Perhaps the goal is to attempt to practice detachment of this earthly realm which is in constant turmoil with the inner spiritual life, the love of neighbor and the love of God. Great sermon!
Very very well said and spot on!!! I felt like I needed to take care of myself more because I was going through a tough time mentally. And when I started digging into self-love and self-care I later felt there's something wrong with how it's being presented and it's sad how everyone's being driven down that path also due to social media. This mentality is on the rise, and music really affects it.
Absolutely spot on.l fully understand what Fr. Mark is saying. This message comes from a fully involved church warden & alter server from Holy Trinity church,Burslem, England.
Wow I hate Flowers. Miley’s voice sounds like tires screeching and the message is worse. When people have a lifetime of broken relationships and friendships, they really should make changes within themselves instead of blaming others and self isolating. Our culture lies when it says focusing on oneself makes you happy. The opposite is actually true. The more self centered someone is the more unhappy they become. They lose more and more friends the more selfish they become. It does become an endless loop. I have also noticed that selfish people don’t have peace within themselves. I always thought that deep down they know that it is their own fault that their friends and family have left them. But they don’t want to admit that so they focus even more on themselves. Or they are not ready to change.
