General audience needs to understand...what makes gundam great is not about the dueling action of giant robots... Its about the humans character's drama, stories and politics.the heroes goals and dreams and the Villain's plans and purpose. There is no good guy vs bad guys. 2 different factions collides to achieve their goals. If he dumbs down gundam. The purist eill hate it. If he makes it more on the human stories will have mix reactions... Its has to be just right. Gundam stories cant be told in a 2hours movie at least have do 3 movies .. The first is world buildings & characters... The 2nd movie politic.. strategy, fights . 3rd movie...closure final battle. Also to me gundam must not have a happy ending... Must be bittersweet.

I suppose if the guy is a fan of Gundam and had a bit of history with it, the movie would be in good hands. Then again, Paul W.S. Anderson apparently said he was a fan of Monster Hunter and hardly anyone in the MH community spoke praises of the movie even after it came out. Best case scenario, the lowest this movie could go would be in the “some people may genuinely like it and but everyone else is gonna roast it” range.

I don't understand how a franchise like this failed so hard in the West....Its stories are well written and its serious tones are phenomenal.
It's because how people see animations when Gundam was brought, even most of otakus still "yikes Mecha Anime" beside most of them loves Code Geass... When I watch code geass the only thing that came to my mind was "what if Amuro and Char were childhood friends and had magic in they world"
Most Western fans only know, and like Gundam wing, and some really don't like the original Mobile Suit Gundam because of how whiny Amuro the equivalent of Luke Skywalker is.
@@myujokt733 Yup, Gundam Wing was a success in the West but unfortunately doesn't go as far back as the originals. Wing was a great entry point into Gundam like WFM today but their stories pale from other better series despite their success.
I'm glad he's an actual fan instead of going Michael bay with the transformers and going "I can do better" and proceeding to to make 5 dumpster fires of movies with characters and a plot that barely resembled the source material
They may of been dumpster fires but they made their money back enough to do 5 movies so something was working
@@inuclearpickle8628 it was the action which was pretty cool but it's not really transformers when optimus prime is a cold blooded killer who doesn't feal any remorse or guilt
@@theodoredexter6540 honestly I don’t really know the source material but the movie were pretty bad from characters to the distracting advertisements.
@@inuclearpickle8628 if you are unfamiliar with transformers outside of the movies, i personally recommend you read transformer: stand of the wreckers! it isn't perfect but it is a beloved tf comic and its only like 5 or 6 issues, so its a quick read. phenomenal writing, great characters, lots of action and lovely artwork. it's simple enough where it requires basically no context going in.
@@theodoredexter6540 But it's coming to wokeflix - i.e. I'm surprised anyone is delusional enough to get their hopes up considering their track record with butchering anime properties.
Jordan, l don’t know if you’ll read this but l met Gundam in 93 working in Japan and it blew up my mind, and now you’re leading a team to make our dreams come true.
As a fan, l know you gonna give your best, then don’t let others mess with us the fans!
Hugs from Brazil!
I cannot wait to see live action white base and char on the big screen, this man seems to respect the series so I am confident he will create something fantastic.
That would be cool af. I wonder who would play Char. It could be anybody honestly but someone good lol. He's a cool fucking character.
Seeing his old kits, all from from the beginnings of the GUNDAM boom in the US. I see you're one of us. I look forward to what you bring to the table. Stay true and don't falter. This means a lot to all of us.
Director of Kong Skull Island, I’m excited to see this live action Gundam adaptation to have a theatrical release, at lease in Japan.
Cast Tom Hiddleston (Loki) as Char!
@@Strawberryknight I... would like to see that but not convinced it would work.

Does anyone else think the honor of Directing a live action Gundam should have been given to a Japanese .... or Asian director? I know there are plenty of Asian directors in Hollywood that would have loved to direct Gundam. Black Panther was celebrated for having a black director. It seems only fitting that Gundam should be directed by an Asian Hollywood director.
@@TheBigExclusive Then what is wrong with the director who doesn’t much with Japanese media or the source material? I find nothing wrong with live action Alita: Battle Angel by James Cameron, even despite I haven’t yet watched it....
Good luck, Jordan!
There's a lot riding on this film being a good one.
I'm hoping you and your production team knock it out the park and give us more Gundam movies.
Guys don’t worry. The director got passion for this film and a weeb like us. I’m sure it’ll be a great film. Keep it up man!!!
Its reassuring to know he’s built Gunpla in the past, and Skull Island was pretty good too so i think this movie will be a good one

