It is really sad that Mariska Veres died so young. Only 59. RIP.
Wouldn't a time machine be great. You could go back and appreciate the things you just took for granted when you were younger.
More and more every day !!
Thanks to these brave artists, and the creators of UA-cam, we need a Time Machine.
Mariska sadly died aged just 59 in 2006 of cancer, may she RIP.
Like Bob Seger said, "today's music ain't got the same soul". I had the privilege of growing up with the best music ever made. 60s and 70s
True
Fake Comment!
The soul is gone.
Born in ‘99 here. Can agree to an extent. I find myself feeling older music significantly more. Your generation absolutely KILLED it in the music industry.
Mariska had magical eyes. And now they're gone, may she rest in peace..!!!
Those crystal eyes were her weapon.
The most enigmatic and beautiful woman who was ever born.
Wow is Jimmy Seville even here in the United States I know who that pervert is
2:43 i dont know why i find her super attractive in those movements, like she is already attractive
💎💛🌹🎈🛸✨
With only 2 guitars, they made a very rich sound together....Well done....Great song that has stood the test of time....
Not quite. There is a lot more than just 2 guitars going on. No one mentions the Wurlitzer because you don't see the guy playing it. But, it's a huge part of the song. There is an acoustic rhythm guitar track, a electric rhythm guitar track. Everything was pre recorded tracks. If you look closely you can see there isn't even any cables plugged into the guitars.
@@chrisgodlaproductions3106- it sounds very, very close to the original backing track on the single. Maybe a slightly different mix for live use.
@@chrisgodlaproductions3106 yeah it's fuckin me up I'm just tryna find a vid of the guy playing keys
I hear a keybord in there.

I remember those days well
Sexy doesn't have to be naked, Great vocal no auto tune, LIVE like a rockstar, LEGEND!!!
She was one sexy MaMa!!!!!!
she was singin' it live Bro :)
Very Good Legend.!!!!!!! ❤

As a Dutchie couldn’t be more proud
Her vocals are absolutely LIVE!! If you can't tell, then play the studio version side by side. Completely different. Vote thumbs up if you agree she is singing Live,
Vocals live, music is the original studio recording.
And she sounds excellent here!
I totaly agree, I was so disapointed to see so many play back videos. She was definitively capable to do great live performances and she seems so much happier singing live. I don't get why there isn't more around there. The music still sounds very studio to me that's kinda sad.
Finally, i found this video with her really live voice and yeah especially good! 👍❤️
JohnS - Not the studio version, but pre-recorded vocals here anyway... It was common practice back then...
53 years later & still sounds beautiful 🎉
Who? Jimmy Savile?
It will ALWAYS sounds beautiful
RIP Mariska...your voice will always be here...
It’s popular Song during 70’s in the Philippines 🎶🇵🇭
This song never gets old..
Venus is one of the greatest pop songs over the past 60 years!
I remember when I first heard this song... its irresistible beat and catchy lyrics immediately grabbed me and never let go. That was 50-years ago, and it never fails, it was that good!!
I got the 45 when it came out in '69. (I was 11.) It really was a very catchy song, and still is. Great pop/rock tune and, dare I say, a classic. Wish they still made 'em like this!
She passed away
I was 16 and those were the days of an explosion of new music on the scene. The generation of music, love poetry and the flower children.🌻 😍
Wow ❤️ .. I love this song
Reading your memories of first hearing this song, immediately after seeing Jimmy Saville opening this video has me laughing my ass off. 😄
Shokig Blue mis felicitaciones me gusta mucho su música saludos.
It’s extremely rare that we see a gigantic hit played live.
She is fire!!! Those eyes will melt your f***ing soul.
One of the best songs of that time. I loved the guitar riffs and the beat. Very catchy.
You mean the best song of all time!
@@alanhodges8839 Its an awesome song yes, but ist this really your favourite song of all time up to 2023?
Bananarama does a version of this song. Not bad.
INterestingly - check out the B side of this 45 rpm classic. They had a song called "Hot Sands"....it rocks and some might say it's actually better...
53 years later don't get tired of hearing it that's when you now it's a great song
This song is joyfull ❤
I really dig Mariska's eyes, the solid bass line, and the Dutch mullets on the drummer and lead player. You gotta love the early 70's.
The early 70's was, to me, one of the coolest eras for music. So much creativity!
Eu amo! Foi minha adolescência! Muitas saudades das canções daquela época ( 1966 a 1980 ) .
Mariska died way too soon. RIP Mariska.
1970 still belonged to the sixties. There's no such year zero. Your first year on earth was not your zeroth year on earth. Besides, this song was issued in 1969.
Correct. It was released in1969.
You can also hear her accent in this live version

