Yeah if you think about it, Magmoor caverns was simply a means to get players to Phendrana for the first time and that was it. The Magmoors themselves worked. You're definitely right about that. Although, at least we get the Plasma Cannon in Magmoor Caverns. For some reason the Ice Beam is in the Chozo Ruins. At least it was less predictable.

And to think they were hoping to add Kraid in as the boss for Magmoor but ran out of time. *sighs* Outside of that, possibly sole, error in judgement (I'd have happily waited 2-3 more months for that fight), this is best damn Gamecube game ever. I like Zelda and all, but nothing on Gamecube had me play it repeatedly until I was doing no-death Hard mode Speedruns from the sheer amount of practice I put into it, like this game did.
In the game art on the menu screen, there appeard to be a 3-headed magmoor beast thought at least...... Maybe there was a boss design for Magmoor. Or maybe the kraid they were making was going to be on here. That area where the ceiling pops up, the spider ball tracks revealed so you could get the plasma beam would of been a great place for a boss fight. ''3 platforms, lava rises up from the floor, 3-headed magmoor infused with phazon appears, kill it and obtain the plasma beam'' That would of been PERFECT. That's just my opinion.
If I do remember correctly, originally Thardus was going to be the boss of Magmoor Caverns. Phendrana Drift's boss would have been this huge looking 6-legged beast that may have been a relative to the Sheegoth. The model and animations for it are still in the game's files.
I absolutely love how nintendo re-did the theme for lower norfair in super metroid the way they did, its as if this is the original music piece that had to be bit-crushed for the SNES sound chip

Its is , all the region of the game ( phazon mines , magmoor cavern , tallon overworld , agon and phendrana drifts) can be accesed by magmoor cavern , originaly there was supposed to have an boss for the plasma beam , but it was scrapped at the last moment due to time limitation

I just got into Metroid Prime through the Remastered one, Dread introduced me to this series and GODDAMN am I glad I now know of this masterpiece. This song, Phendrana Drifts, Chozo Ruins and that one another Phendrana song I can't seem to find for the life in me are absolute bop materials.

When I first heard this version of Magmoor Caverns/Lower Norfair, I NEVER knew it was on Super Metroid first, because I've given up on it when I was little. Then I decided to come back to it after I've resurrected my SNES a few years later, and my jaw dropped when I heard this on Super Metroid.... They almost sound IDENTICAL.
I don't care what anyone says; this is and will always be the best 'version' of Lower Norfair. Not overdone, totally cleaned up and Epic and sticks with you. They hit it out of the park with this one.

Magmoor Caverns is where things start to come together. For the first time, you get a glimpse at the heart of the Space Pirate war machine and realize the true scale of their operation. You are now deep behind enemy lines - and just to make SURE you understand that, the theme of Lower Norfair returns along with the Pirates.
Magmoor Caverns was simply more of a underground series of paths to the different areas of Tallon IV than a fleshed out zone complete with an area boss and other things. It was fun finding certain items here though!

I recently began seriously playing through this game. The game is like one large inter-connected Zelda dungeon with different themes, which just so happen to be my favorite types of temples. (Ruins, Fire, Ice, etc.) Aka like Zelda with guns 7.8/10
when I first played this game I always admired how great the music was and how ahead of it's time it was. Now as someone who produces music, when I came back to this level I was surprised that I can recreate this song with a simple program. I realized that these people who make video game music have technology and equipment that not even these "Legendary" producers have. Just something interesting I found out
