Been into retro gaming a while and this is the first time I've seen most of these hacks. Will check them out (Maybe not sonic 6) Fantastic vid and list! (Also like the Christmas jingle intro)
Another enjoyable upload. On the theme of romhax, have you experimented with msu1 audio yet? Something I keep meaning to try but never seem to get the time to commit to it. (even though I'm sure it takes minutes) Looking forward to more content in the future! Merry Xmas!
I wasn't keen on rom hacks because largely some of them are quite naff, but the good ones have improvements like bug fixes, SNES sa1 hacks for SD2SNES, translated SFC games are worth checking out. Some cancelled games in development have been hacked to be made playable, and Resi Evil 1.5 for the PS1 was one of them and there is some versions of RE Director's Cut.
I was sure i would have found here 2 prominent 2022 hacks: sonic classic heroes and doom32x resurrection. Great hacks! and sf2 remaster for the genesis
Cool video! I'd be interested in more rom hack content. One technical thing for the video I would suggest is rendering the video at 60 frames a second though. At first I thought a lot of those ROM hacks had really weird stutter issues but looking at the UA-cam stats I saw the video was at 4K 30 frames a second. I guess for demonstrating old games using a 60 frame per second container makes more sense since plenty of them reach 60 frames a second
Thanks. I think that’s a fine observation. Sonic on Master System does have significant slowdown, but Pac-Man on Atari would have definitely benefited from 60fps presentation. I’ve avoided it in the past as UA-cam used to take several hours to process 4K videos, this has been adjusted in recent weeks to remux the content (as long as it is appropriately encoded). This opens the door to 60fps 4K for me without staring down the barrel of 5-6hr processing. I’ll try it out with my next upload and see how it works out. Thanks again for the suggestion! 🖖
@@NewRetroAdventures Right makes sense on the processing time thing, though I guess for presenting retro games 1080p60 might be a better container than 4k30 if one is trying to optimize for that. Though 1080p isn't an integer multiple of as many classic resolutions but there's tricks for that with interpolation and whatnot.
5:40 sorry i can't agree with this one yhere are far better hack out there This is some basix sprite palette and track layout edit trust me I'm into smk modding and i can tell there are a hack called super mario kart deluxe that is going to blow smk modding in general

Great video as always. I'm a big fan of Hyper Street Kart.
Thanks mate. Yeah it’s awesome. I need to sit down one day and finally conquer SMK 😆
You need to give Pokemon Fire Red Rocket Edition for the GameBoy Advanced a try. It's a great example of what is possible with Rom hacks.
I’ll check it out, thanks
