This is an extremely informative archival footage and forum discussion carried out by a very well educated youth group of the 1950's. The statements made by these young men at that time are a very important depiction and insight into the beginnings of a very volatile situation and conflict which still persists in the Middle East to this day. Thank you so much for this gem.

@@archivedreels9134 These same mutual discussions and amicable interactions exhibited by these youths are, without a doubt, the diplomatic and productive principles which the present leaders of these two nations should be emulating. Unless cooler heads prevail, this conflict will continue as it has for the past seven decades, and even worsen to a much serious matter which can potentially affect the entire world. We sincerely hope that this present Middle Eastern conflict soon comes to a definite end. Thank you again for this historic footage, as well as for your reply.

@@archivedreels9134 I should also note that this specific post World War 2 era was also a defining moment in U.S history with regard to legislation being passed by congress, a move which helped propel school integration to the very forefront of our sociopolitical fabric, thereby dismantling the racial divide that had lingered since the days of slavery. This is evidenced by the program moderator while referring her comments to one of the students in the forum. The program's tittle: "Question of Coexistence", is very fitting for the subject matter involved, as it undeniably encompasses this very conflict of U.S. racial discrimination as well. It is somewhat perplexing how this forum discussion about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict being debated by these students sounds as if it was taking place at this very moment.

actually he is stating falsehood. In 1920 the world powers bequeathed Arabs and Jews states. Arabs got what is today Syria and Iraq, the Jews got what is today Israel and Jordan. A mandate power was to transfer control to the Arabs and Jews respectively. However due to Arab violence the British partitioned the Mandate for Palestine and gave 70% to a foreign Arab warlord (Abdullah, because he was upset his brother was not made king of Syria) then this state (Trnas-Jordan) invaded Israel in 1948 and took the "West Bank" of Judean hills in the war. Egypt took the Gaza "strip." Did either of these counties give it to the "Palestinians? no. They fought to destroy Israel.

actually the thing he Egyptian kid said is hilarious. in 1955 or 1950 which ever the year was, the Egyptians were occupying Israeli territory (Gaza Strip) and denying the residents civil rights. These Arabs were going into Israel and committing its of terror (on my family in the Negev). It was Egypt that invaded. It was Arab propaganda which caused the refugee problem. And to end the war, Israel took Egyptian territory in the Sinai (encircling the Egyptian army in 1949) The British attacked Israel (air battle which Israeli pilots downed the British planes) and the UN, UN, UK, USSR all forced Israel to leave the Sinai, but would not demand Egypt leave the lost Israeli territory in the Gaza "strip." The same taped in 1956 (due to Egyptian act of war in the Red Sea) and again in 1967 which Israel took all of the Sinai and recovered Gaze for the third time. This time Israel was allowed to remain in the occupied territory of the Sinai till Egypt made peace with Israel. The 1948 border (all of Israel) was recognized by the Egyptians. They keep claiming the UN declared Israel
s borders, this is not true. If it was, then they "UN declared" an Arab state which Egypt and Jordan were occupying, annexing, and from which they attacked Israel in 1967.

then he talks about Jerusalem, which was occupied by Jordan! and the Jews were not allowed to go to their sacred area to pray. This is hypocrisy (as for killing womens and childrens that was done by the Arabs on the Jews. People should be Abel to go back to their homes? Egypt was holding on the Gaza Strip, there are Jewish communities that the Egyptian army destroyed (massacred) and Gush Katif never fell in the 1948 war. What hypocrisy!

@@1czechit1 can we stop with the hypocrisy? Israel didn’t even exist at that moment to be pushed away. it’s neither the fault or the Palestinians fault if European countries did this to the jews. And if the Palestinians were committing genocide, jewish people wouldn’t even exist in order to create Israel in the first place.
But today, we can clearly observe the fact that Israel is committing genocide towards the Palestinian people. Palestinians never did this to the Jewish people when Israel didn’t exist.

Interesting how the Israeli puts so much weight on the UN resolution, but today Israel is hostile to the UN and has broken more UN laws than any other country.
The heart of the issue is that European Jewish immigrants came to Palestine and forced out the native Palestinians then set up a racist Jewish supermacist state. Thats called settler colonialism. Doesnt matter if the US and USSR supported it, its wrong because the native population oppose it. This wrong should now be corrected. Just as South African apartheid was dismantled, so should Israeli apartheid.

