jodie witake bet interview
A VERY talented actress. I hope to see much more of her work in the future.
I wish people would stop blaming how terrible the series is on her. She has nothing to do with it. It's Chibnall. He's not a science fiction writer
Soffie Kim no it wasn’t
This video was SO well edited! Also Jodie at the end AAAAAAAAH she’s so cute
1:50 I thought she said all the lines are shite xD
She was probably thinking it anyway. We all were.
Jodie is an amazing actress. I just wish the writers would get their shit together.
Man it genuinely hurts to dislike this show so much in its current state.
Thanks to this comment, I just discovered your amazing channel. Also I agree- feels like the heart has been sucked out of it.
Jodie is + & radiant energy. She is amazing as an actress & multi-talented with the titles she had worked on. And incredible as Doctor Who 😊🎉🎉
LMFAO. She's a terrible actress and absolutely atrocious as the Doctor dipshit
Found the leftist soy-boy
She is amazing! I hope the next series does her good because she is a very inspirational person with a good heart in and out of character.
Apart from when she tells long-term, traditional fans, "Good riddance".
LMFAO
Love Jodie. She is quickly becoming my favourite Doctor
The love between the members of the cast really comes across ♥️♥️♥️♥️🤘🏽🤘🏽
Jodie is an abosolutely fantastic Doctor! Yeah, the writing in S11 could use some improvement, but the characters were wonderful and some of the lines were downright spectacular - here's hoping S12 will shine!
(And Jodie as a person is a precious cinammon roll 😊)
Correction dipshit: Jodie is an absolutely terrible excuse for the Doctor!
The characters in series 11 were anything BUT wonderful, except Graham
Michael McGrath I disagree. She was doing amazingly with the scales of scripts she had. She really shone in It Takes You Away because it was a good written episode to boot
Lightwood Studios don’t feed the troll.
She was a fantastic choice on Chibnall's part (and an obvious one lol). I'm really hoping that S12 will improve on S11's imperfections. So far they've aced the marketing so I have my hopes up.
She’s such a cutie lil cinnamon roll (◕‿◕✿)
UtopianPhantom smahs
Yeah. It's why I can't watch Broadchurch anymore after seeing her as the Doctor. (not a knock on the Whittaker, she's amazing in what I've seen her in) It's just her Doctor is so joyous and cheerful, that honestly you don't want to anything to break her hearts. Which given the endings of 9, 10, 11 and especially 12, it would absolutely gut me seeing this Doctor go from optimistic to wrecked.
sh is such a fking loser actress that never should have got the roll, you misspelled
this chick is the type of person that want rose ticko to get a solo series lol
GhostDcuo she* fucking* role* . Yeah. Totally. I “misspelled.”
I love Jodie Whittaker. She looks and sounds so funny and friendly. And She is so adorable
If she came to my school, I’d be going SOOOOOOO insane!
Season 11 made me like doctor who much more then I did before
She's soooo adorable!! 😭😭😭
I don't know which was more confusing, her accent when she started talking fast or the subtitles. :) Seems like such a nice person, I wish they'd get her better scripts on DW.
God help you if she decides to do Big Finish.
her energy is just incredible!
“Mandip and tosin are wonderful”
cuts to them flossing
Her excitement for everything is my favorite
She’s so wise omg I would do anything to sit down and chat to her 😢😢😢😢
cyberman dalek well, don’t let us detain you.
"I HAVE AN ABILITY TO DISREGARD AND CHUCK" - its funny because that's exactly what Chris Chibnole says when he writes the show...
Ouch. Even a Dalek would feel that burn.
@@supremewhovian9258
Mediocre, you mean. Which is worse than bad for Doctor Who, we've had bad doctor who, yet we have enjoyed it for how hilarious it was.... Fingers crossed for series 12!
PikaCinema you don’t know that!
@@supremewhovian9258 Oh my sweet summer child...
I love her so much, I hope so hard that this season is good ❤️❤️❤️
It won't be
Me too, fingers crossed🤞:D
@@stevencassidy6982 I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Maybe the tragedy of Season 11 was enough to shock Chibnall into abandoning his initial plan and fixing the glaring issues. Also, I think he might be writing less episodes this season, so that'll hopefully account for an improvement overall.
@@thysens If it is, and if he does, he's a faster learner than Moffat.
last season was garbage, why you think this will be better dial a soviet?
