    I enjoy working on cassette decks as well. Never came across a mechanism like that. Really interesting! Great video as always! 👍

    I have exactly this deck too. It’s a fantastic deck with almost no vow and flutter tanks to the mechanism. One thing to add is that the automatic stop control is very sensitive so you have to clean the pinch roller well to guarantee a steady torch, otherwise it will stop playing randomly. The mechanism to handle this is changed from the older models. A spinning wheel with spokes at the driving wheel, has an optocoupler on it, that sends pulses to a microcontroller that controls the automatic stop.🤔😵‍💫🧠

      i noticed the rather crude but very effective rotary , led and optocoupler , its a good system and should assist preventing eating tapes

    Hello, thank you for this video, very interesting.
    I have the drm-710 and I am satisfied with it. It's a shame that the left channel records at a lower level than the right, but with the balance button we can achieve balance.
    When I bought it the reading was not happening, I read that it was necessary to change the loosened belt of the "actuator", now everything is fine. It's a good deck, certainly not like the Naka , but it's enough for me. Kind regards, from France. (translated by goggle traduct)

      @ every deck has a slightly different procedure to adjust the head height , its described in the service manual incl the 300 jig for the tape path and head position and which tape to use for the head height , if you need the manual just drop me an email

    I picked up one of these decks a few years ago. I haven't done anything to it besides the usual cleaning. Seems to work fine. But I'm not looking forward to belt change time. Such a complicated transport!

    @cassettedeck-walkman-repair Love your videos but I want to ask you if there is a way to get in touch with you and possibly have you look at and repair a Technics RS-B605 cassette deck? It sounds great and records great but sometimes it locks up mechanically with fast forwarding/reverse and using the music seek function. I really like this cassette deck and would like to have it fixed if possible.

    Shouldn't you fast foreword & rewind a C-90 min tape a few times to break the belts in before you adjust the speed?

    • @cassettedeck-walkman-repair
      @cassettedeck-walkman-repair  5 місяців тому +2

      that is not what i was told / taught in japan when i was trained to repair decks ? belts shouldnt need a 'break in' period as there's nothing to break in ? if they stretch in the first few minutes i would order new belts as they are crappy belts , furthermore FF and REW doesnt do anything to the belts as FF / REW is done by the idler tire and reel motor (in most quality decks)