Gundam should stay to be made for the fans by the fans. Im glad to say Sunrise is one of the media companies that understands this.
Jordan is the first of many young directors who grew up with anime and video games, your goin to see more of them wanting they shot at making a adaptation of what they love. He's a great director and cant wait to see what he's goin to do.
Please show more screen times of ordinary soldiers fighting for survival. I know the good old teenage hero saves the world thing is always a thing in Gundam, but what differs Gundam from other animes was that it shows how brutal and merciless war can be to ordinary people, both soldiers and citizens.
though the source material has always been a young male pilot in their teens i would rather see a more mature looking pilot late 20s maybe, oh and i dont want Harry Potter shit either lol fn 20s actn like 13 year olds.
but yeah i hope he captures that termoil the protags always face....
@@ShadowDeus you dont seem to want to see gundam then, child soldiers piloting advanced war machines and coming in terms with the fact that they need to kill or be killed has always been a part of gundam so a young protagonist would be great.
I hope that Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts will cast Miss Stefanie Joosten in the Gundam movie. She’s a Gundam fan and she’s also worked in Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid V.
Waited a long time for the trailer
He's Directing both Gundam and Metal Gear Solid
Yeah, he might gonna fuck up both my favorites lmao
He also had a pilot idea of a metroid game in the line of a horror, this guys actually pretty solid and influenced by these stuff so hopefully hell stick to the source matetial and not fuck us over.
I have a bad feeling about this...
@@sickman5236 HAN SOLO (EU): Join the club.
Hiroyuki Sawano should be the composer for the live action Gundam movie. I mean his music meets the expectations of Hollywood including vocal songs.
War in the pocket, no better material for a feature length film, captures the gundam lore and core with utmost perfection all while showing but a fraction and hinting everything there is from the one year war to Char’s counterattack.
This man just defended Turn A gundam on twitter, I think this movie is in good hands Upon hearing Legendary I have hope that they do the mobile suit designs justice. “First PROPER adaption of Mobile Suit Gundam.”
Thank you.
legendary did pacific rim so we know they can do mechs right with the right director.

It's definitely an uphill battle, but just keep at it! Appreciate you coming out to talk to everyone and I for one would love hearing anything you can talk about or even your interests in Gundam here on UA-cam. I think the more in front of this you are for the fans, the better. Best of Luck!
What Gundam fans need to realise is that Gundam was never meant to surround itself with the mobile suits, but the story, characters and themes.
That's Crazy Metal Gear and Gundam!?! Ever since the first Transformers movie I saw the GCI and said if only they did this to Gundam. G Gundam. Every country battling it out would be amazing. Congratulations and please update us on MGS.
This guy is in charge of both the Gundam AND the Metal Gear Solid movie, two franchises that I hold dearest close to my heart. I want to say that I’m worried, but I’m kind of cautiously optimistic because he seems like a decent guy, a diehard fan with very similar interests to mine, and someone who is grateful to be in charge of those properties. I know I’d be nothing but honored to be afforded those luxuries, and I feel like he knows this and is appreciative of being handed them so he knows he must handle these projects with great care. I’m more cautiously optimistic about his projects than I am about that disappointing live action Cowboy Bebop series coming up on Netflix.
He has Gundam and Metal Gear on both of his hands.
Man, if he can do those justice.. Damn.. just damn. Live Action Japanese Mecha!!!!!!
Nice to see that he's truly one of us. Building imported Gunpla in the MID-90s in the west is a sign of the true hardcore life long fan. That's impressive.

I really wish that the Movie arrives to Cinemas and not just NetFlix, please Hollywood, don't Blow It
An Old School Gundam fan making a Proper Film?? Now You got my Attention
We need grimy, dark drama with gut wrenching action. We need agonizing great victories with a price. We need to Love and hate Char. You do this right this franchise will blow up in the states. This is more than making gunpla. You mess it up then the franchise will never make it here. I hope you realize the weight of what your taking on. Dont f it up.
the fact he's a fan of gundam makes this worlds better. I was so scared they were just going to throw in a big time director who would probably make a good movie. but not capture the essence of Gundam. I'm now even more juiced!
If I can say one thing it's this " Don't pull a Star Wars sequel trilogy with this project."
Actually, if he's adapting the original series, then a trilogy would really flesh out the story.
@mrmegarock58 Screwing up Star Wars, means you anger a fan base. Screw up Gundam means you anger a fanbase *_AND_* a whole nation.

That’s all due to covid and then losing profits, need to expand and get ppl attention so they finally caved. So in odd way thanks to covid to force sunrise hand.
2. Of all things U.C get left out the most especially with a whole slew of new U.C content besides anime be mangas and games. Hell mangas especially with Moon Gundam manga written by fukui who did Unicorn and narrative and others like 0083 rebellion, thunderbolt and such.
3. Fucking hell sunrise need to fully adapt Gundam: the Origin! There is a demand for that especially that test tease years ago.
Yes. We don't need a character who is perfect in every way. What we want is a spoiled teenager who's becoming a better person as the story progress

I hope katoki hajime will be involved in this. And the time line is Universal Century because the Newtypes are as enigmatic as the Jedi in the Star wars universe.
I think this film will be phenomenal, because it is in the right hands; Jorden Vogt as director and producer, Brian K Vaughan as the writer and Legendary Pictures as the main production studio. I have full hopes on this movie, and I hope that it will popularise the Gundam franchise specifically in the West.
I think Jordan is right person for the job. He has knowledge of and respect for the origin of Gundam, and I feel he will do his best to portray the Gundam franchise accurately in live action. Looking forward to viewing his work.
This man knows what he's doing, now it's up to the executives to allow him to do what he needs to do.
It's almost always a good sign when people who actually like and are previously familiar with a franchise are in charge of adapting it. I'm looking forward to this.
He earned my trust with Kong: Skull Island. A film that to this day is such a beautiful and well shot fun monster mash movie. Love this guy and his work. And I love how passionate he is for nerdy stuff like MGS and Gundam! Super cool guy.

Honestly, I hope they go in the same route like pacific rim when the jeagers had moving mechinal parts, and also feeling the weight, and the speed when they walk or run, and to give a sense of scale just how tall they are.

I have faith in him, I believe he truly knows what Gundam is about, but I'm afraid he knows too much, much more than the millions of "fans" that claim to have watched every show yet still don't get the point, who will just look at nothing but the designs and shout "This is not Gundam!!", give the film a bad rep and push new fans away.
