I have this same deck and its been dragging a bit. Does that typically mean new belts? Or a full overhaul like your're doing here? What do you typically charge for this type of service and is it possible to ship to you? thanks
Hi. Just finnished change the same parts as shown in the video thanks to your video. Great help. I just wonder why Denon didn't mounted the spacers on the motorcapstan (missing on mine dr-m44hx as well). According to the service manual there should be spacers on both capstans. :-)
Great video thank you. My DR-M44HX is running slightly slow 2987Hz with a 3000Hz test tape. What would you recommend to fix this? I believe as this deck is direct drive there is no adjustment possible? Measurement done with NAK T-100 Audio analyser software.
@@hifirulezzz Thank you found a white plastic potentiometer on the back of the mechanism (VR901) and my M44HX is now running at 3kHz and like you I can not believe the wow & flutter measurements (0.036%). Playback tone is so engaging too; great sound. I have a problem when testing the record function though. E-to-E (Source) 1kHz tone the meter reads as perfectly matched in both channels @ 0dBVU. However, when I try to record this tone; off tape this is metering at +6dBVU on channel L and about -10dBVU on channel R. Normal playback levels are calibrated correctly and match using a test tape. Any ideas? Could this be a problem with the record head or bias circuit? As I said Playback is very high quality. I will mainly be using this deck for playback but it would make a nice reference recorder to test the rest of my fleet if I could get it working.
Hello, I have a Denon DR-M22 deck, lower and a bit older than DR-M44HX. I tested speed and W&F with ANT software (planing on using NAK T-100 soon) speed is a bit low (+/- 2930Hz) but W&F is still nice (0.04-0.05%) Unfortunately deck is quite noisy when playing, I am afraid motors might need replacement or rebuild. Can you recommand motor brands so I can try new one then try rebuild actual if possible ? Thx in advance. Best Regards. M.N.
Have you check the transistors on HX Pro board? are they overheating? i have found on my 3 of 44hx there are very hot during playback. its TR801 and TR802.
Great video
I have seen this deck in another video somewhere, and he gets the same figure as you. Amazing machine!
Didn't you forget to adjust playback before recording??

Missing on my M4 too....same mechanism... only spacer on the passive flywheel...

Many decks with DD have speed adjustment. check the board.

@@andrew1479 bias generator or record amplifier. Maybe old leaked caps
@@hifirulezzz Thank you for the pointing me in a direction to investigate. Much appreciated.

Good Video. Where did you get the replacement tire from?
eBay

Interesting, I cant find them on the schematic, nor the HX-PRO logic. Will open again.
I have checked, they are quite warm in both playback and Rec modes. Have no proper schematic to explain.