Yes but the Arabs violated the U.N. resolution by attacking the new nation of Israel amd its citizens. Unfortunately if you are going to start a war you better make sure you are going to win. History proves that land is taken in war. The greater argument today is the oppression of the Arabs in the land. Compassion humility and love is the greater force that will lead to acceptance of both sides.

well lets see...Treaty of Sevres, the Ottoman title was transferred to the Supreme War Council (article 132) to reconstitute the Jewish state (article 95) which made the Balfour Declaration international law. League of Nations Covenant article 22 - British Mandate for Palestine was to establish a Jewish state and transfer control from the Ottoman Empire to the Jews world wide (San Remo Conference April 25 1920). UN Charter article 22 inherited the decisions of the League of Nations Mandatory obligations. The Jewish state's borders were established in 1920 by the San Remo Conference (today's Israel and Jordan borders) In 1922 the British violated the Mandate article 1, 5, and 6 partitioning the land and giving Arabs 70% in addition to Syria and Iraq. Then in 1947 the UN (against charter article 22) has a scheme to portion the land (in a non-binding vote which was meaningless anyway) ignore when Arab armies invaded in 1948 and occupy Israeli territories of Judea and Samaria by Jordan and Gaza Strip by Egypt. How is it Israeli territories? the Principle is called Uti Possidetis Juris. Israel recovered part of the lost territories in 1967.

Sure😂😂😂😂😂😂 nice try Z y0nist...your bla bla contains some bs historical inaccuracies and incorrect use of terminology, such as stating that "the Jewish state's borders were established in 1920 by the San Remo Conference." 😂😂In fact, the San Remo Conference of 1920 established the British Mandate for Palestine, which laid the groundwork for the eventual establishment of a national "home" for the Euro settlers in Palestine.
Additionally, you stated incorrectly that the UN resolution in 1947 was against Charter Article 22. There was no specific violation of Article 22, as the UN General Assembly Resolution 181 (the Partition Plan) was a recommendation and not binding under international law.
Furthermore, your reference to Israeli territories of Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Strip, these areas were not recognized as Israeli territories until much later (after the Six-Day War in 1967).
Overall, you need to see a doctor since your bla bla is quite "complex" Next time try to speak more clearer and try to give a more accurate explanation of the historical events, this would not only be beneficial for you. So again, nice try.

You have obviously not read the minutes of the meeting. Not only were borders discussed but a map was presented specifically for the Jewish state. Palestine was also defined as the kingdom of David and Solomon, and included the trans-Jordan.. UN partition scheme was a nonbinding recommendation. It breached the charter since it gave the Arabs land from the Mandate to establish a Jewish state twice, first its win 1922, second time in 1947 and the UN took Jerusalem/Bethlehm for itself for a period. this is in violation of article 5 of the Mandate (which is article 22.) Also the recommendation gave the Arab "part" to the Trans-Jordan as a federation. So while it was non-binding, the nonbidning part was against the UN Charter article 22, and mandate article 5 specifically. Judea, Samaria and Gaza were Israeli territories by the Uti Possidetis Juris principle, without that you have Uti Possidetis facto which would still make it Israeli territory. They were illegally occupied by Egypt and Jordan. Not only that but Israel was forced to cede part of the captured Sinai in 1949 and again in 1957 in addition to Gaza. This and other interference has led to the war in 1967. The Arabs thought they can conduct wars and never lose land on the one hand while continue to occupy Israeli territory. @@MariaNI-yf1bz

    • @1czechit1
      @1czechit1 7 місяців тому

Again, the British Mandate for Palestine was the reconstitution of the lost kingdom of David and Solomon. San Remo Conference minutes presented the map for this kingdom when the French pushed back on the meaning of "from Dan to Beersheba" a biblical reference to the borders of ancient Israel, what the British called Palestine. Please read the minutes, it also established Syria and Iraq. A mandate was a temporary trusteeship and not a soverign entity. The beneficiaries were Jews worldwide. The claim that it was European Jews is simply ahistorical. The defense that the 1947 partition was only a recommendation is still a breach of the UN Charter (article 22) because it breached article 5 of the Mandate which was international law. Judea Samaria and Gaza were Israeli territories by the Uti Possidetis Juris principle. They were illegally occupied by Egypt and Jordan in belligerent occupation, taking in an unprovoked war of aggression in 1948. If this is legitimized (and it was by UK and Pakistan, and sort of by post 1967 UN members) that means the land belongs to Israel by the Uti Possidetis Facto principle. Either way, it is Israeli territory unless there in an "international" law only for Israel and an international law for the rest of the world which just happenes to not include Arabs. so again, go learn history and real international law and get back to me. @@MariaNI-yf1bz

They evidently don't teach history where you're from. The Ottoman caliphate lost WWI which passed its possessions to the British allies. The British got sick of trying to impose order on the violent population and gave it to the UN instead. The downfall of the Ottoman caliphate brought paved the way for the modern country of Turkey and an end to centuries of oppression in Southeast Europe.
There never was a sovereign state called Palestine. It was a region, like "Sahara," and the local Arabs considered themselves "Southern Syria."
Caliphate was all about glory and violently subjugating dhimmis and kufars. It has had nothing to do with decent government for a millennium if not longer. Even the rulers of Mecca and Medina don't need to have a theocratic imperial caliphate.

Jewish people live in fear. They're always talking about going underground to run to the safety room. It sounds like each house has a safety room to go too, just to feel safe.