The new episodes were so good!! I'm very excited for this new season. I love 13 and i love Yaz too
I LOVE HER AND HER DOCTOR WITH EVERY FIBRE OF MY BEING 💖💖💖💖💖
What is wrong with everyone in these comments?!
Love her as an actress..just not in this role.
👏
They are casual fans...they complain when the sun comes out because "it's too hot". People today complain about everything.
LMFAO "if you don't have something nice to say just don't comment at all" Typical soy-boy leftist censorship
3:36 FYI guys Wayne Yip directed Resolution, Spyfall Part 1 was directed by Jamie Magnus Stone 🤷♀️
I really hope Doctor Who gets better writers
I'm not a fan of Doctor Who Series 11 or the Thirteenth Doctor (at least so far) but I love listening to Jodie in interviews and this was probably one of her best.
Last season's writing was not great, hopefully they pull it back
fattysl26 Not great? it was horrible. If they can somewhat bring back that Doctor Who-Sci-Fi feel then I guess they’re on the right tracks.
'Don't be cruel. Don't be cowardly' - I think Capaldi's Doctor said it best.
I want all the companions to go and focus the show more on HER, The Doctor.
Arian Rahman yessssss there’s too many of them and it takes the attention away from her!
Theres a reason why Haven Sent is one of the most well regarded Moffat episodes
@@sernoddicusthegallant6986not because a companion was there

Love the way she speaks about John Boyega 😊
I lived in sheffield for a bit and my half brother has a thick south yorkshire accent so her time as the doctor was great for me. Very nostalgic to hear all those northern accents we dont normally hear over here in the states. I loved the acting in her time as the doctor, i just wish the scripts were better. I feel bad for Jodi because her doctor spent more time being captured and explained to than any other doctor.
as bad the series of Jodie Whittaker's was from story and script wise, Jodie Whittaker doctor is one of my favorites she is awesome kind cute and I love her. To me she was the only enjoyable thing in the series but i had good time thank you Jodie Whittaker.
What a great interview!
Oh she's so cute! Love her so much!
The master is back
Love the Master, he's such a joy to watch.
My favourite reality show.
She is 100% my Doctor ❤
she is an amazing person
Ive literally been crying for like an hour about how much i love her I can’t do this right now
Adult life skills is my favourite film highly recommend
Awwwww she’s so nice
I love Jodie's energy. She seems to be such a warm and genuine Person 💛
She’s a great actor, but oh my god the writing has gone downhill
BUMP!
BUMP!
Have to agree.
I mean, wtf happened from okey season 10 (in term of writing) it goes to shit season 11 (in term of writing). Doctor and his companioins are great doe, I like them
I disagree
I have watched every doctor who series my favourite one is the thirteenth doctor
ok how? now I really wanna know how that is possible... like the writing is horrendous (in 11) and the ending of 12 is just outraging tbh, so now I wanna know how that is possible (and all series also means classic btw)
Oh my god I need her to come to Australia!!! 😂
I hope the next season brings out the best in all the characters, making them more unique and developed 🙂 and the actors themselves
The first episode of the season looks good
Imho, a show, movie or play will only ever be as good or as bad as the writing, no matter who the actors are.
Haha! I love how she seamlessly shifts into proper Broad Yorkshire at 2:53. Nice one Jodie.
I love adult life skills so much it's an awesome film!
As a non doctor who fan I found the new series mostly entertaining.
Then you're an idiot
Glad you enjoyed it! You should give some other series a watch. They're really good!
@@MichaelM28 shut the fuck up
@@damppuddle7341 which one is the most scariest
@@username20131 I'd say one of the scariest Doctor Who episodes is one in Series 4 called "Midnight".
I remember actually crying with the reveal back in '17.
For good reasons or bad? LOL
Not related to the video but early on in Jodie's time as doctor yaz says she wants more of the universe.
Azure later refers to the doctor as the universe.
It's Also brilliant cos yaz says:
" I want more. More of the universe. More time with you"
So if you go along with what Azure said, yaz technically said "I want more. More of you, more time with you"
So gay
I like Jodie Whittaker but Chris Chibnall is nob cheese. Whittaker's acting can be a bit iffy but I that may be more Chibnall's fault. Dunno tho
i agree i dont like her acting
watch some of her other stuff, its definately not her fault lol
im crying i love her
I came back to find this interview after the Sea Devils trailer because SHE GETS TO DO SLOTHS SWING!!!
If I saw Jodie I think I would die or be like OMG
