Any era where Gintama was being serialized is the best, but I will say one of my favourite shonens is in that current era rn, which is Undead Unluck, and it's pretty cool to see Johnny on here but don't necessarily agree so I'll say the 2000's is the best then current then 2010's then the 90's and so on 😅
More bad anime has come out of the 2010s and 2020s than any other period. The amount of shit battle harems and isekai is overwhelming. Most of the best anime in the 2000s were Seinen, not shonen. Two of the Big Three and Hunter Hunter are 90s manga. Cowboy Bebop, berserk, Mobile Suit Gundam, Macross, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Dragon Ball, Kenshin, Yuyu Hakusho, Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Lupin the Third, Trigon, and the majority of the best Studio Ghibli films were all pre 2000s anime/manga.
