One trick that helps in India is to use noise canceling EarPods. It will still allow you to hear but numb the high frequency horns which are a major cause of auditory loss. Prolonged exposure to high frequency horns can cause permanent ear damage and other chronic ailments.

hmm, never ever met an Indian with hearing loss. We must have developed some biological filters to filter out the high frequencies.

Julie, be very careful and always be aware of your surroundings. There are shady characters in the streets, looking at you. Don’t be complacent, you too Daniel. Keep your backpack in the front of you…not behind. Protect Julia and keep her in front of you when it’s very congested.
Also, when crossing the streets, walk along the direction of traffic to cross…it’ll be safer. Watch around you that nobody is following you to your hotel.

You will see Muslim Islamic influence all around you in the north. In architecture, food, music. They ruled the northern part of the Subcontinent for more than 500 years, under very different Islamic dynasties from Persia, central Asia etc. They made that part of the Subcontinent one of the richest during the 17th century during the Mughal times. If you travel to Dravida south, it is unique till the Brits annexed it to crate the Union of India. They have a unique civiliastion, language, arts, music, dance, food and architecture but only common thread is Hinduism. Enjoy the Subcontinent, The Union of India.

You been to Sri Lanka so this is easy. If you have eaten Tamil food in Sri Lanka that is what you get in the Dravida South of the Subcontinent, little spicer than of majority Sinhala food. In fact they both belongs to two different ethnic and language groups. Sadly they had troubles as you all know.

India, akin to Greece and China, is often regarded as a civilizational state. Over its extensive history, India has witnessed the rise of various empires, including the Maurya Empire, founded 2350 years ago, which marked the first unification of India, stretching from parts of Iran to the borders of Myanmar and Tibet. India's cultural influence extends across a vast region, reaching from Sri Lanka to Southeast Asia. Ancient epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana have delineated numerous key cities in the Indian subcontinent, establishing connections between India and regions as distant as Iran, Afghanistan, and Southeast Asia. This exemplifies a cohesive and enduring cultural entity. Much like the Greeks, who had distinct kingdoms like Athens, Sparta, and Thebes, all unified under Greek identity, India has also seen periods of unified empires in its history, alongside independent kingdoms that remained culturally connected. Indian civilization predates Islam by twice its age, and the majority of Indian cuisine predates the foundation of Islam. Hindu architecture is more prevalent in India than Islamic architecture, with most of Rajasthan's architectural marvels being creations of Hindu kings. Islamic architecture is predominantly found in regions like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, while South India and other parts of the country showcase a wealth of Hindu architectural heritage. In the present day, India has evolved into a nation-state, similar to the United States of America. The rich tapestry of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain architecture in India spans the past 5000 years, exemplified by: Phugtal Monastery Ajanta and Ellora Caves Khajuraho temples Mahabodhi Temple Key Monastery Tawang Monastery Badami Caves Konark Sun Temple Bhimbetka Rock Shelters Thikse Monastery Rani Ki Vav Nalanda University Basgo Monastery Unakoti Barabar Caves Kedarnath Temple Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Karnala Fort Kedarnath Temple Hampi Sanchi Stupa Dholavira Rakhigarhi Mehrangarh Fort Gwalior Fort Amber Fort Lothal Meenakshi Temple Brihadeeswarar Temple Maluti Temples Mahabalipuram

Yes, different eye colors, skin colors, statures, jaw structures, they all due to migration to that area for millions of years from the Near East, Central European and Central Asian stepps, Hellenic nations, Persians etc. Only Dravida nations can be called the Adi Vasins or the first inhabitants. Yes their language is unrelated and unique too. Cheers.

@@timetoreason7090 Dravidians originated from Iran (proto-Iranian farmers), and there are similarities between Old Tamil and Sumerian.
Akam (Tamil) - Ekim (Sumerian): "Inside" or "interior"
Muruku (Tamil) - Muru (Sumerian): "To be abundant" or "plenty"
Ur (Tamil) - Ur (Sumerian): "City" or "town"

Mulai (Tamil) - Mulu (Sumerian): "Breast" or "chest"
Kaasu (Tamil) - Ka (Sumerian): "Silver" or "money"
All Indians have mixed origins. The only Indians who belong to purebred tribes are found in the Andaman Islands. Most Indians, except for some in the far northeastern states, have mixed with both ANI (Ancestral North Indian) and ASI (Ancestral South Indian) groups. Additionally, there was migration from India to Siberia through Europe approximately 55,000 to 45,000 years ago.

If you're still in India, you should check out the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. They have beautiful clear blue-water beaches like Radhanagar Beach, Roses and Smith Island Beach, and Elephant Beach. Radhanagar Beach is even considered one of the top ten beaches in Asia. Andaman is less crowded and less polluted than mainland India, making it a peaceful choice. Also, make sure to visit Meghalaya, Sikkim, Kerala, and Ladakh. Ladakh has stunning landscapes, Buddhist monasteries, and the highest motorable road. Meghalaya has impressive waterfalls, caves, and natural wonders. Sikkim has high-altitude lakes and snow-covered mountains, great for hiking. Kerala has charming hill stations and unique houseboat trips on backwaters. These places are not only beautiful but generally safer compared to many other parts of India. You can see how amazing they are by searching online.

You're absolutely wasting your time by traveling to these places in India. It's not entirely your fault; the Indian Tourism Ministry is probably the most useless organization in the country. They never bother to promote the amazing places India has to offer. If you ever decide to come to India again, do yourself a favor and avoid the Indian cities. Instead, head to the Indian villages, the Himalayan valleys, and the Indian islands like Lakshadweep Islands and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Explore historical sites like Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Key Monastery, Badami Caves, Phugtal Monastery, Kedarnath Temple, Mahabalipuram, Meenakshi Temple, and the Khajuraho temples.
Or if you prefer beautiful landscapes, consider Ladakh, Zanskar, Parvati Valley, Spiti Valley, Tirthan Valley, Kalpa, Jibhi, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Betaab Valley, Patnitop, Aru Valley, Yusmarg, Ziro Valley, Tawang, Kuttanad, Meghalaya, and Sikkim. There are plenty more incredible places to explore, but if you're seeking to experience the stereotypical version of "Slumdog Millionaire," then these cities are your best bet.