Fantastic track 53 years later. And she is singing live
Yes - and isn't her vocal great
In 1970 I was 16 and sooo in love with Mariska.... there always was some magical/mystical aura around her and I was crazy about that Mona Lisa-kinda smile she had. Passed away much to early. Rest in peace Mariska.
Incredibly great video.
Mariska was my infatuation, her beauty captivated me and such a beautiful voice What a tragic loss RIPMs Veres
The vocal was definitely live and perfect. She nailed it❤
The original and best Venus. They can make technology better and sounds better, but they can't make better talent than this.
Can't take my eyes off Mariska ! Such a natural beauty with a godsent voice. No auto-tune or overdubs needed here.
Quels sons, quelle voix !
Mejores dias, amiga. Por lo menos quedan nuestras memorias.
Rest in Peace Mariska 💗
Those who are signing, playing and dancing look much more cool than today’s youth
This song never gets old. So good! It’s still got it!
I remember when I first heard this very captivating song, I was as young and fresh as this singer. And now I'm 66. ... I remember that our school ensemble also played this song beautifully. I'm kidding, of course. How to say "laughter through tears." Thanks Mariska.
These artists had real talent. There were no computers to auto tune your voice or clean it up. There was no play back on these shows playing a recording. They played live.
Mariska's so beautiful and talented. ROCKON FOREVER!
My first favorite song! They are great live! Real music ❤
This was originally broadcast in colour early 1970.
My first love, I was 15. She froze me in my tracks. Scoured tv music shows for months hoping to see this again ( no mtv etc) Drove me nuts. The camera man nailed it.
Oh wow! So recognizable! For me it was her voice in combination with the way she looked at the world. That nothing can faze me look. Made me melt. (I was 12 then).
This was my Sister's first " 45" in 1970!
God what wonderful memories this song brings back. This was one of the first songs I played as a VERY young (15) year old guitarist in 1970. I'm still playing professionally 53 years later. I miss those days of being young and carefree.
The good old days of analog. Cool song! Foxy Lady was the one that blew me away and got me started playing.
I never knew wireless existed back then. ;-] @@theonemodifier

This Song Came out when I was a Youngster . And I Learned to dance from this. It's Crazy that psychedelic dancing that Everyone was doing on Laugh In And here on a video. No one actually taught me to dance . But after listening and seeing this band on the Television.
This song made me a dancing fool>
What a FANTASTIC group
She was absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful song feeling 70 years younger listening to songs
What a beautiful voice. She passed away I think in 2006. Rip
THE VERY BEST RECORDING OF VENUS-SHOCKING BLUE YOU DID IT RIGHT
Always loved this song, but never realized how gorgeous she was.
me too what a beauty
A friend of mine played this on a Craig tape player on the school bus on the way to school every school day for the whole school year. Not just once , but several times each morning. He did interrupt it with some Jackson 5. I have never tired of this song. One of my all time favorites. Ahhhh, the memories of my youth when this came out.
Q saudade do meu passado. O presente é só desgraças.
Imagine this video in color ✌😍
Tears in my eyes. I am from the same city. Mariska had no star ego. Such a gentle sweet woman with an unique voice. Check their albums and find many truly amazing songs. So sad she passed away. And so for Klaasje (bass), Henk (drums). RIP.
Young Nigel Tufnel on the guitar really bringing this one along.
Great song and damn she was gorgeous!
Thanks for the post. Great song!!
Truly the summit of beauty and love...miss you Mariska !!!
Just ANOTHER great Rock and Roll song from 1970....Great music
She is so beautiful to me,reminds me of a girl I seen for a month or so when I was 17 and she was 21,made out a few times but unfortunately I was the temporary replacement until her BF got out of jail.
He was a nice enough guy and was in jail for mild drugs.I always felt like a third wheel so I just bowed out and never came back.
That’s how life goes sometimes hah
Summertime 1969 ... wow...what a time...what a time to be a freshman in high school...the world was absolutely insane...Viet Nam...cities burning...Native Americans protesting...long hairs...the time they were a changin'...anyone remember the "Generation Gap"???
She definitely has the charisma and the look not to mention a very distinctive and stunning voice really and the guitar and bass player also good presence and flawless playing. It’s a shame they didn’t have a few more big hits like this magical number. The best definitely goes on with this timeless classic.
They were plagiarised by Kraftwerk and covered by Nirvana, one of the most influential bands nobody has heard of,Mariska is absolutely stunning as well
Couldn't agree more. She was fantastic. The 60's were just a fabulous time for music. So many different sounds and bands. Back in a time when you had to actually have musical talent to get a No. 1 hit on the charts. Worlds away from the music industry today.
'Long and Lonesome Road', 'Send Me a Postcard'...and just as good of songs.
The BBC have a tremendous treasure trove of classics like this, all performed in a weekly show and we, as teenagers took all this for granted. Even putting aside the Jimmy Saville bit for a moment, it shows how much the BBC has fallen.
Watching 'Top of the Pops' was a bit of a regular thing, but, as you say, I never appreciated how awesome so many of the bands were, that I was seeing. It's like that time, long ago, when 'we' hired a band for some live entertainment to kick off the after-dinner disco at Uni - they weren't bad, odd name though, they were called 'Queen'.
My how music has changed. Love the old stuff!

This is music! No autotune or remixes here. Just talent ✨

Thank you for the time warp, back into time, back when we had and played real moving music.....Bummmmmmm, having to come back to reality..............JB.
In my opinion Venus is the most beautiful rock song I've ever heard. I still listen to it after more than 50 years... when I'm a little sad I listen to it and it cheers me up..
Mariska única..
Desde Guayaquil-Ecuador!!
This video is just a classic. It's like looking into a time capsule back to the late 60's , early 70.s. Love the hairstyles and the clothes from all the kool kids back then. The bell bottom pants, big hoop earrings, fat belts, those 60's mini-skirts and so on. The girls in back on the stage, all getting their groove on. If I could just fix my flux capacitor, I could get my DeLorean started and get there to join the party !
This was so far ahead of its time it's unreal.
There are songs that never die or go old. This is one of the few.
December 2022, 1st time I saw her on video/ tv, after 50 or so years of hearing the song🥰
*1969-1970 ..... **_Oh, the memories!!_*

A Goddess on a mountain top
Was burning like a silver flame
The summit of beauty and love
And Venus was her name
She's got it Yeah, baby,
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire, at your desire
Her weapons were
Her crystal eyes
Making every man mad
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no-one else had
Wow!
I'm your fire, at your desire
